On March 13, 2015 driving on I-95 South in a 2006 Toyota Sienna van the cruise control would not disengage when the brakes were applied approaching an exit ramp. The vehicle would not slowdown in spite of pressing the brake pedal as hard as possible. Moving the control lever forward to disengage the function was also not successful. The exit ramp was inclined so the cruise control accelerated the engine in an attempt to maintain our speed at 70 mph. The vehicle went thru a stop sign, bounced off the guard rail and came to a sudden stop with the engine not running. The impact destroyed the right side of the vehicle and the stopping was so abrupt that the cell phone (in my shirt pocket)flew out ripping the pocket off the shirt. Neither the front nor the side air bags were deployed. Skid marks made by the vehicle's right front tire (and possibly the rear right tire) prior to and after hitting the guard rail indicate the brakes were working on at least this side. Skid marks attributable to the left hand tires were not noticed.
The SRS warning light on my 2006 Toyota Sienna went on. On checking with Toyota service, I was told that it would cost me $624/- to fix the problem. They had reported that there was a B0111 (opening in switch core error) that happened. This is a safety issue with the Toyota Sienna and must be part of a factory recall. There are numerous other folks with similar complaints on the Toyota Sienna 2006 model. My wife stated that when she started up the van, the airbag light came on and stayed flashing the entire time she was driving. I checked for myself and found the same issue. I referenced the owners manual which stated that it needs to be taken to service immediately.
Driving my daughter home from school the SRS indicator light came on in dashboard and began flashing. This is the "drivers side" indicator, not the passenger side indicator located beneath the clock.
My airbag light came on. I took it to a Toyota dealership for repair. They ordered the part, but then also informed me I needed a new water pump. I had the water pump repaired, then several weeks later the airbag part came in, but I didn't have the money to have it repaired. I still have the part. Now there is a recall on some Toyota models, but I did not find a recall specific to my vehicle. I think my vehicle should maybe be included in this recall. What do I need to do? I do not have the money to have the airbag part installed and repaired. Just let me say I love, love, love my 2006 Sienna. I will keep it until it dies.

The airbag light began blinking. I took it to the dealership for a diagnosis and was told that both air bags would need to be replaced at a cost of nearly $1,500. Our Sienna only has 86K miles on it and has not been in an accident. From my research, this air bag problem with this particular vehicle has garnered several complaints. It is my opionion that this is a known issue at Toyota and should be subject to a recall.
Was involved in a mvc where the vehicle went off the road, the front end hit first over an embankment, and then the vehicle proceeded to roll multiple times. There were no airbags to deploy, yet the airbag sensors on the front of vehicle were smashed flat? there wash total loss of the vehicle. Requesting an investigation of the vehicle airbags as to why they did not deploy. Vehicle has already been released to salvage yard by the insurance company but a "hold" has been placed on the vehicle pending an investigation.
Airbag warning light has been on since approximately mid July 2014. I received a warranty enhancement notice from Toyota (regarding a side airbag connector may have been improperly manufactured in 2006 Sienna) which requested that I contact a Toyota dealership to determine if this condition is covered by the warranty enhancement "at no charge to you" particularly if the airbag light is on. When I called two different dealerships to check the vehicle, both dealerships told me I had to pay over $100 for the testing. The second dealership said they would cover the fee for the testing only and if the problem was the one listed on the warranty-but I would not know that until after the testing was done-so they would charge me for the screening after the testing ruled out a side airbag connector issue-over $100. I called the Toyota number listed on the warranty several times and spoke with Toyota representatives but they ultimately stated my issue was with the dealership-not Toyota. They refused to put me through to a supervisor only "colleagues". I do not think I should pay anything to be screened for this issue and when I reread the warranty that is what it clearly indicates-" no charge".
The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Sienna. While stopped at a traffic light with the brakes engaged, the vehicle accelerated independently. As a result, the contact crashed into another vehicle and the air bags failed to deploy. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Air bag SRS sensor light flashing intermittently flashing off and on. This is a life/safety issue, as I do not know if I can rely on my SRS system to properly function or not. It is also extremely agitating and distracting when driving overnight and/or on long distances, to have a dashboard warning light flash off and on. The SRS light was first observed flashing several times in March 2010, but then stopped. It started flashing again while on a cross-state trip in December 2010. As I had, my wife and two young children in the van, I immediately pulled off the road and called the dealership (Toyota of richardson, richardson tx). I was advised at that time that it would be safe for me to continue with my trip. When I returned home, I took the car to the dealership. The dealer took no action stating on the service ticket the SRS light was ""?not flashing today"?". to date, the SRS light continues to flash on and off at weeks or months at a time. From the internet, I recently learned that a tsb #284073 (NHTSA action number: 10034130) was issued by Toyota to its dealerships back on June 23, 2010 (six months before I brought the vehicle in), as well as three earlier tsb's (EL001-08, tsb-0252-08 & tsb-0162-10) all related to SRS lamp/sensors. To date, I still do not know if I have a properly functioning SRS system. I also note that of the 684 complaints currently registered with the NHTSA, involving the 2006 Toyota Sienna, more than one-third (33%) of those complaints (234) involve the air bag sensor/light issue. In July 2013, my van was involved in a rear-end collision. The air bag did not deploy. Was its failure to deploy due to the nature/intensity of the impact, or the fact that the SRS system is not properly functioning? I have no assurance it works properly. At this late date, I guess I'll simply be complaint #685. Thank you
TL - the contact owns a 2006 Toyota Sienna. While attempting to drive the vehicle, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 79,529. Jcc
2006 Toyota Sienna air bag light is lit. Possible air bag malfunction. Received a letter from Toyota to make an appointment to fix the problem, but they want you to pay for the diagnostic test if the part they deemed to be defective is ok. This has not yet led to any crash, injury, etc. If there is a problem with the air bag system, and Toyota is aware of the problem, and they are as evidenced by the letter received, then these cars should be recalled and fixed with out charge to the consumer.
Airbag light came on so I took my car to the Toyota dealership. I was advised that my airbag wiring harness system needs to be replaced. The van has 79K miles and it was only covered for 3 years/36K miles. How is an unused airbag defective" where is the consumer safety" should be a lifetime guarantee especially since the airbag was unused. Why should my family be at risk for the product that hinders its usability for the purpose for which it was designed for.
The air bag light comes on as expected when the van is started. Then instead of going out, it flashes the entire time the car is on. This happens intermittently. Sometimes if the van is shut off and restarted, the light will go out. But then a couple days later, it will flash again. I have no idea whether or not my airbags would actually deploy in the event of an accident. Research shows that this is a known issue that has happened to many other people. Repairs are expensive for van owners and the issue returns after repairs. Please consider an investigation of this issue. There are those of us who cannot afford thousands of dollars to even attempt to fix our vans, and we have no choice other than to drive our families around in unsafe vehicles with our fingers crossed that we don't get in an accident. The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that while completing a left turn, another vehicle crashed into the side of the contact's vehicle. The front air bags deployed but the side curtain air bags did not. The contact, and five passengers sustained head injuries from the impact and were transported to the hospital for treatment. A police report was not filed of the incident. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000. The VIN was not available.
The drivers air bags light gets on and off, but mainly keeps on. I took it to the dealer and said it was fine and the light was off all the time that they were checking it, but the problem continued.
The airbag light comes on even though the airbags have never been deployed. It goes off for a while then will come back on. Toyota will do nothing about it.
