I went in for a routine oil change for my 2007 Toyota SE took it the toyota dealership and the service assistant asked me when I was there last for an oil change. I told him the usual according to the sticker in the window, I was right on schedule for this oil change by the way. he indicated that my dip stick was dry. He looked puzzled and I was shocked no lights had come on and I knew that I had not seen any oil spots in my parking spots. So we discussed oil leaks under the car, (none) and going elsewhere for oil changes (never) lights coming on (no). He indicated I should be very conscious of oil spots when I pull out of spaces. Ok no problem I did that. (nothing) In two weeks or less I am not sure (less than 200 miles) my oil light came on and I could not understand what was going on. Again I took it in to Toyota and yes you guessed it, my car was down almost a quart and a half. So begins the oil consumption test every two/three weeks. did this for almost TWO MONTHS and the oil was lower than it should be each time (about 3-4 visits). Around the fourth time I took it in I was told it was where it was supposed to be and therefore nothing was wrong with my car. I don't believe them. I trusted -- notice I said "trustED" past tense this dealership's service department but now I am not so sure. I think they are waiting for my warranty to be over (less than 6 months) so that I can either spend a ridiculous amount of money out of my pocket for the repair, which I don't have or buy a new car which is not at all possible. If I did I don't' know if I would buy a Toyota after this problem. They won't show or give me service bulletins they just said the bulletins are simply to let them know that there is a problem. Heck yeah there is a problem, I love my car and haven't had any real problems so far and I only have about 55,000 miles but engine trouble is nothing to play around with long term and I am not a happy camper at all to have this problem with my Toyota! What is going on TOYOTA???! Look at these complaints - take care of our cars and keep your customers happy! Figure out the problem and do a recall so we can get our car engines taken care of!!!! I am really Trying to remain a loyal Toyota customer.

gripe, rant, yell, is an understatement ! Kick Toyota A _ _ is what I want us all to do, How dare them! 2007 Camry, yes, another to add to the mile long list of Camry's with an oil consumption issue. Count me in on a class action suit: hmm has one been started..Just 4 weeks ago oil change, Monday, got another 1000 miles to go, stopped in to check level, EMPTY, WHAT TH F... No oil he said! Can't be! I was in shock! Every complaint I have read leads me to believe Toyota isn't going to fix this problem. What now? Class action here I come, let's get this party started!

This is unacceptable for a 20 + thousand dollar car to use 1.5 quarts of oil ever 1000 miles no leaks just uses oil. this car was serviced by toyota dealership up until 60000 miles and when I took over doing my own maintenance. that's when I discovered that the car was using excessive oil amounts.I have used the recommended 5/20 oil.

Just wondering has anyone been successful with legal action against these clowns.

I will not buy Toyota product again if this is the service we are suppose to expect from them.

The last 4 oil changes i have recieved from the dealer, they have told me I have a small oil leak and that the car was low on oil. Well I have had my car parked in my friends garage for 2 months at a time for a period of 8 months and no oil has ever showed up on the floor. So that tells me it has to be burning it instead of leaking. Yesterday I had a oil change again and one of the employees told me this has been an issue so he offered to put my car on a "Oil consumption test log" Toyota is well aware of the problem but everyone is saying they won't do anything about it. I hope we can get together and Make them deal in good faith to take care of the problem.

I have just left the Toyota Dealership, in Pensacola, Florida, with very unsettling and suspect feelings. My 2007 Camry is consuming an excessive amount of oil. No oil leaks, no visual, obvious issues, however, in between my 2 previous oil changes, approx. 84,000 miles, I have had to go back and top my oil due to the oil light coming on. The dealership offered the 1200 mile oil consumption test. Obviously the dealer was aware of the issue since the 1200 mile consumption test has been recommended to the previous clients. The mileage was used as a scape goat to disguise the already pre existing issue. By the way my extended warranty plan sold to me by Toyota, bumper to bumper, excluded this very same defect. Is this coincidence or collusion?

Toyota needs to be consistent and honorable to survive in the car industry business. I am seeking to have my vehicle repaired, and all other vehicles, with this very same issue, repaired to avoid a possible class action lawsuit against them.

Hi, everyone yes another complaint about Camry 07. I purchased my Camry at the end of winter 2011, it had 129000 km. A week after i bought it i replaced the engine oil and since it recommended 0w20 or 5w20 I decided to kick it up a notch and put 5w20 full synthetic oil. I must be honest I was very proud of my Camry, I love the look and the drive of the car. Much to my surprise a month later I decided to check my fluid levels and I noticed I was missing 1 L of oil . So this raised some concern, of course I started checking my oil often, and sure enough every 1500 km I had to add 1 L of oil.

I did not know that this was a common problem until now. But rest assure I will get myself informed about this from TOYOTA CANADA.

One more thing I talked to a few people and someone recommended a engine flush, so I did it and after I replaced the engine oil with a HI/LOW 0W30 FULL SYTEC BLEND OIL. So I will see in 1500 km if I am missing any oil .

If my results are positive I will let you know soon.

I just read an identical problem on your website and I had to echo it. I bought a brand new 2007 Toyota Camry. About four years later and about 65,000-70,000 miles later, all of a sudden the emergency engine oil light came on. I fumbled for the manual and it said "pull over and do not drive the car." Turns out, I had 1 1/2 quarts of oil left in my car, and it had been less than 5,000 miles since my last oil change. I brought the car to the dealer, which led to months and months of tests, calls to mechanic friends of mine, and then lodging a complaint with Toyota USA. The answer: it is normal to lose up to 1 quart of oil every 1,200 miles. Do the math! If they say you need an oil change every 5,000 miles, by that time you would have no oil left in your car! Meanwhile, Toyota put out a Technical Service Bulletin on this issue, but since I had over 60,000 miles (but less than 5 years), I was out of luck. The dealer said it would cost approx. $4,000 to fix. Mechanic friends said that even if it was fixed it would happen again. So, I got rid of the car. This makes me very sad and very mad because I had assumed I would keep it for years and years -- that's why I bought a Toyota in the first place, supposedly it was the safest, most reliable car on the road.

I purchased a Camry because of its reliability and longevity. I purchased my camary brand new and have had my car services at the same dealer since the purchase. I have done ALL of the recommended services. I brought my car in for a oil change and was told that my car had NO OIL UPON ARRIVAL. So, the dealership put me on an oil consumption test, which took almost 6 months. They had me come in every 1200 miles to check the oil. This process was long, because they kept writing the wrong mileage, so they would tell me that they emptied the oil, and we will run another consumption test. 20,000 miles later, they say its not eating enough oil for the Toyota Manf. to do anything about. So, I come back after the normal 3000 mile threshold for oil changes and my camry was completely empty, NO OIL! It amazes me how a car with 60,000 miles the time of fist oil test, such as a Toyota, can eat ANY oil at all. Now I have to pay for a rental car while they look at my car to find the problem, and the representative tells me that Toyota manf. is willing to pay up to 70% of the cost. Really?!. So, I am paying for a manufacturers defect. I will never purchase a Toyota product again! It's a shame because I was looking into buying a new one and giving this one to my daughter.

"Engine pressure low"came on; no prior warnings like temp or add oil now. oil last changed 6 months ago. I put on 7300 miles since; went to garage (before dealer) and they said no leaks; not a drop oil around; nothing on dip stick and top of dip stick is burned and that it looks like dealer didn't "top off" oil at last change. Flatbedded car to dealer; dealer says "its gunky" need new engine. (note engine hasn't seized ..yet)

60,000 mile warranty on power train ran out months ago; dealer says because i waited to change oil at 7,300 miles rather than recommended 5,000 miles it's all my fault. Several other people tell me that if oil were changed correctly there should be some indication of oil left at 7,300 miles; am interested in joining or starting class action

as with others, loss of oil. was told in book that 1.1 qts. per 600 miles was acceptable. Its NOT.. its their way of covering their ass.. at 56 yrs. I've had a lot of cars.. and lots of miles. I've been told its a ring problem. Now doing the oil consumption test. go 1200 miles and see where it is. Its a damn shame, my first Toyota and its the sh*ts!!! And of course i was not told about the issue knowing that I would not purchase a car that I have to put $7in oil every 5 weeks. I may have a better chance because I'm using an extended warranty (how ever you spell it) I'm doing the test but am looking to get out of it and will NEVER buy another toyota product again and will tell anyone I meet about the issue.
