I am very upset about this problem. Nissan Altima 2015 is putting me at risk. I have to drive at night. If I don't turn the bright lights on I can't see. I can get a ticket. I can't afford to pay $1250.00 to replace these head lights. Nissan knows that this is an issue with thier Nissan Altimas. I am having to pay people to drive me at night and on vacations - it is not right. I just paid this car off this month and they are talking about submitting a good will request.

It was not a good will for me to pay them $30,000 for a car that I can not drive at night. I HAVE NEVER BEEN LATE ON A PAYMENT AND HAVE PAID IT OFF. I have to work at night and I want my car fixed. I have asked other people that has a Nissan and they are experiencing the same problems. Nissan makes billions of dollars and should be responsible for an issue that is not the fault of their customers. I have reported the issues with the lights and was charged for them and still I can't see. I need to know of any attorneys who can help me with this matter. I have children and bills to pay I have to GO TO WORK!!!!!! WITHOUT PUTTING MY LIFE AT DANGER. I WANT THEM TO TAKE CARE OF THIS ISSUE IMMEDIATELY!!!!

I'm the sole owner of a 2015 Nissan Altima that I feel as if I have done a pretty good job taking care of it. The throttle positioning sensor is going bad for the second time and the headlights are extremely dim and have been for quote some time now. Changed the low beam headlights and it looks as if I never changed them. This is really frustrating knowing thay my headlight problem isn't fixed and I cannot return the headlights that I bought because the have been opened.

I will never buy a Nissan again. The car was 1yr old when I purchased it. Before my first oil change, I notice engine problems. After a few more months, had to replace the Transmission. Now the lights are really dim. I drive with my high beams on most of the time. My power mirrors stopped working. I think the transmission is going out again.. Every time I mention Nissan to someone the first thing they say is Transmission problems. Wish I knew this before I bought this car. My old 1997 Toyota Camry was MUCH better. I can't wait to get rid of this car!!!!

The absurdly dim headlights are caused by the use of cheap material inside the headlight projector bowl for the low beams. The heat from the low beam bulbs causes the film to become damaged and useless for its purpose of reflecting the beam into the projector lens as the headlight setup was originally designed to. On top of the reflective film becoming damaged I also noticed shortly after paying$618.00 for a professional shop to install the brightest HID bulbs and ballasts that the actual inside of the projector lens became completely hazy with a film type of residue that I would bet was caused by the slightly higher temp of the new HID bulb causing the cheap reflective film to literally melt into an almost gaseous form and coat everything inside the bowl housing.

Puerto Rico has lots of small towns with poor lighting. You have to drive with high beams on and other cars can't see. I get the finger all the time, but when I bought the car I was not aware of the problem. I hate going out at night, scared of having an accident, and the dealer told me take it up with nissan. Please help me with problem.

The headlights are so dim people in the car with me ask me if my headlights are on. One person demanded I show him and got out to look at the headlights to see for himself. To be able to drive at night now I have to use my brights to drive on a street that does not have street lamps. Driving with my brights on has a blinding effect on the oncoming traffic. As result, I limit the use of the car to daytime only now unless I cannot wait until the following morning. I have replaced the headlamps with ones from Advanced Auto Parts and I was told they were 50% brighter but I observed no change at all! I ordered LED's on the Internet and those also did not provide any improvement. After consulting 4 different experienced automotive technicians they could not give me an answer so I went online and saw there are other Altima owners having the same problem. As a last resort, I went to the Nissan Dealership in St Petersburg for an evaluation of the problem. The reported the bulbs were functioning properly, the aiming of the headlights was satisfactory but the surrounding headlight assembly had deteriorated to the point they were not reflecting the headlights properly. Nissan advised me to correct this deficiency was to replace both headlamp assemblies at a cost of $1051 which includes parts and labor. They checked cost and availability of aftermarket parts and that was $940.00 which I reject as a suitable replacement. This car is only 5 years old!! I would expect this to happen to a car that was maybe 30 years old but not 5 years old.

I've made a complaint with Nissan and NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). Nissan says that since I don't have an extended warranty they cannot repair the problem. They suggested taking the vehicle to a dealership to get a written diagnosis and they may be able to reimburse me. I called a few dealerships and they want $250-$450 just to bring it in and diagnosis the problem. Meanwhile, Nissan called me back and said, have you had the dealership diagnosis it? I told them no and they said, they cannot offer reimbursement because of the age of the vehicle and the mileage and there is no longer a warranty. I explained that I am in an unsafe vehicle and I fear for the safety of myself and passengers in my vehicle as well as those I drive next to everyday.

Headlights were never as bright as other vehicles and gradually dimmed. We have replaced a couple times with quality bulbs, but they dim again. It is dangerous. I have not yet had an accident, but have to drive extra slow and cautious. At times I have wondered if my eyesight was failing and then have been reassured by others it is the headlights. Interested in any helpful hints. I do love my car, just not driving at night because of headlights - wet and dark are the worse.

(I did hit a deer with the car the night I brought it home - my husband now suspects that even that day the lights were not as bright as the should have been)

As others described, I can't see at night. I had a small accident where I ended on top of a median while I was going to turn into a bank. These lights are terrible and Nissan is not offering any solution to our problems.

I began to have trouble with the low beam vision on my vehicle last year when I moved to a town that requires driving about an hour in very dark conditions at night (no street lights etc). A driver in front of my mentioned, after we parked and chatted, that my lights were very dim and the one on the passenger side was almost too dim to see.

When I went to the Nissan dealer where I purchased the vehicle for a recent maintenance, oil change, tire rotation, etc., I asked them to check the dim lights and told them the problem I was having at night. The service manager came back when maintenance was complete and said that he had 4 individuals "look" at the lights and there was nothing wrong with them.

I have contacted an independent body shop and gotten an estimate to replace the unit (he said it comes as a unit, cannot just replace low beam bulbs) and quoted a $600 install fee. He suggested that he could possibly polish the bulb, but I doubt that is going to work and they get sued they'll probably pay attention then and do a recall.

If Nissan is as reputable as they claim, they should be willing to stand behind their vehicle and fix this very serious problem.

headlights are too dim

While driving at night it really seems as if the lights are not even on! When I got home I cleaned the lights and driving lights with a lint free rag as Road Salt etc. might be the cause for low visibility. I noticed that the heat from the projector lenses or head lamp itself had BURNED the inside of the headlight. You can see the attached image on my posting.

This would be a major contributing factor to poor lighting. My wife has the identical car and trim etc. but she does not have the issue. I feel mainly because she has 20k miles and I'm quickly approaching 35k and do a lot more nighttime driving. I would like new headlight assemblies but I doubt that would happen.

The low beam headlights are entirely inadequate to provide sufficient lighting intensity and failed to safely illuminate the street ahead of you. This creates a very dangerous situation when driving at night, while raining, or under any low visibility conditions since you are not able to see objects. This issue was not present when I purchased the vehicle new but developed around 50,000 miles. Unfortunately, I have to constantly drive with the high beams at night leaving other drivers with a partial blindness. Sometimes, when I switch to low for an oncoming vehicle, I suddenly find myself driving completely without sufficient light. I hope that Nissan and NHTSA do something to correct the problem at no cost to the consumer. We shouldn't have to pay for a correction when we did nothing to cause it and it shouldn't be "normal wear" on a vehicle.
