ABS Braking System Failure. Safety is at risk as the manufacturer has advised to park the truck and not operate. The issue has been confirmed by the dealer and confirmed the risk and also advise to park. Yes warning lights are present on the dash for the problem. The components are currently still in the vehicle and new are not available per the dealer and manufacture.
My ABS Light is on and Service Electronic Braking System warning is on as well. I have taken it to a repair shop and they have told me that my ABS Hydraulic Control Unit needs to be replaced. This seems to be a problem with this make and model truck and it is an expensive repair.
Service ABS system and Traction Control light and bell comes on intermittently while driving. Well known and documented problem. Many people have reported this and replaced parts with no solution.
ABS Light and Anti Lock Break System Alarm and Light constantly goes off. The light an alarm started within one month of purchasing and the vehicle is over $40,000.. every shop that we have taken it to said that it-??s something that the manufacture should fix it at some point it-??s not safe because it is your antilock brake system. It needs to be fixed and we shouldn-??t have to pay the outrageous cost of having this fax one we just purchased a vehicle..
I am getting intermittent warning lights on my dash indicating that the abs, traction control and cruise control are turned off due to a message reading -??service electronic brake system-?? on the dash. I took my truck to the dealer and was advised that they weren-??t sure if the HCU module or ABS module is failing. At any rate, neither of the parts is available from mopar. I have found that there are no recalls thru mopar. Also, a class action lawsuit has been filed in California and Texas
My 2017 Ram 2500 has the ABS and HCU issues commonly found on these vehicles. To my Suprise the dealer cannot get the part due to how common this issue is the parts are on backorder. I have videos of the system failing while driving and the codes it is throwing. Due to it's tie to the ABS I do not think the truck is safe to operate. I am still making payments so this is a big deal for me. I can't trade it in for a couple of reasons. One of the main ones being I will have to take less money due to this defect. Yes, it has been reproduced by a local service center and I have video of it malfunctioning on the road. Inspected by a local service center but not a dealership yet. The warning lights come on and it "dings" at me.
Service electronic brake system warning flashes on the dash multiple times while driving. A code reader indicates failure of the hydraulic control unit. Code is c0020.
Failed Component(s): Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module P/N 68347098 Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) P/N 68143491 Since I bought the truck new back in July 2017, I've had the ABS Module & HCU Fail on (3) separate occasions, each time it failed unexpectedly in wet conditions. The failure causes the ABS and traction control systems to not function correctly. The 1st time it failed was approximately 1 year of owning the truck(~Aug 2018), I was towing a 5th wheel camper in the western part of North Carolina in the mountains. I had to hit the brakes coming down a grade due to traffic. The brakes unexpectedly locked up, when the module failed, so I left off and eased back into them. Thankfully, there was no accident. The 2nd (~Sept 2020) and 3rd (~Sept 2022) times the Modules failed I was not towing, but they did fail in wet conditions. After each failure, I took my vehicle to a Ram Dealer for them to diagnose and replace the parts and to document the failures. Prior to the failures there were no warnings.
Bought this truck with 88000 miles in Texas when I got home back to Arkansas the very next week I start having issues with brake occasionally spongy, service abs and traction control lights coming on and off multiple times and cruise control not working. It may work fine then all of a sudden ding and lights come on and shuts your cruise control off I have almost been hit for this issue multiple times.
For the third time I have had a loss of ABS, traction control and cruise control. Almost went off the highway when it was raining and it decided to stop working again. I personally know 3 other ram owners from 2017 and 2018 that this has happened to. Please help this is a major safety issue and ram is not addressing it properly. Ram just replaces the same faulty parts and 2 years later it happens again.
The abs system stops working. The dealership has replaced the abs twice under warranty and now it is doing the same thing the abs light and the traction control light on the dash is on. The vehicle only has 60,000 miles on it and needs it's third abs control module and abs hydraulic pump.
The Service Antilock Braking System warning and Service Traction Control warning illuminate regularly. There are no known problems with the systems but it is unknown if they will work when needed. The lights come on up to one time per second, and sometimes not for days. There are hundreds of people on forums complaining about this, no known fix. Replacing components does not seem to solve the issue. I have video available if needed.
Anti-lock brakes do not work on my 2017 Ram 2500 diesel and haven't for over a year and a half. Light constantly flashes on dash with alarm. I brought it to the dealership, and they said the "Hydraulic Control Unit" is faulty but was told Ram is not even making the part. In Michigan winters, anti-lock brakes are a huge safety issue. My truck is the diesel version weighing in at 7,000 lbs. Trying to stop in the winter is a huge problem. Even if I sell the truck, it's still going to be a problem for whoever buys it. If you Google it, you will find numerous other Ram pickups for 2017 & 2018 with the same problem. I don't understand why brake issues are not a recall.
Truck lost abs, traction control, and cruise control at 34000 miles. On 12/30/19 the truck was repaired. Now at 61000 miles the truck lost its abs, traction control, and cruise control in a winter storm hauling a trailer. The original part has been superseded with a new part both of which are unavailable. This truck is only used to tow a 15000lb camper and a gooseneck equipment trailer. Mopar is unwilling to do anything to rectify this problem which is very unsafe. I was able to locate the part in Nevada but due to Mopars "managed allocation" they would not sell it to someone in Ohio.
Started having abs and traction control issues in early October of 2022. Have had two cases of compleat brake lock up. Took to ram deal for repairs and it was diagnosed as the abs hydraulic unit. When road conditions are icey and slick will have issues with the brakes locking up.
"Service ABS, " "Service Electronic Breaking System, " and "Traction Control" caution lights illuminate on vehicle during driving. Started with intermittent illumination. Took vehicle to dealer and was told that ABS pump failed, but no parts are available to repair. Service advisor said it was ok to drive, that the brakes will function without ABS system. Brake performance is diminished. There is no pumping sensation when I apply brakes hard.
When driving, the Service Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) light would intermittently cut on and off and would disable the ABS system and Traction Control system. This would happen at any speed. I scheduled an appointment at Pearson Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Richmond, Virginia for 11/22/2022. I was told the ABS Control Module was defective and the part had to be ordered. The dealership advised that this equipment has malfunctioned in many 2017 Ram 2500 trucks and that the part was on back order until late January 2023. They also advised me that if I drove the truck when the light was on I would NOT have anti-lock brakes or traction control. I have called multiple times to inquire about the status of my part order to get the safety issue fixed. I was told in January that the part still wasn-??t in and that the timeframe was pushed out to March. I called again today (3/17/2023) and was told the part now was in the process of switching suppliers and that they did not know if or when my part will be available. This is a huge safety issue. My truck has been mostly parked since before Thanksgiving and it-??s now almost April. RAM as a manufacturer is creating a large safety issue for anyone with this same issue. I have not been able to get my truck serviced properly with OEM parts due to their negligence. This is a warranty claim and my contract will expire in 2 months and I am not sure if this will be covered once or if the part ever arrives. Please assist in getting this issue resolved. I do a lot of towing and depend on this truck to be safe for me and other drivers and RAM is preventing this from happening. My truck is still mostly parked and cannot be trusted on long trips. My truck is also due for state inspection in June and this warning light will cause my truck to be rejected and then I will not be able to drive it at all.
