Takata recall--my 2011 Mercedes Benz C300 had recalls for driver and also passenger airbags on 2/11/16 and 5/23/16 respectively. Currently there are no replacement airbags available. Thank goodness, my vehicle has not been involved in an accident that deployed the airbags. But, I don't feel safe in the vehicle as the deployment of the airbags could cause death or serious injury for the driver and/ or the passenger. As my car is now 6 1/2 yrs of age, I decided to trade it in on a new vehicle. I was given very bad news that because there was no fix for the airbags, I would get a very low offer for my trade in. In fact, the dealership really didn't want my car as a trade at all!!

Takata recall incomplete.NHTSA recall number: Opens new window takes away from VIN lookup section> 16V081 recall date: February 11, 2016 manufacturer recall number: 2016020003 summary: Certain Mercedes-Benz vehicles and one fca model are equipped with driver-side front airbags provided by the supplier tk holdings Inc. ("takata"). on January 25, 2016 takata filed a defect information report with NHTSA announcing a potential defect in some of the subject inflators. Based upon takata's information to date, takata is aware of four test ruptures in ballistic tests of non-desiccated psdi-5 inflators. Takata is not aware of any field incidents in which a psdi-5 inflator has ruptured, either desiccated or non-desiccated. Takata is taking this action in an abundance of caution, to address all of the subject non-desiccated psdi-5 air bag inflators, due to the similarities of design and manufacturing characteristics for this type of inflator used in the U.S. market. Dag is not aware of any field incidents with the subject takata psdi-5 inflators. However, based on the information above and in an abundance of caution, dag will conduct a voluntary recall of the vehicles equipped with subject takata psdi-5 inflators in the United States as identified by takata in the defect information report. Safety risk: According to takata, in the event of an inflatorrupture, metal fragments could pass through the air bag cushion material, which may resultin injury or death to vehicle occupants. Remedy: Once parts are available customers will be sent a letter asking them to go to an authorized Mercedes Benz dealer who will replace the driver side front airbag of the potentially affected vehicles. Recall campaign 2016020003 owners may contact Mercedes-Benz at 1-877-496-3691. Recall status: Recall incomplete. Remedy not yet available

"takata recall" it has been one year since I received a letter about the recall. I live in zone a. I have called Mercedes Benz several times about updates and possible timeline for replacement of the defective drivers and passenger side airbags. Each time I am told there is no solution and they are waiting for parts along with the reference to there have been no reported situations of premature deployment of the bags in a Mercedes Benz. When asked about frontal collisions there was no response. Is there any positive information about this recall?
