This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Housing cases crack from the inside and water gets in. Shorts out the fuse. Constant changing on bulbs on headlamps and stop lamps. Housing cases for lights cost more than car note. Onstar not alerted by problem and I don't know until I'm driving and someone else flags me down. Multiple people have almost rear-ended me.
Last week when my car was parked, it died. When I got back in, I realized it had died, and tried to start it. When I started it, all of these errors started popping up: "engine power reduced", "traction control is off", "service stabilitrak". the power was definitely reduced, and I could barely creep along. The car even shook like it was about to die. Then when I was trying to stop the ABS breaks came on and off several times. I parked and turned it off then turned it back on after a minute. It was back to normal except the service engine light was on. So I took it to the dealership and had them check it out. They couldn't find anything to fix and said to call again if anything happened again (they did charge the battery). I went and picked it up and drove it 10 miles. I parked and shut it off. When I came back out to start it about 30 minutes later, this time there was an error about the guidelines on the camera system not working and the same stabilitrak error. So I shut it off and started it back up. It seemed to be functional after restarting it. It was okay for a few days until the major errors happened again this morning. I was trying to pull into a parking spot and it did the same thing with the same errors that I first had. It actually went to a total stop and would not move forward at all. I was thankful that I was in a parking lot and not on the highway my children in the car with me. It was so sudden, that if we had been on the highway, I am sure I would have been in an accident. I turned it off and back on and the same thing happened again with the same errors. So I turned it off again and let it sit for a minute and turned it back on. The errors were gone but the service light was on. It seemed functional again. There are tons of similar situations reported online. The dealership is supposed to check it again.
Loses power on high way. Bought car brand new in 2014. Been happening since 2014 and 20 thousand miles. Big safety consern when power is lost lose about 20 mph and the
Been having issues with my vehicle with stabilitak and sensors. My car starts shaking engine power is reduced to 10-15 mph. Taken it to dealeship 6 different times and have been told that there is nothing wrong with it that they can figure out. Almost got hit on the highway when my car abruptly went down to 15mph without any warning. Car behind me had to swerve to the side to avoid impact. It doesn't matter whether I'm driving or slowing down for a red light it happens at all different times.

While driving my 2014 Chevy Traverse my stability track light and engine light came on loss of power the car jerks cannot control it can cause an accident happened more than once this is November 1, 2017 that happened or five times already call today to complain to Chevy my car is now the dealership trying to figure out what is wrong with
On October 13, 2017 I was driving on the highway going 50 mph. When suddenly the car de-accelerated its velocity at 15 to 20 mph. Then notice the instrument panel displaying traction control on and cycling to off. It also displayed stabilizer control service with a flashing check engine light. It was very frightened when vehicles behind me had to come to a reduce speed almost resulting in an accident with the risk of getting hit on the back or tail of the vehicle. Had to pull over changing from one of the two middle lanes at slow velocity which was a dangerous maneuver to make it to the shoulder. I've read this same issue on line with other owners on this type of vehicle. Therefore a recall or an investigation with this issue should be done.
Service stabilitrak, reduced engine power, traction control off warnings all came on with no warning or reason. Vehicle lost all power and wouldn't move. This is a known issue with many Chevy models and years.
14 Traverse fuel low light stays on, even after filling the vehicle up with a full tank of gas. Gauge fluctuates and we cannot tell exactly how much fuel we have. Very dangerous when driving children around.
Radio stays on after car is off and computer keeps saying tighten fuel cap and taction driver shuts off all sudden then check engine light comes on then resets and goes bacck to normal on its own
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse. While driving 55 mph on the freeway, the vehicle started to veer to the left and right independently. The contact heard a ding noise and the vehicle felt like it would stall. In addition, the instrument panel indicators flickered and the electronic stability sensor and traction control indicator remained illuminated. The contact notified the dealer (mountain view Chevrolet 1079 w foothill blvd, upland, ca 91786 909-985-2866) and was informed to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer stated that they would notify the dealer and would call the contact back within 24 hours. The failure mileage was 80,000.
The service airbag alert comes on for no reason, then goes off. It came back on again and did not go off. I drive speeds of 30 to 60 mph. My lights on the dash and radio dims and the radio cutoff at any given time. This is very serious problems because the vehicle can cut off while I am driving. I also experience water pouring into to my Traverse right over my front over head lamps inside. There was so much water it filled the cup holder and the shift was wet. The front windshield has never been changed and I don't have any cracks on my front window. I have no clue how the water is coming into my Traverse from the top and leaking in through the front over head lamps. I have brought it into the dealership, 1 day ago I still have not heard back from anyone. I asked if it was common, with the Traverse and I was told no. I obviously they lied, because I had to come on this website to see that other people are experiencing the same problems. I am not a car expert but the man at the dealership that has been doing this line of work for 30+ years said he could smell the water has soon has he sat in the vehicle. So obviously water has been leaking in from some where for a while now to be able to smell the water. I keep my car very clean and my carpets are dry. So the water must be coming in somewhere from the roof and staying reserved in a particular area until it pours out. The water may be the reason I am having the other issues, and may be each problems is not related at all. It is very frustrating because I am paying car note on a car that is am skeptical about driving because I don't know if it safe to drive. I have not only my safety to worry about I also have my children safety consider and other people that ride in this vehicle too. The lights dims while driving or when idling. The service air bag light is on all the time when driving, idling, or in park.
Since we bought this vehicle it has been nothing but trouble. We have had problem with seat belt, instrumental panel (reset) and one more thing that we do not remember what it is. At this time we are experiencing problem with all break lights not operational which was recalled December 26, 2014 for the reason that the chassis electronic module may be internally contaminated, resulting in an electrical short..very dangerous however, I was told that our vehicle was not recalled and yet could not convince me why we are having same problem with recalls. We have appointment to take the vehicle in on Tuesday, Nov 28, , 2016. We need help to make sure that Chevy fixes this car at no cost to us..it is shameful that a 2yrs old ar will develop these problems while your are still paying car note. We believe there was a mistake when recalls were made that apparently most cars that were supposed to be covered were missed unless why such a coincidence. Chevy issued me a complain number: 8-2539917328. We will greatly appreciate your help in this matter.
Slightly in motion about 5 mph and sometimes around 50 mph, the dic will reset within a split second, the radio will cutoff and all dashboard signs will come on momentarily like a reset. This is a possible electrical issue due to faulty ignition switch, faulty engine control module, ignition switch harness shorted or even poor electrical connection causing voltage difference
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse. While driving approximately 55 mph, the stabilitrac warning light suddenly flashed off and on. The vehicle suddenly shut off, causing the power steering and power brakes to stop functioning. After the incident, the vehicle could not be restarted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 29,000.
Was driving down the freeway all of sudden the car message center said reduce engine speed stabilink off and traction control off and the check engine light came on also..so I was doing 65 and all off sudden ithe car went to 40..almost got rear ended a and into a crash
While the vehicle is in operation in any driving condition the airbag service indicator warning light came on and stayed on. This was intermittent at first and then stayed on after a few days. Dealer will not cover this key safety component failure. This seems to be related to the last recall for airbag failure on the 2009-2013 Traverse model vehicles made this year. The recall fixes the yellow wire harness connector failure by cutting it away and splicing the wires together. There are now technical bulletins out for the 2014 Traverses that seem to have the same issue.
Dealer has told me that the vehicle registers an error code of B0022. According to the dealer, GM tells them to check four wires on the connectors to the front passenger seat wiring harness that causes the check airbag warning light to illuminate. Specifically, GM tells the dealer to solder the connections on the four wires on the connector. The dealer has also told me that if the warning light for the air bag system is illuminated, none of the airbags will deploy. In my opinion this is a serious design flaw. If the airbag warning light is illuminated and you have an accident before the problem is corrected this could result in major injuries. Also, a connector termination problem is a manufacturing defect and should be corrected by the dealer, especially in a critical safety system such as the airbag system.
While in motion, the vehicle began to sputter, the dashboard and radio went blank, the locks in the doors went up and down several times. I pressed the brake and was unable to stop the car as I was approaching a stop sign. I had to roll through the stop sign and narrowly missed being hit at the intersection. Within a few seconds, the vehicle regained power and I was able to drive home. This has happened on 2 other occasions where the car has lost electrical power for several seconds while driving down the road. I also went out to my stationary parked car and tried to start it one morning. The vehicle was completely dead, like it had a dead battery, but the ignition would not release my key or let me turn the key back to the off position. So I started to try to get to the battery to jump the vehicle off, but by the time I got ready to do this, I opened the car door and all the lights came back on and the car started right up (but without a working radio this time). This is a very serious and dangerous problem. We have only had the car for a few months and we have now had our car in a Chevy dealership for 15 days and they have been unable to replicate the problem and so they are trying to send the vehicle home with us without any other solution other than to keep driving it (putting my family in danger) and try to record it when it happens again (so I can prove I'm not crazy or just making this stuff up).
Was driving on interstate at 75 mph, about 80 miles from my destination, with cruise control on. Switched the bright lights on and the cruise control turned off, power locks started locking and unlocking repeatedly, headlights started flashing on and off. The whole dashboard instrument lights turned on (check engine, change oil, ABS, battery light, stabilitrak etc) when I attempted to press gas accelerator it was locked in place and would not move, vehicle stalled in interstate traffic with my children and I in car. Was able to merge onto shoulder, placed vehicle in park turned ignition to off position then restarted vehicle. Was able drive rest off way without turning on bright headlights or cruise control. When I got off interstate onto highway with no other vehicles I placed cruise control on and flipped on bright headlights and the vehicle did the same thing (gas pedal, headlights, instrument panel and locks) again pulled over restarted car and continued driving with no issue ( no cruise or brights used) I then took car to dealership next morning. The dealership was unable to replicate said occurrence after 6 days in shop.vehicle was sent home with us with no solution.we have had vehicle not quite 2 months.do not feel safe having my family in it. Complaint made to manufacturer (Chevrolet GM) they stated they had received no similar complaints and are unable to provide a fix. Was told if vehicle repeats occurrence to try to video it and return to shop. Unhappy with this situation all the way around.
