The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving 80 MPH, the vehicle independently decelerated to 20 MPH with several unknown warning lights illuminated. Additionally, the vehicle lost braking functionality with the brake pedal being depressed to the floorboard. Despite the failure, the contact was able to drive the vehicle to the residence, and later had the vehicle towed to a dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle with a failed high-pressure fuel pump. The contact had previously received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V682000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the dealer stated that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

The contact turned off the A/C and then turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was restarted, and the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that while the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle inadvertently accelerated at rapid speed then decelerated without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the contact stated that no diagnostic test was performed due to the cost. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact refenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V682000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) as a possible cause for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.

The -??Low Braking Power-?? message was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V682000 (Fuel System, Gasoline), and the vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be repaired. Upon return of the vehicle, the contact stated that the failure persisted. The contact's mother had accelerated at a stoplight and the brake pedal had failed to operate as needed upon depression. The same -??Low Braking Power" warning light was illuminated. Her mother also stated that the "stop in a safe place" and "maintenance required" messages also appeared on the instrument panel. The vehicle was driven to the contact's home without the proper braking functionality. The same dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided a diagnostic fee. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 8. Consumer would like to add after picking up the car from dealer there has been excessive amount of oil leak which dealer has not mentioned.

Once the vehicle was serviced, the contact stated that the check engine warning light reappeared less than 12 hours after the repair.
