The contact owns a 2011 Nissan Rogue. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle lost power and failed to accelerate. The contact heard a whining noise and the RPM gauge displayed a high reading. The contact also noticed a burning odor and the check engine indicator illuminated. The contact did not see any fire or smoke, and the fire department was not contacted. No components were found to have melted. The vehicle was taken to reed Nissan (3776 w colonial dr, orlando, fl 32808), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission failed. The contact did have information regarding the necessary repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
We purchased a 2011 Nissan Rogue at the end of 2010, and it was a good car in the beginning, however, I started to notice small things here and there that weren't that great. But they would come and go. Then one day I opened the left rear door handle, and it broke off!! it looked like a cheap piece of plastic you see at the dollar store. I took it to Nissan and they wanted $550!!! ridiculous! I found a good honest mechanic place and they even reduced the cost since it only took them 15 mins to replace it! only costed me $80! so now and again it has also been losing rpms and having difficulty speeding up. My husband was driving from work and on the freeway, and the rpms stopped at 4000 and froze. I wouldn't go over 60mph! he was scared and pulled over to the side of the road. He checked the oil (it was perfect), the inside and saw nothing. He said he smelt a fire type smell while in the inside of the car, but no fires. He slowly got over and pulled off of the freeway and into a car place to have it looked at. I called Nissan as the technician stated that there was a recall on the nisan Rogue. I called Nissan and they stated that it was the 2010 Rogue. Mine is the 2011 Rogue which was purchased at the end of 2010. So I am suppose to believe that they somehow put a better cvt transmission in my Rogue which is not that far off from the 2010 that has an extended warranty and recall on it?? hardly, I have seen many many other complaints from people about this vehicle and exact year. I've even called about our Rogue a few times when I've heard about recalls, but they've always told me it's only 2010 and my car should be fine. Obviously it's not fine, and the car is crap. Nissan should stand by their products, and they are not. They will continue to lose good customers that are hard working americans who pay their bills.
Vehicle loses power going up a mountain at a 40 degree angle for more than 5 miles. Vehicle stalls loses power and stalls to a conplete stop. When driven on a flat even surface vehicle has a very sluggish and jerking movement that makes the vehicle lose power and decelerates. Vehicle has loss of power when reversing and makes a very loud noise doing so.
My car has 86K miles on it. I was driving on I-95. The speed limit was 75 mph, I was driving 75 mph. Suddenly, the RPM's started going out of control. Then I lost pick up. I managed to drive the car to the nearest exit. I then had to cross over a busy 4 lane state road in order to get to a safe parking place. The car died as I was attempting to cross over the 4 lanes. A wonderful police officer finally pushed my car to safety. He guessed my transmission had failed. He said it happens all of the time in my type of car. He said the CRV transmissions were no good. The transmission had failed. Sheehy Nissan in mechanicsville, va, the closest dealer, said there were no recalls on the transmission and the cost of a new transmission was $4,600. I had to get an auto body shop to install a transmission from a new car that had been in an accident, for $2660, as I could not afford $4,600. This transmission should not have failed at 86K miles. I am enclosing two bills; one from the dealership for diagnostic fees and one from the autobody shop that did the work.

A couple of times while driving the car stop suddenly without any warning and the engine slowly died. This is quite worrying because I am not sure how I would cope on a busy interstate road.
Takata recall was driving and the RPM's went way up and then came back down then the car would not go over 20 mpg no matter how much gas was given. Was driving on a normal road straight not turning.
The car stalls, won't accelerate, and ramps RPM when slowing down. The transmission was replaced by Nissan with an extended warranty at 52K miles, and now needs replacing again. The dealer states the transmission has overheated 91 times on this vehicle and also needs a transcooler added. I notice 141 complaints on this site for the same problem, but no investigation. The '08, '09, '10 models have all had their warranties extended. This is a serious safety hazard on a highway when vehicle will not accelerate. Someone is going to be hit from behind, as the driver has no way to keep a steady acceleration, or slow the RPM unless the car is turned off and restarted. Nissan should replace all transmissions in the Rogue.
Takata recall I would like to inform everyone of our issue on our 2011 Nissan Rogue. While driving on the freeway we lost all power in an instant. This is not safe! we also saw the issue of not being able to accelerate and even when on cruise control it completely falling off due to lack of power.

In addition, when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle jerked forward. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 83,153.
I have a 2011 Nissan Rogue and as I was driving down the interstate with my daughter I lost all power to my transmission and was almost hit from the back by a semi. I have had nothing but issues with my transmission loosing power and being stranded with my 5 year old. Nissan needs to take accountability for this and get this taken care of.
The 2011 Nissan Rogue has a problem that is common with all of them. When going uphill in the vehicle it looses speed and can no longer accelerate. The car will slow down to around 40 mph. It depends usually on the grade of the hill. This is a safety issue as semi trucks can go faster than what the vehicle is going while going uphill. Cars are trying to pass semi trucks and if the semi truck has to slow down going up hill then they get road raged and this is very dangerous. Nissan will not recognize this issue and demand that an investigation be launched for this type of car. I know that many complaints have been submitted on multiple car complaint websites about this specific issue with this exact year and model of car. If it is happening in many of the vehicles then it is something that is built into the car that Nissan should know about and should be help responsible to fix. Another common result in all the vehicles, this issue just happens to occur right after the warranty expires...50,000 miles.
This vehicle is a death trap!! completely lost all power when traveling in a highway. As we were heading uphill, the transmission started making a loud whistling noise and acceleration was gone. I almost got hit by an 18 wheeler as I moved to the lane to the right "slow lane " (trucks). I had to move make my way to that lane and even the slowest semi was traveling a lot faster than my vehicle was. I was in the middle of nowhere on the 15 freeway northbound heading towards las vegas and in order for me to safely exit I had no choice but to risk getting hit and killed by big rigs as I moved to the right and got out at the next exit. Upon exiting I went to park to a gas station and when I hit reverse to park properly, the car didn't move at all!! at the gas station a good samaritan ran a diagnostic and said the error "torque clutch coverter". in other words the transmission. I googled 2011 Nissan Rogue and multiple people have reported the same issue ! where they lose all power while traveling in a highway (uphill most of the time). It is unbelievable that Nissan has not yet recalled this vehicle !! with so many. War death experiences. Coincidentally most issues start at 60K miles once the mfg warranty is up. This is bogus and a total theft by a Nissan to the consumer. They should only sell cars that are safe not death traps like the Nissan Rogue. They've previously recalled vehicles for transmission issues from like 2004-2010 and claim the issue was fixed in all 2011 models but that was not the case. Too many people are in danger while driving this car and endangering the lives of others sharing the road with these faulty vehicles.
While driving down the highway at highway speeds 75mph all of a sudden my vehicle would not go any faster than 40 mph, accelerator to the floor. This happened to me on a few different occasions, however no warning lights ever came on. If I pulled over and shut the car off it seemed to perform "normal" again. And this only happened to me when I was on the highway driving a long distance. Upon the return from my last "long" trip a light did come on. I tool it to my dealer immediately. The diagnosis in a valve body, which I understand is inside the transmission. The factory warranty has run out (by 6,000 miles) at this point and the dealer is saying that they wont replace the valve body without putting an "external coolant" on at the same time, because that is what Nissan is saying needs to be done to prevent this from happening again. My 3rd party warranty company will only cover the cost of the valve body replacement, because they feel it is not their responsibility to pay for something that Nissan should be going good for. Nissan wants to charge me $1000 for that external coolant!!!! after doing my research, this is an on going problem and up until model year 2010 Nissan was going good for the issue. Anything beyond 2010 they will not. After contacting Nissan to request assistance for this, they informed me that my request was denied and that this is where they stand. My bigger issue is that how can a company as reputable as Nissan not go good for a manufacturing mistake on their part!" how is it my problem that they didn't out this coolant on in the first place, and how is it not a safety recall when you are driving on the highway at 70+ mph and then suddenly cant go any faster than 40!!? is it because nobody has been killed yet!" if you do your research you will clearly see that this is an on going issue with this vehicle as well as others manufactured by Nissan.
When the outside temperature is above 90 the transmission fluid gets hot and the car will stop moving forward as the transmission slips. It also rolled backward down my steep driveway as I was trying to drive forward.
I have a 2011 Nissan Rogue and within the past 2 months, I have been experiencing loss of acceleration on a minimal uphill slope. Both times, I was on the expressway driving about 70-75 and my speed immediately decreases to 60 and below. When I pressed the gas pedal to accelerate, nothing happened. My rpms were in the red zone- which has never happened before- and I almost got rear ended by a semi the 2nd time it happened. I immediately pulled off the road and took my car to the nearest mechanic. The diagnosis was a transmission code but because my car has a cvt transmission, he recommended taking it to a Nissan dealership as there has been many reported issues with cvt models, so much so that the warranty got extended. Upon further research, the extended warranty only covers 2003-2010 models. When I called Nissan, they of course told me I was outside of warranty as its only 5 years or 60K miles and outside of the extended warranty. They quoted me at $3600+ tax for a new transmission as they said it was the torque converter that is the issue. There are multiple forums online with story after story of the same issue being experienced by many Nissan drivers yet Nissan fails to take responsibility and address the fact that models after 2010 are experiencing the identical issues covered in the extended warranty. This is not an isolated incident. Nissan is knowingly placing faulty transmission in their vehicles then refusing to cover the service costs due to "expired warranties". furthermore, lets address the fact that this is a severe safety hazard for drivers. Imagine driving and all of a sudden losing acceleration- will it take multiple accidents and god forbid, deaths, for Nissan and their executives to own up to their mistake? Nissan should learn from Toyota's faulty air bag scandal and rectify the issue immediately to prevent bodily injury to unsuspecting drivers.
The car makes a whining noise (sounds like a wind up toy) and have experienced loss of power. I was on a road trip in July of 2016, had driven a couple of hours, driving on the highway (75 mph) and suddenly lost power/could not accelerate - dropped down to 20mph with the gas pedal pushed all the way down to the floor. Later that same trip, after pulling off to get gas, the car would not go at all while at a red stop light that had turned green-with the gas pedal pushed all the way to the floor again. Have since lost power while on the highway dropping speed from approximately 70mph to 25-30 with gas pedal pushed all the way to the floor.
Car will stop accelerating after driving for 45-60 minutes. Loud whining noises constantly. Nissan has replaced the alternator and the serpentine belt and it still happens. I have taken the car back more than 8 times and they will not fix it!! please help! I've almost been hit more than 5 times with my two children in the car because of these issues.

The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.
Transmission suddenly and without warning has close to 100% loss of power. Three times this happened when stopped and attempting a left turn with on coming traffic, narrowly avoiding a bad accident. Even with accelerator pedal to the floor car would barely move. Car is very dangerous and is at a repair facility waiting for a new transmission.
