I have dash lights going on and off for the ABS and traction control. This is very intermitted. On two occasions I have experienced times where I had to slam on the brakes to avoid an accident. Both times the ABS failed to work causing me to come to near collision with another vehicle. One of the times this caused me to go off into a ditch. This was with slick roads and snow covered in areas. Have also had several times the truck would steer out of control with no traction aid. I am constantly losing speed control using cruise control. It will work for a bit and then turn off when the ABS and traction control lights come on.
Second failure of ABS system in 2 years. Error code c0020-1 for failed ABS HCU part number 68143491AB. Replacement parts are currently unavailable from manufacture and has been in the status for nearly 6 months. Service center is unable to restore functionality of brake systems and vehicle has been un-driveable due to ABS safety concerns since October 2022. As stated this is my second failure with same part, first failure was in Sept 2020.
ABS light and alarm come on and goes off at random intervals. This issue was repaired before on 03/04/2020 and now the issue is reoccurring when rain or hight humidity. The original ABS code on the system was C0020-01 (ABS pump motor control - general failure). The HCU part #68143491AA was replaced and ABS module the issue corrected. My concern is that the ABS is disabled on the vehicle once the condition occurs and could result in loss of control during a hard or panic stop. I pull a 7,000 lb trailer and am concerned that if a hard stop occurs the truck could start sliding and cause the truck and the traile to lose control.
Abs unit, hcu failed. Lights flash on an off over an over while driving. ABS light stays on so ABS will not work. Cruise control will not work. Keeps throwing service abs, and service electronic brake controller
Left front caliper locked up upon lightly pressing brake pedal and brake pedal pulsing while towing approx 10k lbs. ABS and traction control light were illuminated. C0020 code - ABS Pump motor control. Truck has had 4 other similar issues without locking up caliper yet resulting in replacement of HCU and ABS model. At 58,536 miles truck has been at dealer for 60 days needing 5th replacement of HCU and ABS pump that is not available to order per RAM Customer Care case# 85015233

ABS light and alarm come on and goes off at random intervals. This issue was repaired before on 10/06/2020 and now the issue is reoccurring. The original ABS code on the system was C0020-01 (ABS pump motor control - general failure). The HCU part #68143491AA was replaced and the issue corrected. My concern is that the ABS is disabled on the vehicle once the condition occurs and could result in loss of control during a hard or panic stop. I pull a 12,000 lb camper and am concerned that if a hard stop occurs the truck could start sliding and cause the truck and the camper to lose control.
Faulty break module. Dash reads service antilock break system, ABS light on in dash, traction control light on as well. Cruise control will not work because of this issue. Intermittent occurrences at first, now constant after 3 years. It has been taken to multiple dealerships, while under warranty with these exact problems. No results! An independent service center diagnosed this issue and has ordered the part. Have been waiting two months now still nothing.
The service abs and anti lock brake light comes on and off. I have talked with 3 different dealers and they all told me the abs module is probably bad. The part is on backorder for the last year, so I can-??t get it fixed.
ABS / Traction Control lights began intermittently turning on. After roughly 5k miles, the lights are on all the time. The truck is throwing code C0020-01. From looking around online, this is certainly not a unique situation. The fact that there is an updated HCU (P/N 68143491AB) to be released later this year, shows that this is a known issue.
ABS and traction control systems are malfunctioning. Dodge dealer states that the abs module and hcu need to be replaced which both are on back order. Roughly $1500 worth of parts and labor are required to fix issue at my cost. Truck has 80,000 miles currently and problem started about 1000 miles/month ago. Both abs and traction control lights flash on/off constantly.
ABS failure i have taken my truck to the dealership 3 times to have the ABS module replaced due to failure.my truck only has 67,223 miles on it.the ABS lights comeon the dash and Traction control lights as well when this happens.this needs to be investigated and resolved.please help me and so many others with this issue, Thank you.
Truck continuously warns and chimes to "Service Electronic Brake System." Truck no longer has working ABS. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/inv/2022/INOA-PE22012-9925.PDF
ABS module and hydraulic control units replaced in 2019, after driving the truck less than 20k miles the exact same issues have returned. Truck is out of warranty now, no cruise control, ABS, or traction control. Very common issue amongst 2017-2018 Rams. Second issue happened recently when temps dropped below freezing. DEF system fault - DEF injector checked for crystallization. No crystals - truck will go into limp mode rendering it useless due to an inferior component manufacture is aware of and have addressed on new models but have not afforded older models a solution.
Around the 1st of October I started to get the Service Electronic Braking System and ABS warning lights on my Ram 2500 so I took it into Rairdon-??s in Bellingham, WA on November 8, 2022. (Note- it took me 4 weeks to get an appointment to take it in) I was informed that the HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) is faulty and to replace it first and if the fault code comes back then replace the ABS module. Never heard back on the HCU part ETA so I called back to the dealership on November 15, 2022 and was told the HCU will now be in January 18, 2023. Once again when I contacted the dealership on January 8, 2023 and I was told the HCU is now pushed out to March 15, 2023. So I have to wait 4 months (if it shows up to the dealership in March) to get a Mopar part to fix my vehicle?
My dash will randomly start flashing the messages "service electronic braking system" and "service antilock brake system". Sometimes this happens as soon as I start the vehicle, other times it happens while driving down the road. Sometimes it seems as if a bump in the road will trigger the messages, others are random. When the messages are there, the traction control feature does not work. I do not know if the abs system will work or not as I have been lucky enough to not have to test that. Also, while the messages are present, the cruise control function will not work.
2017 Ram 2500. ODO 77,000 miles While driving at any speed, warning lights and audible tones intermittently come on. Display reads "Service Electronic Braking System" and "Service ABS". ABS and Traction Control lights also illuminate on the dash. Sometimes the warnings will come on and off so fast that the truck is constantly chiming which is very distracting. Speed doesn't appear to be a factor. Sometimes the warning lights stay illuminated. Sometimes they go away. Sometimes they flash on a off rapidly. Truck has not been taken to the dealership yet but an appointment has been made and the dealer said it is most likely the ABS module and Hydraulic Control Unit that needs to be replaced. This sounds like a known issue. Safety issues I am concerned about are: Loss of ABS and traction control. Trailer braking system issues while towing (horse trailer). Distractions from audible alarm constantly chiming, loss of braking power.
Starting roughly a year from the date of this report, the vehicle would randomly issue a warning "Service Electronic Braking System" and turn on the Traction Control and ABS warning indicators; it would also disable Cruise Control. These errors would appear sporadically and persists for a few seconds to a few minutes. The dealer was unable to diagnose as the error was not actively triggered at the dealership. Over time, the error happened more often and persisted for longer time periods (minutes, hours, then days) but would eventually (and randomly) reset. It became clear that it was oftent triggered by a sharp jolt or a tight turn. Recently the error stayed on permanently and the dealer was able to retrieve an error code which led them to suspect a faulty connector. It took 6 weeks to get the connector and when the dealer attempted to install it they came to the conclusion that both the wiring harness and the connector are OK. They were able to retrieve additional error codes that pointed at the HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit) of the ABS system needing replacement. No HCU units are currently available. I have conducted extensive online research concerning this issue and the four symptoms: 1. "Service Electronic Braking System" message 2. Traction control indicated lit and traction control disabled 3. ABS indicator lit and ABS disabled 4. Cruise Control disabled and found that there are a large number of reports for RAM 1500 and 2500 models with mileage as low as 12,000 miles. This appears to be a wide spread failure of the HCU component that points at a flawed part that causes significant safety issues as it randomly disables both traction control and ABS functionality. RAM simply burdens the consumer with the cost of having to replace the HCU, sometimes multiple times as new units tend to fail again.
The vehicle was purchased new Oct. 2017. On or about 1 Oct 2020 the vehicle had 19,100 miles. The vehicle displayed a constant "ABS Fault" / "Traction Control Fault". This was reported to my local dealer in Panama City, FL. The dealer service dept. worked the current Recalls and the ABS Fault at that time. Service was completed 10/16/2020. The vehicle was still under the basic 36M/36K mile warranty. The dealer reported the replaced part as MOPAR # 68143491AA, brake controller module. The vehicle is not in daily service, so the mileage is low for the age of the vehicle. On or about 1 June 2022, the vehicle had 22,250 miles when the ABS Fault resurfaced. At first it was intermittent, but later the ABS Fault / Traction Control Fault is constantly displayed. The brakes feel and appear to work normal, but I feel they would not work as intended during a hard braking or a skid or on wet pavement. I read dozens of owner blogs, Cummins forums, Ram owners forums, U-Tube, etc. It seems a large number of similar trucks are reported by their owners to have this problem. many owners like me have reported having this problem fixed by the dealer only to have it soon reappear. Many owners that have had this problem repaired also indicated the same part or part number and/or cite the trouble as brake hydraulic controller or a controller module.
