CarComplaints.com Notes: Owners are reporting that their engines are running out of oil awfully quick. As in, 1 quart every 1,200 miles. Toyota maintains that’s with the “normal†operating range of the 2AZ-FE while owners maintain that’s complete BS.
This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
I live in fl and my dashboard is melting. This is causing a huge glare when I drive on the window. Being 90 years old I consider this to be a safety hazard. I have also seen this same issue on the NHTSA database. Toyota wants to charge me $1,000 for a new dashboard but to me this should be covered due to the large number of people with the same issue.
The dashboard has a sticky residue on the entire surface. The residue can cause a distracting sun glare at certain times of the day. I have tried cleaning it with several non abrasive products and it is still a persistent problem.
Began noticing the dashboard was beginning to feel very sticky & could not be wiped off. It progressively got worse, bugs sticking to it & not able to wipe off. Couldn't use sun shades as the bottom would rip from being stuck. The worst, however, is the glare that causes almost blindness when driving. You just can't hardly see & I believe that is a danger & something should have been done years ago about this problem. Mine has been in this shape for the last 3 years or more.
During the past year I have noticed my dashboard melting. The dashboard is sticky and is now shiny. It has progressively gotten so bad that at this point it is causing a glare on the windshield which is obstructing the driver's view.
My dashboard has been melting for over a year now. At first it was a little sticky, but now it flakes if you touch it. My husband ordered me a cover over the dashboard because it was causing a glare and it was hard for me to see. I talked to the Toyota dealership and they said there had not been a recall on it. It would cost $2800 to replace it. Something needs to be done because there have been many complaints about the dash causing an obstruction.
The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the dashboard had melted. The manufacturer was not contacted. There was no diagnosis or repairs completed on the vehicle. The failure mileage was 77,000. Updated 09/15/14
I have a Toyota Camry 2008 with 31,500 miles dashboard are melty and sticky, my concern is this affect air bags also this looks like a manufacture defect due to many complains on networks. I went to a Toyota dealer they're willing to replace the dashboard and I have to pay for labor. That's is telling you they are aware of the problem. I decide to fixed but I told them is any recall comes up they will need to reimburse my money due to this is factory defect. This is a safety hazard we are not sure this affect airbags and shine reflect on the dashboard can affect your vision while you are driving.
My dashboard has practically melted. It shines and reflects onto the windshield while I'm driving, impairing my vision. Whenever I try to wipe it, whatever I'm using sticks to it and won't come off without tearing and leaving pieces on it. Not only is it an eyesore, but it makes it very difficult to drive.
I have 2008 Camry and have had a melting dashboard for few years. This is absolutely a safety issue because the melted surface reflects sunlight onto the windshield making it difficult to see through the glare. In addition the melted dashboard could fuse with the airbag cover and cause it to malfunction. I question what kind of chemicals may be released in the air as well.
The issue with my 2008 Toyota Camry, is the dash board is starting to melt. Thus making it hard to see while driving. I'm concerned with this because it can be a safety issue while on the road.
Dashboard is melting and shrinking, some of the buttons like mirrors are getting deep inside impossible to reach with the fingers as usual, it is cracking and sticky, you can see cracks and groves around, it picks up all dust and anything that gets to the dashboard. I took the car to service few times but they never talk about the issue, even when it was happening in my car.
Dashboard is melting and very sticky. This is causing it to be very shiny and causing a dangerous glare in the windshield that makes it very difficult to see oncoming traffic.
Dashboard is melting, very sticky and makes a reflexion on the windshield that make it very difficult to drive. Sun visor driver side does not stay up, suddenly fails to work properly causing extremelly dificult time for driving. Both issues put the life of the driver and passengers in danger.
I have a 2008 Toyota Camry and noticed several months ago that the dashboard started to have a sticky feeling. I live in West palm beach, fl and within the last few days I noticed an article on the channel 5 news station that had a report on the melting dash in these cars. After reading several complaints from other Camry drivers, I know I'm not the only one. This seems to be a "recall" issue with Toyota and they need to fix it! I've seen the estimates other drivers have received after speaking with Toyota and they seem to charge around $2500 for the replacement of the dashboard; and it's not even the responsibility of the driver! this is a growing problem and Toyota needs to start taking care of it now! I will never buy another Toyota again, regardless of the hype of their everlasting products.
Since the temperature started to rise here in tx, my 2008 Camry dashboard has become extremely sticky. When I tried cleaning it, I noticed that my finger nail chipped away pieces of the dashboard. While trying to wipe the dashboard, the rag is also sticking to the dashboard. This is very concerning to me, I've never encountered this. This is clearly a manufacturer defect.
