  • 400 miles

2019 Jetta gli with less than 500 miles equipped with the dsg (automatic) transmission - engine stalls out as soon as the speed of the vehicle reaches 0mph - whether on the highway (bumper to bumper traffic), stopped at red lights, stopped at stop signs, or changing gear to reverse in parking lot or street to get in driveway. The stalling happens regardless of the "auto stop start" feature being disabled or enabled, and happens approximately once every three or more complete stops but usually not for the first 3 when the car is first turned on. The car also makes an audible grinding sound when engine stalls. In all instances once the car has stalled it requires a manual restart by putting the vehicle back in park, and pressing the vehicle start button with brake depressed. In addition to the above stalling, the car has once turned off when started remotely and no passengers inside. I have approached the vehicle approximately 30 seconds after remote start was engaged, opened the truck, loaded a few items, and car turned off. A check engine light came on. Using a vag505 scanner I was able to find 01-engine fault code 15080 and 08-auto HVAC fault code 1048838. Videos of the aforementioned issues have been uploaded to youtube and can be made available via request.

Car randomly shuts stalls. I've had the car 6 days and it's done it four times. Three when stopped or going 5mph or less on highwayy off ramps. Once when going about 20mph in traffic. The car is a manual and all times the clutch was fully depressed.

2019 Jetta S with 1.4L engine and 8 speed automatic transmission, grinding noise when shifting from 4th to 5th under light load. Noise is audible in all drive modes but especially in eco or normal drive modes. Dealer said it was normal operation of the torque converter and that no further service was needed. This noise does not sound safe or healthy for the car or for the occupants within the car. Volkswagen needs to recall and fix these faulty torque converters before they damage cars or hurt someone.

On 10/18//19 I purchased a Volkswagen Jetta S. the next day I started hearing a grinding noise at acceleration speeds of approximately 20-35 mph. In 10/21/2019 I took the Jetta to royal automotive in birmingham al. And after inspecting the car the mechanic (jamey mcelroy) informed me this was a normal sound and was related to the air intake. The scope of work said they did not hear the noise and I made them change the wording as jamey said they did hear the noise. I felt they were covering up the truth by making the paperwork say the noise didn't exist. Please hold Volkswagen accountable and make them fix this problem. I have read several other Jetta owners complaints with the same problem and Volkswagen is turning a blind eye to any repairs. Thank you in advance for your help!

When vehicle reaches 30-40mph, there is a loud rattle sound on the driver side of the vehicle. Sounds as if pipes are loose under the hood or under the car. The rattle sound happens during acceleration randomly at any speed. The sound is reduced when in sport mode and does not make rattle from 0 to 30-40mph, but does make the rattle sound during acceleration. During my research I've noticed there are a ton of my same model vehicle that are having the same issue. I took the car to the dealer two weeks after my purchase to have if checked out, the mechanic brushed me off and said it was normal. My brand new car should not should like pipes are loose and rattle during acceleration. Its really embarrassing and I hope this does not cause a safety issue in the future.

2019 VW gli manual transmission stalls unpredictably when slowing down with the clutch depressed and/or the transmission in neutral. This has happened infrequently, but unpredictably. So far it has only resulted in horn blowing from the car behind, but if it were to happen when turning in front of oncoming traffic it would be very bad. I have been driving manual for 44 years - it is not operator error. This is the same issue as ODI dp 19-003. Started at very low miles, happened most recently at about 2,500 miles.

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

My car is 2 weeks old with 400 miles on the car. Since the odometer had aprox 100 miles on it the car has been having a issue with stalling when coming to a stop. In the past 2 weeks it has stalled aprox 26 times when coming to a stop. I have brought the car back to the dealership for this issue because the car stalled 3 times in a 15 mile drive on the freeway in bumper to bumper traffic. The car is very unpredictable as to when it will decide to stall but becomes a very dangerous situation when commuting on the freeway and it decides to stall. The car is a manual transmission and does not have the auto start stop function but stalls out when coming to a stop. I have informed the dealership that this car is very dangerous to have my family or anyone ride in as you do not know if it will fail and put you at risk of being hit by another vehicle. This is a brand new car and should not have stalling or engine failures at any point let alone having over 20 in a 2 week period. The car is at VW being evaluated but I do not feel comfortable or safe knowing this situation is happening.

My 2019 Jetta began experiencing breaking problems in less than 2 months after purchasing the vehicle. After initial start and drive at idle, the breaking pedal pressure was erratic and causing the car to slam to a complete stop. This condition only seems to occur at idle, and I was told at bringing it into service that the vehicle was operating normally. However, the condition continues to exist and beginning in June, I began having multiple check engine lights for a evap leak. Now at the 7 repairs and having multiple parts replaced, the service at the dealership states that the air intake needed to be replaced. My understanding is the air intake and vacuum systems have a direct correlation with the brake booster pressure. However, I returned the vehicle for service because the readiness monitors for the evap were not set, indicating that a potential issues still exist. Although the cause may not be with air intake, a vacuum/pressure issue does exits causing effects on the other systems. This is very frustrating due to the fact that I had injured my leg in the previous year and the excessive pressure at breaking caused me aggravate the previous injury. On several occasions, I was told be the dealer service that the vehicle was operating normally.

On 9/26/2019 I was driving my 2019 Jetta SE with 1,187.8 miles on main street in santa ana around 5:50 pm. I was on the far left lane at a full stop and proceeded at low speeds onto the left-turning lane. As I continued to pull up onto the left-turning a lane a very loud metallic rattling/scraping noise was heard throughout the cabin coming from I suspect the transmission. I even was able to feel the rattling from the brake peddle as I still had my foot on the peddle. I looked around to see if any other drivers noticed as it was very loud. I made an effort to check on the road to confirm that there was no metallic debris that I may have run over. None was found. I also checked under my car to see if anything was under the engine and can confirm nothing was found. Throughout the drive, when the car would hit between 1300-1500 rpms or 25-35 mph, a very distinct scraping noise can be heard from the driver side. This has not gone away and continues to omit that same distinct sound every time I am driving the vehicle and going from 25-35 mph. It is heard even clearer while on eco mode.

2019 Jetta gli 6mt. Car will stall when coming to a stop in first, second, and neutral. When in neutral, clutch can be either in or out to replicate issue. Has happened when coasting to a stop at <10 mph, as well as when at a stop. Typically takes 2-5 seconds for car to shut down. Car currently has ~600 miles on it, has been happening since I got the car delivered (took delivery at 300 miles due to dealership delivering car to my house).

The problem is with my 2019 manual transmission gli. Even when the clutch is engaged, (foot on the clutch) and the car is coming to a halt, the car stops/stalls. This issue occurs randomly, but once it starts, it keeps happening, until randomly the issue stops showing up. Because of the apparent randomness of when the issue shows up, I have not been able to convince the service folks.

I own a 2019 manual Jetta gli 35 anniversary. While slowing down to a stop light, stop sign etc.. the engine shuts off at slow speeds. Car is not equipped with start/stop feature due to haviing a manual transmission. I have to start car back up before taking back off from light. Major risk of me getting rear ended at a stop light and or stop sign. Apparently Volkswagen cannot figure out issue. Have seen 100's of people with brand new VW's having this problem.

Takata recall: 2019 VW Jetta gli stalls and turns off while in neutral while stationary, as well as in gear and in motion. I'm having an issue, the car has competently died about 6 times. I'm in traffic or come to a stop and the car shuts off, then when I let off on the brake it's completely dead. It says something like please start car manually. Once I pulled in the driveway and the car surged up and down, puttering like it was running out of gas.
