Steering wheel locked and failed to turn after putting into drive when leaving a parking spot. Needed to put back into reverse to release the wheel. Steering column has since been making loud popping noise during small corrections while driving straight, at various speeds. Steering has been becoming increasingly less responsive and requiring more force. Especially during breaking. Fluid level is normal.

While driving above 70 mph, the vehicle begins to have vibrations. Have taken our Suburban in for multiple repairs but their reasoning was the vehicle and tires were not balanced however after replacing the tires and getting a road forced balance it did not resolve the issue. It does not feel safe to drive above 70mph.

When traveling at slow speeds, I.e., parking lot or restaurant drive-thru line, and making sharp turns, car stabilitrak warning will flash then loss of power steering and complete loss of power will result. Additionally, the media electronics will shut off and restart periodically. This doesn't necessarily happen at the same time, although, this never happens when I am not having problems with the stabilitrak system. (see previous complaint: 11122704) took car for service at capitol Chevy on 8/30/19. They said no codes were indicated, however, throttle body was dirty and could have an effect on my issue. Throttle body was serviced/cleaned. On Sept. 2, 2019 I had issue with media system and stabilitrak. While traveling southbound on I-85, cruise control set approx. 75 mph, I braked to disengage cruise speed when media system reset. I pulled into my driveway approx. 20 minutes later and while traveling at slow speed and turning in my driveway, the stabilitrak warning came on resulting in loss of power steering. I was nearly at a stop when it happened. Sometimes when the car loses power in these situations it will have to be jumped off to restart. Which happened prior to being serviced on 8/28/19. I read about similar stories on Chevy message boards related to 2015 models,

1) intermittently when turning vehicle at slow speeds, there is sudden loss of steering and electric power steering violently bouncing the wheel back to neutral position when attempting to steer left or right. There is also sudden loss of electricity, engine turns off, requiring to shift to park and restart engine. This issue usually occurs after rain or after car wash (water entering shark fin antenna) 2) intermittent complete power loss throughout the vehicle (occurs especially after rain - when shark fin antenna gets filled with water) and feels like battery is suddenly completely dead. Sometimes it can not be jump started immediately, and after more than an hour, it may be jump started. 3) water leaking into the front left corner of roof (driver side) after rain - again due to shark fin anternna leak. There are many owners of Chevy Suburban/Tahoe, Silverado, GM truck reporting exactly same problems all over internet and on youtube. This problem still exists after the recent 09/07/2018 recall 18V586000 fix. This recall did not help solve this problem. In many youtube videos people report having fixed this issue by replacing battery positive and ground cables, as well as by removing the sound dampening material trapped under G218 ground on the driver side of dash (people have mentioned about increased resistance across G218 ground). Water leak inside cabin. Water build up in driver side floor board, either coming from on star/shark fin antenna, can trace water leak up under the dashboard to where all the electrical wirings are. Lost on star and gps service due to this. Random dash light and interior light flickering. Two incidents so far where vehicle shuts off while driving. One on nearby street and other on the highway. Lost steering and braking ability. No electricity so could not turn on hazard lights to alert other drivers around me.

I received a recall notification from Chevy (recall number 18289) and my vehicle had occasionally experienced some of the listed problems in the recall so I immediately took my car in to be serviced. After the the recall service my car seemed to be fixed, but that only lasted a few days. The problem is back and even worse than before. When turning the steering wheel at low speeds the my car experiences temporary loss of power, the entire electrical system shorts out briefly (radio, display screen, power locks all turn off/on) and the wheel becomes difficult to turn. Since having the recall problem "fixed", in addition to the above still happening, the wheel just loses power steering (very difficult to turn) or locks up without electrical loss and on two separate occasions all of the above has happened and my care stalls mid turn and I have to put my car in park to restart it. I have taken it to the dealer and they want to charge me to diagnose and fix any problems. I have also placed a call to Chevrolet and am waiting on a response. I am concerned and hesitant to drive my vehicle with this safety issue still occurring.

When pulling into a visitor parking spot at my children's school the steering of my Chevy Suburban 2015 became stuck in mid turn. It locked in place for a split second or two causing my car to scrape the bumper of the car parked in the spot next to me. When the steering came back it was extremely loose. My vehicle was in motion and very low speed. I have 3 children involved with pta and carpooling kids around daily. I have been driving an SUV for 12 years and this has never happened before. The car VIN number was indeed part of a steering recall. The recall notice was sent out after my accident. After a claim was put in with my insurance. I am glad no one got hurt. In the meantime the damages to the car I hit has been fixed.

I was involved in a vehicle accident in January of 2017. A very traumatic experience needless-to-say. I was in the far left lane of a 3 lane highway. As I was attempting to switch to the center lane, I suddenly lost the ability to control my steering wheel, as though it was jammed. As a result I continued to glide across the highway, desperately trying to maneuver my steering wheel to go straight. I was frantically telling my passenger ' I can't control my wheel!!' within moments I was at the far right side of the highway at this point, and all of a sudden the wheel 'releases', it no longer felt jammed. When this happens my vehicle turns almost 180 degrees, facing the direction of on-coming traffic, and we were immediately hit by huge tractor trailer. The blessing in all this was there were no fatalities, and I am deeply grateful for that. In the aftermath of it all, my vehicle was totaled and I struggled with not being able to fully understand nor explain how and why this happened.

Second time: (8/25/18) in drive-through line at restaurant and steering wheel jerked, power steering warning flashed on dash before car lost all power. I put car in park, restarted car and it happened again. Incident happened at extremely slow speed while making a hard left turn. Restarted car second time no additional problems. First time: (8/8/18) several weeks ago a similar incident happened while my wife was making sharp turn at low speed into a parking space at grocery store. Took car to local Chevy dealership and they replaced a electronic part, module.

When turning into parking lot today at low speed, electrical system went crazy, screen flashed power steering failure, stabilitrac failure, doors locked and unlocked and engine died. Restarted and was fine driving forward and repeated failures again when turning to park in parking space. It is fortunate this was in a parking lot and not on interstate or other main road or while turning at a traffic light.

When traveling at interstate highway speeds vehicle had shaking, shimmying, vibration and buffeting as well as loud hum and wind noise causing nausea resulting in nausea and dizziness to the driver. This was worse on new macadam and on grooved highway but occurred intermittently on other surfaces, I just purchased this vehicle used and it is certified. I was unaware that this is a common issue and understand now that there is no recall to fix this and that GM has not found a permanent solution to the problem. The vehicle was also exhausting to drive on the highway because of the aforementioned issues.

Noise and clunking feel in steering wheel when turning at slower speeds. This has now occurred twice. First repair was at 19627 miles and again at 29906. This had also happened on our previous Suburban. This appears to be a latent defect in the GM design. Loss of steering can occur.

The failures were not diagnosed or repaired. The local dealer (ourisman Chevrolet in alexandria, va) and the manufacturer were notified, but no assistance was offered.
