I was parked at a red light then I notice smoke coming from under the hood of my car so I decided to pull over immediately into a half empty parking lot and quickly put my car in park in pop the hood, as soon as I open it flames shot right at me, I quickly shut the hood in told my girlfriend to get out because the car was on fire, I ran to a near by auto body shop in got a fire extinguisher in put the fire out. Mind you this was a week ago and im just now recieving this recall letter. My life was in danger and also my passenger. Iam glad my daughter wasnt in the car when this happen. If I would of got this letter sooner I would of not drove or sent this car to a junk yard in got a new one. This is a very serious situation in this is not the only problem I had with this car it use to cut off on me when I was in traffic for no reason. I got all the censors fixed and kept this car in good condition.

I am not happy with the lack of steps that GM is taking to address the recall on my minor son's car. The recall issued April 2015, but I didn't get a letter until today, December 18, 2015. Their letter states they don't have parts and when I called my dealership service department to ask when they would, they said "at least not for a few months". this recall states that hard braking can cause oil to leak....engine compartment fire. We can't avoid hard braking if trying to avoid a car accident and now we have to worry about the engine catching on fire! this is unacceptable. You need to force GM to fix these cars now, not in "at least a few months".
