Toyota takata recall and spiral cable assembly: 2011 Toyota 4runner horn stopped functioning. This vehicle, according to NHTSA, is affected by the takata airbag recall. On Sept 2, 2017, Toyota dealer diagnosed spiral cable assembly as cause of horn failure. Given the faulty spiral cable assembly as the cause of the horn failure and the apparent cause of the airbag malfunction, this faulty part raises two serious safety issues: No horn, potentially explosive airbag. Following the dealer service, we filed a concern with Toyota on Sept 5, 2017. Toyota customer service insisted on Sept. 12, 2017 that the vehicle is safe. We do not believe the vehicle is safe. The problem started while the car was in motion.

Takata recall causing undo stress because of the length of time it is taking to get notification to repair these airbags. Need to get this done right away. I am scared to drive this car!!!
Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). A recall was issued for the takata airbags in my 2011 Toyota 4runner and I was advised in the notification that no passengers should be allowed to travel sitting in the front passenger seat of my vehicle. I shared this information with my son and daughter-in-law and they will not allow my grandchildren to ride in my vehicle due to the reports that upon deployment the airbags cause metal fragments to disperse causing injury to include fatalities from the projectiles emitted from the deployment of the takata airbags. There is no remedy for this issue. I have loss the use of my front passenger seat and the ability to Transport my grandchildren. This issue must be remedy immediately. Takata recall I received a recall notice over a year ago about my airbag being recalled. As of yet, my car has not been fixed. I use my car frequently to Transport other people including my elderly mother who I Transport to grocery store, dr appointments, church, etc. She sometimes gets car sick in the back seat so I have to make other arrangements for her to be transported. On a recent trip from the hospital, I had to let her sit in the front seat because she was nauseated and couldn't sit in the back seat. I think that I have been more than patient and it's time for this to be fixed. Over a year is a ridiculous amount of time to take for the repair.

Takata recall--Toyota continues to say remedy not avaiable yet it has been over a year since recall was issued. I thought recalls are supposed to be taken care of in a timely manner. I think this safety recall needs to be addressed now. To add fuel to the fire I just received a class action lawsuit against Toyota and I am supposed to put in a claim or exclude myself by Sept. 25, 2017 (just what the hell am I supposed to do now)? (makes a person want to buy a Chevy)( red tape sucks)
Takata recall; we were notified about the airbag recall well over a year ago but there is still no remedy. I know sending the recall letter takes the "heat" off Toyota for any injuries that may occur should the airbag deploy and injure someone but this is my son's car, that he uses every single day! we have asked Toyota for updates; they say they have none. We have asked if they will allow us to just trade in the car; they say no. We have asked if we can have a loaner car until the remedy is available to fix my son's car; they decline. My son's well being is too important to me to ignore this any more. It is ridiculous that more has not been done to 1. find a solution to the problem, and 2. either allow customers to trade their car in or give them a loaner car. What is a life worth?
I have been waiting since may of 2016 and there still is no sign of when these airbags will be replace. We are unable to use this vehicle because of family size.
