When going about 10-15 miles per hour, the vehicle will suddenly lunge forward and make a tremendous clunking sound like metal against metal. This happens about a few times a month. It can be replicated by barely pressing down the gas pedal, usually happens when navigating through parking lots. Very scary.
Automatic engine shutoff system shuts off vehicle on hills causing a rollback issue, safety problem. It also shuts off during heavy traffic heating up vehicle considerably. So far two different service departments cannot find any issues. 3 batteries have been replaced in 2 years time. Transmission pops in and out of gear between 2nd and 3rd during city driving. No spare tire!! patch kit, good luck using it if you have a flat.
My vehicle was stationary while waiting at a red light. When the light turned green, I pushed the accelerator and suddenly, error messages appeared on the dashboard and my car shifted itself into park. I was unable to shift out of park despite multiple tries. I shut the car on and off multiple times and still, the car would not shift out of park. This caused the car to be disabled and not driveable, which is a significant safety issue as the car was blocking traffic.
While coming to a stop on a city street van loses all power and stalls after making a clicking noise. I have to put it in park and start the car again.
We are on our second Pacifica after the first was bought back by Chrysler due to major electrical issues (vehicle would not start or function correctly, dealer couldn't fix it). Now on our second Pacifica we have had constant transmission issues...first transmission started slamming into gear (feels like you are being rear ended by another vehicle, this can be at slower speeds < 20 mph while going straight or turning), they reset computer, that didn't fix it, so then they replaced the valve body in the transmission (2 seperate shop trips). A couple months later it started slamming into gear again (slow speeds < 20, turning and going straight), so they replaced the transmission after putting us in a rental for another month, about 6 months later this transmission had the same exact issue, slamming into gear at low speeds (< 20, turning or going straight). So we are on our 2nd Pacifica and the 3rd transmission now and are still having the same issue as we initially had (slamming into gear like you are being rear ended at slow speeds < 20 going straight or turning)! there are serious issues with this transmission that Chrysler needs to resolve! this is not safe to drive the way it is, because you don't know the situation you will be driving in when it happens.

My car stalls and jerks when I'm going around 16 mph. Losses power. It clunks and shifts hard like you're being hit from behind. My car has had one transmission replacement a few months back. Today the car has been in the shop for over 30 days with its second transmission issue. Chrysler can"T seem to fix the issue. It's a very scary feeling to loss power in the middle of the highway or anywhere. Please help. My slidding doors had an issue that they will open and close automatically even if I was driving. Very scary. So many more issues. The issues started maybe a month and a half after purchasing the vehicle.
Continuing to have issues with very hard shift between 1st and 2nd gear and causes to van to lurch when it slams into 2nd gear. It will hesitate then slam into gear hard. This typically happens during slow speed turns or turns from a full stop. It has happened on occasion from full stop going straight. This is very dangerous when pulling out in traffic. I'm taking it to the dealer for the third time to figure out.
When driving an turning makes clanking noise under car, car get stuck in cars an then jerks when changes, been telling Chrysler dealer where I get my repairs an tune ups I'm told it all part of the electrical system been telling them this since I got the car new 2017
In the past week on 3 separate days, when making a slow turn on a city street, the car will not accelerate for several seconds and then suddenly slams very hard into gear. It caused my children to scream when it happens because it's so jarring. This is extremely dangerous, as the person behind me almost rear ended me each time when this happens! it is a very scary experience and should not be happening on a 2 year old car with only 15K miles! I'm afraid to drive it now. I'm bringing it in to the dealer next week but I've already read of people with similar experiences and the dealer saying "sorry we can't recreate it so don't know what's going on". Chrysler needs to look into this issue asap. It's a very scary and dangerous situation that should not be happening on a new car!
We apparently have the same problem as many other Chrysler Pacifica owners. The van hard shifts into gear and it feels like someone has run into the back of our van. (it seriously hurts your back and neck.) the dealerships have reset the computers, etc but it hasn't solved the problem. We've been told by the service managers that they're familiar with this complaint but that Chrysler has told them that the van is shifting correctly, they cannot do anything more and their hands are tied until Chrysler comes up with a different solution.
The vehicle will stall and then hard shift from first to second gear. We initially noticed the hard shifting when we bought the vehicle but thought it might be the auto stop/start system. We didn't think much of it until it started shifting harder when we would stop or be driving. This, at times, caused issues when turning or accelerating to go through an intersection. The vehicle stalling causes a safety hazard and presents an opportunity for an accident to occur due to the delayed response of the vehicle. The cars following behind could potentially rear end the vehicle. The hard-shifting feels like someone hit you from behind and causes back and neck pain from the sudden jerking movement. This vehicle has also completely stopped when being driven causing a serious safety hazard. It started up again immediately after that incident only to not start at all a few months later. This vehicle has been nothing but trouble for us from the very beginning. We stayed optimistic that the recalls would fix the issues. They haven't. it's only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or heaven forbid dies because of this issue. We have had 8+ service visits for this van. At one time it was completely inoperable and had to be towed to the service department. We are frustrated with Chrysler and the service department at ancira Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge in san antonio, tx.
Upon a start from a start, the car bucks between the speeds of 14-17 mph while accelerating. The reaction from the car feels like the car was hit from behind. It is random and I not been able to correlate the action with any particular driving characteristic such as a slow or fast start. The car has about 30,000 miles as of this writing and has about 25,000 as of the date of first occurrence.
When shifting from 1st to 2nd gear there is a large shudder and the car lunges forward and slams into gear very roughly. This nearly caused me to crash into another vehicle while driving.
Power train intermittently shifts hard at low speeds (under about 20 mph) in stop and go type traffic causing the vehicle to unexpectedly lunge forward. It is believed this will eventually lead to a vehicle accident. The local fica dealer (pomoco nn) is unable to resolve. Vehicle is still under mfgr warranty.
The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that the start and stop feature was inoperable and the vehicle failed to start. While driving various speeds, the vehicle shifted roughly and all the instrument cluster warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to stew hansen Dodge Ram Chrysler Jeep (2103 hickman rd, urbandale, ia 50323, (877) 841-4585 where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired several times; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was 15,000.
The car misses different gears as you accelerate. Feels as though the transmission is slipping upon acceleration. The vehicle is in motion with acceleration while these issues happen. It will happen on city streets and highways.
We have had multiple issues with our 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The first issue is when we accelerate between 10 and 20 mph our vehicle revs up and jerks really bad. Literally feels like you have been rear ended. It is like the gear is slipping or it can't find the next year to go into. Another issue we are having is with the drivers side sliding door. I usually have to try to shut it multiple times for it to stay shut. On multiple occasions I have had to hit the button 3-4 times for it to stop popping back open. The last issue is our start/stop feature. It has completely stopped working and it shows a code on the dash. These are all issues we have been dealing with for months.
While driving, having reduced speed from 70 mph to 45 mph, experienced engine shut down. No power - coasting to stop, no power steering. Warning on dash said, "put shifter in P to start." Was able to safely pull off road and restart. Continued on trip and same situation happened another 10-15 times. Sometimes there was no shoulder and I had to come to a full stop in traffic to restart the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. On several occasions, while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. Also, the vehicle made a hard shift while the contact attempted to depress the accelerator pedal. The contact restarted the vehicle and drove to larry H. miller Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram albuquerque (8528 lomas blvd ne, albuquerque, nm 87110, 505-404-0108) to be diagnosed, but a fault code could not be retrieved. The contact was informed that a software update was performed; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and provided a case number. The failure mileage was unknown.
As I was driving down the highway my passenger window suddenly rolled down then my dashboard lights flicked on and off multiple times. The battery light and no traction light blinked, too. As I went to pull over to stop, the car completely shut off once I braked. I was able to restart and continue driving at that time. I was going roughly 65 mph when the initial problem began.
