The engine overheated while driving and required immediate attention, leaving me and my family stranded on the highway. The original code that tripped the check engine light was for a misfire in Cylinder #3, upon further inspection at the dealership it was concluded that the issue was a blown head gasket, causing the engine to overheat and fail. This was confirmed by the dealer. I have sent the issue to the manufacturer as well. There are a number of these issues in public forums. It is apparently a well known defect.

I have owned van for 1 year and taken it into the shop 6 times for blown head gasket, leaking coolant, over heating due to leaking coolant, and now it needs a new ignition coil and spark plug due to coolant leaking. Check engine light pops on every time and the van notifies me that the engine is over heating. Must pull over on the side of the road to let car cool down. Problem has been confirmed, taken to car dealer at every instance. After issue has been taken to dealer and "fixed" check engine light returns after 4-6 weeks, every time. Paperwork can be provided on request.

While traveling at 75+ mph on a multi-lane highway the vehicle shut off displaying warnings "Shift to P to Start" "Service Charging System" "Sliding Door Open" "Forward Collision Warning Unavailable" and large red turtle icons. With the van shut off the only option available was to coast to side of the road/shoulder while trying to avoid other high speed vehicles and while the other vehicles attempted to dodge me. The vehicle has been at the dealer 5 times. Various codes are always available but they are unable to recreate the problem. The first visit the 12v battery was replaced. The most recent visit (the van is still at the dealer) the dealership and the manufacturer tore apart the van and checked parts for 5 weeks and could not identify anything wrong. I have pictures and lists of conditions, codes and problems. There is no warning when this happens, the vehicle merely chimes and lets the driver know that it's no longer on.

Van showed the message "Stop safely the vehicle will shut off" and stopped on the road. It was immobile for close to 30 mins. I was able to start and drive back home. It again stopped on the road on the way to the dealer. I have seen number of complaints on this van on the internet. My van is still with the dealer and they could not fix the problem in the past 15days

Vehicle with 60,850 miles (just out of warranty) had leaky right head gasket. This caused the engine to hesitate where power was needed before starting to move and engine did not run smoothly. This caused unsafe conditions when parallel parking - where quick engine response was needed to get out of the roadway from oncoming traffic. The problem was confirmed by check engine light and repaired by a Chrysler dealer for $3,500. Online forums indicate that there are many drivers who have encountered this same issue with early mileage gasket issues with this particular engine.

I was driving on I95 in Virginia doing 70mph and the car lost all power. I was able to glide to the side of the interstate and wait for a tow. I had 2 kids and our dog in the car. We live in Maryland and were far from home. It was a very dangerous situation on the should of I95. When the car lost power I got an error message to put the Van into park. The Van is under recall for a fire risk which still hasn't been fixed. This is another issue with the Van. It is currently at Ourisman Chrysler in Clarksville, MD. No answers yet.

I confirmed this issue on chrysler pacifica owners forum. Engine block failure at less than 70K miles. Maintained car per owner's manual recommended schedule. Despite good maintenance, we had the issue first manifest as a single-cylinder misfire. Replaced the spark plug and coil to find that the car wouldn't start. Then found a blown 500 amp fuse at the block above the battery terminal. White smoke from exhaust at restart. Ended up with a diagnosis of block failure / warped head gasket. Confirmed large number of reports on the chrysler pacfica owner forum.

The contact owns a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while parking the vehicle in her garage, the gear shifter indicator light was not illuminated while shifting from the drive (D) to park (P) and the vehicle was not able to turn off after pushing the START/STOP button. Additionally, the rear liftgate door was not able to open as needed. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact's neighbor disconnected the fuel lines and was able to turn off the vehicle; however, the instrument panel light and headlights were not able to be turned off. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.

Months after a start/stop recall software update, my wife and children were entering the intersection to make a left turn and made a complete stop. The vehicle-??s engine stopped. The oncoming traffic cleared up. My wife proceeded to make the left turn but the vehicle did not respond. The engine did not restart on its own. The D on the shift gear began to flash. The throttle sensor lightning bolt symbol appeared on the dash and there was nothing that would allow the vehicle to shift or restart. The vehicle needed to to be powered off. The traffic light turned red and the car was blocking the intersection for the other traffic. After restarting the vehicle, the turn was completed and ran normally. This occurred 3 more times at a stop light on different occasions. The dealership found a wiring issue associated with the start/stop and the vehicle hood open sensor.

I was driving on the highway at approximately 60mph when the engine suddenly quit and the message "Put vehicle in Park to restart" appeared on the console. I managed to get parked in a precarious position on the wedge between an on ramp and the interstate. Although I was able to shift into Park I was not able to restart the vehicle for some time. During that time I called Chrysler Roadside assistance which could not help with the problem and 911 (because it was so unsafe to remain in place) A policeman came and called for a tow but while waiting, the car finally shut down and restarted. The check engine indicator was still on but I managed to drive to the next exit and get to a safe location. I finally was contacted by Roadside Assistance but they could offer no assistance. I restarted the car. The check engine light was off and I completed my trip without incident. This is the third time this problem has occurred. In the other two incidents the vehicle restarted right away. This is an extremely dangerous behavior, however, and seems to be commonly reported on chrysler forums. I do not know if it is related to the current recall or not. I was under the impression that prior recalls had resolved this problem but see it reported in more current models as well. Chrysler apparently does not understand the cause or have a fix. In most cases, it appears they are unconcerned.

I took my van in for recall work to replace the hybrid battery. Since then I have had to return 5 times because the coolant keeps getting low, and the "Hybrid electrical system" and "check engine" lights come on after a few days of driving. I have reported smelling fire when this happens. I take it to the dealer. They top off the coolant and reset the lights and send me on my way now. The first 4 times they kept the car for 3 days to do this and drive it about 200 miles after topping it off. I contacted Chrysler directly and they tell me its not their problem. I need to deal with the dealer. The dealer has no idea what they are doing. I am attaching the recall notice. The dealer has all copy's of the receipts where the work was completed.

Car will unexpectedly send a message on the dash that says to "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon". This will be followed by a complete shut down of the vehicle with no electric power to accessories, the engine, brakes, lights, etc. This can happen while underway at any speed and it will render the vehicle totally uncontrollable and risk injury to vehicle occupants and other vehicles and pedestrians. This failure has happened approximately 5 times and fortunately, there have been no accidents of injuries. The vehicle has been taken or towed into the Chrysler dealer 3 times. On the first visit, they said it was the battery. Battery was replaced under warranty. Since then, the dealer can not duplicate the problem but problem returns unexpectedly once it has been returned to us. This is very scary and we can not trust this vehicle, particularly because we do use it to transport our 3 grandchildren who are all below the age of 7.

2018 Pacifica Touring L Plus. Approximately 33,750 miles. Engine compartment fire. Cause UNKNOWN. Vehicle was parked with engine / ignition off and directly after a brief warm-up and approximate 5 mile drive. Returned to vehicle after approximately 10 minutes in store. Noticed odd, but faint smell and assumed was from adjacent, running vehicle. Started engine and reversed from parking spot. While proceeding to parking lot exit, smell became more pronounced and seemed electrical in nature. Quickly parked again at outer perimeter of adjacent store lot and away from other parked vehicles. Released hood latch, and exited vehicle. Lifted hood to find grey smoke throughout engine compartment and flames in lower LH (my right) engine compartment. Closed hood and removed my dog from vehicle while calling 911. Police and fire arrived in under 5 minutes. Fire department cut hood and grill to bypass latch and extinguished the fire. No injuries to report. The outcome could have easily been different, including loss of life, if the fire intensified while I was still in store. Loss of life, serious injury, and / or significant property damage if parked in garage, structure, or still surrounded by other vehicles. Fire contained within engine compartment. No functioning electrical. Windshield cracked & various front-end damage. Smoke in vehicle interior, ducting, and personal contents. Water damage from extinguishing. Insurance company deemed total loss and has possession of vehicle as of this report date. No previous indication, mechanical or electrical, prior to this incident. Purchased used with 28,398 miles on 6/30/2021 from a CDJR Dealership in Southeast Michigan. Police, fire, and insurance reports available.

While driving at 60mph, vehicle shut off and would not allow me to accelerate. Error message displayed on speedometer, vehicle must be in park to shift gears. The PRNDL blue LED was flashing as well. Several indicator lights on my dashboard illuminated too. Vehicle has approximately 9300 miles on it. This is a pacifica e-hybrid. After pulling off the road I was able to restart and the van worked in -??limp home-?? mode with the red turtle displayed. I then limped the van to a gas station, shut off the van, topped off the fuel tank which had been at 1/4 full, and after a few minutes restarted. After restart, only the yellow check engine light was displayed and the van operated normal. I have read a safety recall exists but Chrysler is saying it is not an active recall for my specific VIN even though I am experiencing the same problems as other owners. I am pretty sure it is associated with one of: 19V348000, 18V049000, or 18V524000. The dealer won-??t repair this under recall since all my -??active recalls-?? have been fixed. I can-??t drive the vehicle safely but how can I get it fixed if Chrysler won-??t repair the issue I am having. With no error codes saved, the dealer said unless it replicates while they have it they won-??t be able to diagnose.
