I HAD TO ARGUE TO EVEN GET A RENTAL CAR. I'M STILL PISSED OFF AND OUT 3 GRAND THANKS NISSAN.....

Frontier SE 4.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 94,000 miles

My 2007 Nissan Frontier Started Shuddering around 45 MPH like it did not know what whether to go into over-drive or not. It finally threw a service engine code which was P0717 Turbine /Input shaft speed sensor circuit no signal. I had been look on the web and found that a lot of Nissan owners of this vehicle had similar problems. I change my radiator out before the problem got worst but I was too late.

Now I have got to pay over $3000.00 to get the transmission rebuilt. Its a shame that Nissan knew that they had a problem with these cooler and did not let consumers know about it. Its a hell a lot cheaper to replace a radiator than a transmission. Well you can bet I will never owner another Nissan and neither will I let any of my children buy one. I will definitely warn my friends about purchasing a Nissan also.

NISSAN PROBLEM, BUT NISSAN WON'T RECALL. WHY? GUESS IT WON'T SHOW UP ON CARFAX THAT WAY. I'M THIRD OWNER. 2 PREVIOUS OWNERS DID NOT BOTHER TO FIX THIS WHEN UNDER THE "EXTENDED WARRANTY" THAT WAS THE RESULT OF CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. AND, OF COURSE, NEITHER OWNER LET THE NEXT KNOW OF THE PROBLEM.

WHAT A CLUSTER F*#* THIS HAS BEEN. $3800 FOR NEW TRANSMISSION AND NEW RADIATOR AND ONE MONTH LATER THE PROBLEM RETURNS.

Frontier ES V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

I just bought this Nissan last June , a few days later it felt like the transmission was slipping. I took it back to dealers where I bought, they said I had to take it back to Chevy where truck was at first....it was only in the first lot a few days, so I took it to Chevy place, complained about transmission running rough...they kept the truck for a week, said nothing was wrong with the transmission, or anything else, so I didn't worry about it...now my extended warranty has run out and they won't make any exceptions just said they couldn't do anything. I thought vehicles were suppose to be checked out before sold. Was never told about recall, I am just screwed cause I am a broke poor so glad grandma. What can I do, I have no money to fix... I'm just so upset, I need help, it's not right.

I BOUGHT MY 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER IN AUG2014 FROM GASTONIA NISSAN. iT HAD 53500 MILES ON IT FROM A ONE OWNER. THE DAY AFTER I BOUGHT IT THE TRANSMISSION STARTED VIBRATING BADLY. IT WOULD VIBRATE WHEN I REACHED 35-40MPH. THIS HAS GONE ON FOR 16 MONTHS TO PRESENT DAY. i TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC FOR A TUNE UP AND HE WAS THE ONE WHO TOLD ME ABOUT THE RADIATOR /TRANSMISSION PROBLEM FOR 2005-2007 FRONTIERS, PATHFINDERS AND XTERRAS. ON DEC 9, 2015 I WENT TO THE NISSAN DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM AND WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MGR THAT IF THE TRANSMISSION WAS ALREADY VIBRATING THE DAMAGE WAS ALREADY HAPPENING. MY TRUCK ONLY HAS 62000 MILES ON IT NOW. THE SERVICE DEPT SAID THE WOULD REPLACE THE RADIATOR AND INSTALL A REBUILT TRANSMISSON AND I WOULD HAVE PAY $2500. iI WAS NOT TOLD OF THIS PROBLEM WHEN I BOUGHT MY 5TH NISSAN FROM THESE GUYS. . iTS A GOOD THING I HAVE AAA SO WHEN i'M OUT LOOKING FOR A CHEVY OR TOYOTA AND THE TRANSMISSON DIES ON ME AT LEAST I CAN GET A RIDE WITH THE AAA DRIVER AS I TOW IN MY TRADE. SO MUCH FOR BEING A VALUED CUSTOMER THESE DAYS. SOMETIMES A HANDSHAKE IS AS GOOD AS THE MONEY IN THE PALM OF THAT HAND i GUESS. I MISS MY 1998 SILVERADO OLE BLUE HAHAHAHAH

This issue is currently only noticeable when accelerating from a stop or low speed, and when switching to reverse. When accelerating slowly the problem is usually unnoticeable. It is a problem when trying to pull out into traffic though as there is hesitation and sometimes a jerk before the truck begins speeding up. The dealer has priced the repair around $6,000. New transmission, radiator, hoses, chemical flush, etc. Currently looking for pricing from other repair shops.

Got this truck from Nissan 6 yrs ago with a 100K miles extended warranty ....... I AM NOW AT 120k MILES AND my radiator fluid leak into the transmission and will cost around $6K for new tranny ..... Not sure what to do, I do not have $6k and this is my daily vehicle for work and take my kids to school and practice.

Nissan need to do some thing please

Update from Oct 16, 2015: BS lawsuit outcome I just saw is worthless as the vehicles start really acting up after the mileage and or age are past their extended warranty having to pay out of pocket. THIS IS JUST WRONG

Been a very loyal customer with NISSAN for over 20yrs, this is my 3rd Frontier and also just bough a new 2015 Versa for my daughter ...... Never again buying a NISSAN if they are not taking care of this problem.

Granted I have had this truck 4yrs. It is my 2nd house, I do handy man type work and pool service. It is unique due to custom rack with horse head cutouts and window guard. But now...." POW "... slap in the face!!!!!!!????? It just slowed down, no power as if the fuel was choked out, as so my confidence, trust in our now retired salesman who was also a friend who never even mentioned this extreme situation with Nissan. It just happened yesterday, I had work to go to in a much needed time because work has been slow. I do not have or cannot get at this point to even fix (which obviously it would happen again). Instead I am looking to Ford or Toyota as soon as I figure out how to finish paying the final $8000 I still owe for the Frontier, and the work I am going to lose this next week. I feel I have seriously been BETRAYED BY MY BEST FRIEND..S PLURAL

Just purchased this vehicle on 8-1-2015, put 1700 miles on it. Transmission started slipping while turning left with oncoming traffic, almost got t boned. Took it to Nissan service. Which they inspected and said the transmission cooler in the radiator leaked coolant into the transmission. Cost for repairs to exceed $6200 for new radiator and transmission. Nissan has known about this, I've read read the articles. They need to warranty no matter how many miles are on the vehicle.

Frontier SE 4.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 128,000 miles

I absolutely LOVE my red crew cab 2007 Nissan Frontier! I've always owned and driven Ford trucks, and in fact traded my 1999 F-150 in on the 07 Frontier. I wanted a mid sized truck, and to me the 4.0 Frontier blew everything else away with regards to appearance, power, everything. I raved about mine to all who would listen, and thoroughly enjoyed driving it each and every day until, of course, the day the DEFECT (engine coolant leaking into transmission) bit me.

Actually, I had problems on three or four occasions during the month prior to the catastrophic failure. On three of those occasions I was suddenly left with no drive power on 4 lane highways. Yeah, the problem nearly caused an accident 3 times. Finally, in January of 2014, again on a 4 lane highway, I found myself with no connection between the engine (which has always and still runs great) and transmission (which I imagine would also still be functioning properly had the cooling system been designed properly.) Basically, the truck suddenly behaved as though it was in neutral. I regret to say that I haven't driven it since.

At the time, I was completely unaware of the ongoing problem with frontiers or that there was a design defect. My truck has approximately 128,000 miles (batteries dead) as it did on the day the transmission imploded. It's an absolute shame considering that the truck is a beautiful red and even today looks as though it just rolled off the show room floor. I really miss it, but am currently unable to have it repaired properly. I was well on my way to buying Nissan's for years to come, but due to Nissan's handling of this problem of their creation, my Frontier, which again I truly love, will be my only Nissan mistake.

I honestly cannot understand Nissan's approach to solving this problem. They have absolutely ruined their name in the American truck market, and have lost countless potential truck and car buyers. You can't treat folks this way and not expect it to bite you in the end. Anyway, not sure what to do with the Frontier, but I'm open to suggestions. Finally, my apologies to Ford for ever leaving them, and a promise to not make the same mistake twice.

If you catch it in time as in way before you notice a problem the fix for the Nissan Transmission/Radiator is really easy and low cost. 1st, find a length of transmission hose that fits the barbs at the bottom of the transmission and long enough to connect the 2 barbs together. Use hose and 2 new clamps and connect the 2 lower trans/radiator together, removing the hoses in place from the factory. 2nd, connect the loose hose (or use new) to the transmission cooler. What your doing is just using the factory transmission cooler only leaving the radiator out of the loop. 3rd, what I did was have the transmission flushed and refilled with a high quality 100% synthetic ATF. I used Amsoil , but I am sure there are other brands available as well. I hope this helps.

Frontier SE 4.5L V6

This is my second go round with this same issue. The first round cost me over $5,000 and an incredible amount of time and aggravation. The radiator was replaced and I was told that new lines were run (transmission cooler line run separate from the engine block coolant) which would prevent the engine coolant from mixing with the transmission fluid ever again. Four years later and only 40k miles, the identical same thing happened again! The Nissan dealer calmly informed me that they'll fix it for $7,000! Are you friggin' kidding me? So what, I can pay another seven grand in four years! Don't think so. Fooled me once... What kind of engineering enables engine coolant to get mixed in with the transmission? Makes no sense. They're completely separate systems! Un-be-friggin-leavable.

Frontier ES 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

My 2007 Nissan Frontier heater would not warm up when idling. I took it to the dealership in December 2014 and they flushed the lines. Six months later the transmission began to slip. I took it back to the dealer and they informed me that due to a manufacturer's defect engine coolant leaked into the transmission and destroyed it! I would need a new transmission and radiator.

Because the vehicle was now 8 years old, the warranty will only cover part of the cost and I am responsible for $2,500. After researching this problem, I found that one of the warning signs was a heater that would not warm up while idling. The vehicle could have been fixed in December of 2014 and covered fully by warranty, however, the dealer did not warn me! Now, Nissan says there is nothing they can do!

I'm frustrated to say the least and have purchased my last Nissan!

Frontier SE 4.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 76,000 miles

Transmission started acting up on my 2007 Nissan Frontier (76,000 miles) so I called South Colorado Springs Nissan Service Department ( bought the truck there) and asked if there were any issues known to exist to what they replied " Not that we know of" which was total crap. Called another dealer who said that the vehicle just passed the 8 year mark so I would have to pay $2,500 for a new radiator and transmission. This is ridiculous as it was a "defect" that its known. Never received anything from the dealer. I have two Nissan vehicles and have owned a Nissan since 1992. No more....BS lawsuit outcome I just saw is worthless as the vehicles start really acting up after the mileage and or age are past their extended warranty having to pay out of pocket.
