I had to replace my transmission and radiator in a vehicle that had only 53,452 miles on it. That is ridiculous...Nissan admits their vehicles have this problem, but because my vehicle was 5 months over the limit I had to pay $2500, because i did not catch the problem in time. I just do not understand how Nissan can get away with only taking partial responsibility for a problem that they know they have with their vehicle. I spent a lot of money for that vehicle and now I was forced to spend more. Way to go Nissan.

Signs of this problem include, heavy vibration while shifting, and accelerating, abrupt stalling, shuddering noises and car doesn’t warm up when sitting.

The car not warming up while sitting was one of my complaints almost a year ago to Nissan, (when i had it in for servicing) and no one told me about possible radiator leakage into the transmission, and it would have been covered free under warranty back then.

I also do all of the factory recommendations as per maintenance schedule on my vehicle. I have NISSAN do regular oil changes and I do all the recommendations that NISSAN recommends when they check over my vehicle with their multi-point inspection.

Therefore NISSAN you failed as a company as a whole, because if I do all that you recommend, and the vehicle needs a new transmission at 53,452 miles that's pretty bad.

Problem started with shudder during down shift from overdrive. Checked online and discovered multiple failures associated with transmission. The radiator fluid leaked into the transmission and ruined the transmission. I understand that this is a known problem by Nissan and they never notified us. If we had been told about the problem before the radiator leak we would have fixed it and would never have had to replace the transmission. We contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs and they refused to help pay for this so we were stuck with paying over $5000 for a new transmission.

As many others, I had the problem with the radiator and transmission leak. Called Nissan and they said that it was no covered since my car was over 100K. I told them that my car was only 8 yrs old but they didn't care. No help from NISSAN in any way. I got it fixed since I cannot afford a new car now, but definitively, as soon as I get another car, it won't be a NISSAN for sure. I think that they were supposed to be a little more responsible and do a recall and replace the radiator (that was the problem) or at least recommend the owners to have it fix, instead of saying, "some vehicles could have this issue". Anyways, I will strongly suggest to open another class action for a recall or to pay those that already had them fix.

I bought a Nissan Frontier for my son's first car as a graduation gift from high school in June of 2012 with about 95,000 miles on it. We started having problems with the truck running hot and cutting off until it cools, in May of 2015. We had to get the truck towed to the dealership, because it would no longer start. The Service technician said that the problem was the computer system, which was listed as: Holder - Fusible link, Engine Control Module, Controller Assy - BCM, Controller Assy - IPDM, Cover - Fusible link holder, this whole process cost us $1508.59. This process was needed in-order to get the truck to start. We spoke with the service technician again to hear the cause of the malfunction, and was told that we had to get a radiator and a transmission which would cost us approximately $4000+. The crack in the radiator caused the computer system to stop working and ruined the transmission. Because we can not afford to pay for the truck repairs, we are forced to pay a car note with a balance left of about $6,800 on a vehicle with 148,100 miles, a nice body, but does not work.

I bought a used 2007 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab at Hyundai of Roseville, CA a year and half ago on Jan 2014 and they never disclose to me that this car was known for coolant leaking into the transmission and eventually destroying it.

After buying this, I only drove it for about 8,000 miles and this problem hits me June 2015. I bought it for $12,500 and still owe $8,000. The costs to repair this according to Nissan would costs me $7,500. I bought an extended warranty for $1,200, but it would not be covered because this is a "known pre-existing problem or defect by the manufacturer."

So, this used Frontier would costs me over $20,000 which is about what the new ones are going for. This is terrible and I need some kind of justice. Either Nissan, the Hyundai dealership that I bought this from and or the extended warranty company need to pay for this. Nissan should pay because this was a known manufacturer defect. Hyundai dealership that I bought it from should also pay because they didn't disclose of this known defect. The extended warranty company called Buy Direct Auto Warranty should had not offer me a warranty knowing that can't pay for this kind of repair. They should either pay for the repair or give me a full refund. I need justice!!!

Like that majority of other 2007 Frontier owners, anti-freeze leaked into my transmission from a faulty connection and is currently ruining my transmission. Nissan knew the problem and is not willing to accommodate since my mileage is considered high, bullshit high. I look at it as just getting broken in. Covered up to 100,000, no notice from Nissan that this was a known problem and to have it checked. I was just over extended warranty so no coverage to help cover cost. If this is a known problem, which it is, lawsuit settled and limited to 100,000, they should have notified owners so they were aware and could have the radiator replaced before it mixed with transmission causing extended cost.

Pitiful, since I purchased the truck from an Infiniti dealership in Nov. 2014 with 88,000 miles. Since they are part of Nissan, the dealership must have known of the problem since it occurs in the Infiniti vehicles that have the same trans and radiator.

Pitiful, the service manager told me personally that the fluids were all the correct color and it passed the vehicle inspection pre-sale.

And even the salesman stated since this is a "luxury" dealership, management doesn't allow the employees to lie to sell a used car. Ha ! Ha!

Frontier 2D Extended Cab V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 79,000 miles

2012 class action lawsuit gives extended warranty for this problem, however, if you have more than 80,000 miles on the vehicle you have to pay the co-pay of $2500 to repair. My son drove this to Florida on spring break and had problems driving it home to Virginia. BINGO, the odometer went over 80,000 miles so it appears we are responsible for $2500 repair. Not sure what our next step is.

If you are contemplating purchasing this truck, RUN, don't walk away from the seller.

Update from Apr 28, 2015: We paid $2500 to have the transmission replaced. I feel that because the trouble started in the late 79,000 mile range that they should have paid for the whole thing. My son knew there was a problem when he was at that mileage but did not have $$ to go to a dealership in Florida, 900 miles from home, so he schlepped home on Interstate 95 in a barely running Nissan Frontier. He had witnesses in his vehicle who also drove it but that was not good enough for Nissan. I got lots of lip service from their Customer Affairs rep that they'd "try to do what they could" and talk to the "Regional Supervisor". They are trained to say these things and be as sweet as possible. So Nissan saved themselves some money but no member of this family will buy another Nissan.

I am FURIOUS! My husband and I paid hard earned money to a local dealership for our 2007 Nissan Frontier. We purchased an extended warranty. For what? Nothing. We have just driven past the 100,000 mile limit for the first class action suit (which expired 2 years ago!). I have a feeling that the original owner of the truck knew that the truck he was trading in was nearing the end of the road.

Can someone tell us how to participate in the second class action suit against Nissan, please? Selling a vehicle with a known manufacturers defect is wrong. Our 2007 Nissan Frontier with greater than 100,00 miles has the radiator crack/leak that has contaminated the transmission. Its the same problem thousands of Nissan owners have experienced. We want a second class action suit against Nissan.

The company knowingly sold vehicles with radiators with a manufacturers defect. Just Google all of the blogs and lists and petitions of everyone who is mad. We have a voice, people. Use your voice to join ours. Go fill out a complaint here, too, at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration: https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/index.xhtml. This is the correct link for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for vehicle complaints. I urge each of you to fill this out to report your unsafe Nissan.

My husband and I work hard to be able to pay for a vehicle. The vehicle we purchased was manufactured with unsafe parts that have failed. When we paid the purchase price of the vehicle, we knew that there would be costs for normal wear and tear. But we never signed on to have to pay for a major overhaul. Having to repair a major component of a vehicle when the company knew that the parts they used in their vehicles were substandard is unacceptable. You sold me shoddy equipment, Nissan. I want my money back.

I bought this truck used and not knowing about any recalls etc. Over a period of time, the truck would just stop working. I thought it was the battery, etc. Until it finally stopped working. I had it towed to certified mechanics who charge $190.00 per labor hour. Problem: defect in the radiator on these trucks, causes water to go into transmission, thereby ruining transmission, and causes and electrical short in the truck!

It's going to cost me about $4,000.00 to fix the problem.

Nissan said they won't pay if the vehicle is over 100,000! What? I do not care how many miles a vehicle has got, if it is a defect, it is the responsibility of the manufacturer. If I can prove, this is what happened to my vehicle, than NISSAN should take responsibility! I can't even trade in the truck until I fix it! It's worth nothing!

Radiator coolant destroyed the transmission. As a part of a "new" extended warranty I had to pay $3500 to replace my transmission. They said they "repaired" my defective radiator and one year later the same "repaired" defective radiator is mixing radiator coolant with my new transmission. SAME PROBLEM. Now, they are wanting me to pay for a new radiator. So frustrating. I have a letter from Nissan stating that this problem. That Nissan is extending the new vehicle's warranty on the radiator assembly to 130,000 kilometers and they would pay for any damage repairs or replacement and towing resulting from this issue.

I am now told that because Nissan"repaired" my radiator, it is over the time frame for them to replace it. They should have replaced this defective part to begin with! I paid more out of my pocket to replace the transmission that this defective radiator caused then if I would have only had to pay for just a new radiator! And, same problem is reoccurring! Infuriating!

Been having recurring transmission issues with my 2007 Nissan Frontier. Researched internet and and became suspicious my vehicle was experiencing the same ailment hundreds of others had experienced...coolant in transmission. Next step was having local Nissan Dealer confirm my suspicion, when they called and said my co-pay would be $3000. Vehicle remains with Dealer awaiting it's replacement transmission.

Given Nissan's awareness of their blatant design error, I can't understand how this issue hasn't been categorized a strict liability on Nissan's behalf, with full recall protection provided to us unknowing owners. Like many others, I'm disgusted with Nissan's disregard for doing what's right!
