The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH and slowing for a traffic signal, the vehicle's four tires locked up due to the ABS system failure. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact's vehicle skidded into the rear end of another vehicle. The contact's grill and bumper were damaged and broken as well as the inter-cooler radiator had suffered damage. The other vehicle sustained a crushed trunk. There were no injuries sustained by either the contact or the driver of the other vehicle. The police were on the scene and filed a report. Both vehicles were drivable, the contact drove his vehicle to a body shop. The contact did not have the vehicle diagnosed or repaired for the ABS problem. The contact stated that since the accident the ABS light illuminates intermittently and the brakes have locked up when the contact had been towing a trailer (approximately 14,000 lbs. of weight). The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

The contact stated that a warning chime would sound as the ABS and traction control warning lights illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred him to a dealer for a diagnostic test. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle with a defective anti-lock brake system (ABS) and hydraulic control unit (HCU) that needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 19,000. The contact stated that the necessary part for repair is on backorder. The vehicle slides in the rain and they are not confident in driving in the snow. The vehicle also cannot be used to tow a trailer now due to the trailer brakes not activating. The contact provided the repair in which FCA paid half of the repairs for the vehicle minus the amount for the diagnostic fee.
