When weather is cold transmission will not go into gear. Vehicle wouldn't go forward or backward. Dealership mechanic told consumer that he had to get a brand new transmission. The internal parts for the transaxle had failed and was replaced by the dealer.

Dealer replaced rear discharge hose only to have it leak out agian, which tells me they didn't even check it. When the compessor finally gave out and after an estimate of allmost $900, I had an independent shop tell me the evaporator was leaking. The dealer agreeded they had some bad evaporators and fixed the whole system for $450.

Coincidence"?": my boss just informed me today that his 1996 Chrysler product mini-van with less miles than mine had a similar transmission problem some time ago. I believe the Chrysler product mini-van transmissions are junk and Chrysler knows it, but the transmission defect only causes a true "safety" hazard when it breaks in a situation where continuing speed is necessary (like passing). Obviously, the transmission oil getting dumped on the streets when the transmission case cracks isn't good. But again, why would Chrysler care about a little oil?

Also the master switch in these vehicles is faulty(that is the switch for windshield wipers/turn signal) that causes wipers to come on of their own Accord. I am afraid to speculate on the problems that could arise if the turn signal portion was to malfunction as well.
