Contacted Mercedes because Dealer said it was a common problem. Airbag light was on. I was told that airbags could unsafely deploy as driving the vehicle and the issue was connected to the steering column. After looking online, I found that there are several drivers that could be in unsafe conditions while driving the car who reported the same thing. I contacted Mercedes to advise and Mercedes was dismissive. My concern is for innocent people that could be in danger because of Mercedes defects or possible negligence in addressing the safety issue that could lead to the loss of life.

I own a luxury, very expensive model. Per the recall, the faulty air bag is dangerous. It stated that: ' under certain circumstances during a crash that necessitates frontal airbag deployment, the defect in your passenger-side frontal airbag inflator may cause the inflator to explode. A passenger-side inflator explosion during deployment could result in metal fragments striking the front passenger or other occupants, possibly causing serious injury or death.' I do not feel safe driving my car. This is a major problem and it is their obligation to correct a defect that is a major safety issue. Safety risk: According to takata, in the event of an inflator explosion, metal fragments could pass through the air bag cushion material, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants. Remedy: An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will replace the passenger-side airbag. Please advise how I can resolve this issue and have the necessary repair completed now. I cannot wai any longer, other wise, I will seek legal damages. I would prefer a faster way to resolve this rather than going to court.
