When I drive my vehicle it is difficult to apply the brakes on it and I feel like if I press too hard (which might be necessary if I need to suddenly stop) that the brakes might break or fail somehow. I have also noticed that underneath my truck, the frame is rotting out in certain areas and the leafs (steel long plates near the rear of the vehicle) is bending out of shape. There is a clanking noise near the front of the vehicle that concerns me as well when I pass through a small bump.

The frame is damaged and was told my manufacture was supposed to replace with a new one. The truck looks to be bent in between the middle. I took it to my local dealer and they are having me pay for other areas and not replacing the frame even though it's under recall.

The contact owns a 2000 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that he previously received an unknown recall notice regarding frame corrosion. The remedy for the recall stated that for frames that were severely corroded, they would be replaced. In cases where replacement was not needed, the frames would be undercoated in order to prevent corrosion. Shottenkirk Toyota quincy (located at 5333 broadway St, quincy, il 62305, 217-929-9852) did not perform either remedy referenced in the recall. While the vehicle was having an alignment performed, the contact was informed that the frame was severely corroded. The contact called shottenkirk Toyota and was informed that they could not replace the frame because the recall repair was deemed completed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that they were unable to perform the remedy for the recall due to the time limitation. The approximate failure mileage was 23,000.

The truck is in awesome condition except the frame. Toyota has replaced the frames in other trucks in the past but are unwilling to take into consideration the one I own. I feel very unsafe driving it, and don't want to get rid of it because of its one negative thing. I'm going to include some photos so you can judge if you wish. If their is anything your company do to help me, it'll be greatly appreciated. I have reach out to Toyota in the past and all they've said was that their is no recall on the truck anymore. Its very sad because their is plenty of these trucks out there, and are very unsafe to the owner and pedestrians around us. They should recall certain ones like the one I own on account of its condition. Thank you very much for your time.

Frame rust so bad truck will not pass state inspection. This condition found on annual state inspection. From pics mechanic took, I am now afraid to drive vehicle. Some attachment brackets/bars not even connected and rusted completely in half. I called Toyota corporate and they said there was no recall on this vehicle nor any type of buy back program for it. Sad that this truck was not repaired as this was a known issue with 2000-2003 Tundra and now I am stuck with a vehicle that Toyota will not repair due to age. Seems this repair work should be available to any consumer who owns the vehicle if the recall work has never been performed on the vehicle? I am just second owner of vehicle and have only owned the vehicle just over a year. Although high mileage, this truck runs and looks great.
