The airbag sensors for my passenger seat do not work. Regardless of if there is someone sitting in the passenger seat, buckled it, the system indicates that there is no one sitting in the seat and that they are not buckled in. This is of course a safety issue since the airbags would likely not go off even if someone was sitting in the seat. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request. They first appeared shortly after I purchased the vehicle from the last owner. The vehicle was lightly used and is very clean, and I have no reason to believe the passneger seat was abused in any way. My concern is this: this airbag sensor issue is a recall I have seen for other 2010 Toyota Priuses. I understand that in the systems, this recall does not show up for my car. However, I think it's interesting and worth looking into that I have the same make, model, and year, and my vehicle is having the exact same issues. This is an issue that was not triggered by any crash/collision, and I did not have anyone even sitting in my passenger seat prior to this issue, so it seems to be purely a system issue that I could not have prevented myself.

The driver airbag deployed without an accident while driving in the highway. The airbag deployment caused near control lost of the car. I was lucky to not have any other cars near me so I managed to get the car safely out of the highway. The airbag deployment was scary and caused me not able to see through the windshield due to the gas from the airbag.

The airbag light on my 2010 Prius intermittently goes on and off. I have brought it to Toyota as well as my mechanic to see if anyone can find the problem. I've been told I need to change the seat and or the weight sensor isn't working. When I looked at the numerous PRius websites this is unbelievably common!

I inherited a 2010 Toyota Prius 3rd generation when my mother passed a few years ago. I've since had several unnecessary and costly problems with the car as well as dealership's outlook, treatment, and indifference to the danger that their customers face--as many already have. The following are situations that I'm experiencing now. First, I was recently leaving the pharmacy when all of my warning lights (ABS, brake, traction ) suddenly came on and my brakes failed as I was heading home. I'm a single mother of a special needs child and I had to get home to her. I was approximately 1 mile from my home and I was nearly in 3 accidents that could've been catastrophic. Thankfully the road was dry, clear, and with little traffic. We have been homebound for weeks, without transportation for doctors, food, etc. Our vehicle is our only means of transportation, and we must get to doctor appointments, etc. Second, the car has inexplicably stalled twice. Third, I'm constantly having to replace lights, and have been pulled over by the police for lights not working. Finally, an airbag has been recalled and once I can afford it I'll get that fixed as well. I spoke with my local Toyota dealerships, and after explaining the problems, I was informed (several times as I was repeatedly transferred) that I had to pay an inspection fee that also changed with each person. Finally, I was told I had to leave my car there for days and that I was going to pay thousands of dollars to fix the car. I'm unable to pay that much money--and the amount kept changing as well. I have researched these problems and now understand the methodology and intimidation used on poor people such as myself. Toyota should be ashamed. Fix these problems that will endanger and possibly kill your customers for nothing more than their own incompetence and greed.

My 2010 Toyota Prius has leather seats and the passenger side light is coming on. According to Toyota recall there was a problem with the leather seats and calibration.the sensor on the passenger side is not communicating with the front airbag so when you sit down and buckle in it does not activate the front airbag. A seatbelt and airbag light is constantly on.

Air bags failed to deploy in car crash: My 2010 Prius was stuck by another car who ran a red light, in the front right (passenger side). The car that struck me was traveling approx 35mph and pushed my car (also traveling approx. 35mph) into the path of a wooden telephone pole that suspended the traffic lights over the intersection. My car traveled about 20-30 feet further and stopped when my car hit the pole head on. The telephone pole broke in two in the impact. None of my air-bags deployed. The police report is incorrect regarding the airbags. I have contacted the police department to amend the report. As seen in the accompanying photographs, the air bags did not deploy, contrary to the police report.

I was on the freeway in traffic, going 60 mph. There was road construction coming up ahead. I depressed the brake pedal and nothing happened. The car didn't slow down at all and I crashed into another vehicle. My car was manufactured when the 'voluntary safety recall' by Toyota was supposed to address this, but I received no notification, nor did thousand oaks Toyota, where I had the car serviced, communicate about it.
