I was driving down a country road, and suddenly the engine stopped working, all systems shut off, and dash started flashing. Luckily, there was no one around me, and I was able to coast to a stop. However, it would have been terrible if this had happened on a busy road. Nothing worked including brakes. Had the car towed to the dealership, since we were just over 100K miles they would do nothing, and said the only thing we could do was put a new engine in for 20K. We-??re going to have to sell the car for a loss of 5K, as we can not justify putting a new engine in an unreliable car.

Lost power on the freeway, flashing check engine light. Dealership said my fuel injectors failed causing my engine to fail. At 133k miles the car needs its second new motor. It is currently at Phil Long Kia in Colorado Springs waiting a voluntary repossession as I cannot see paying 10k for repairs on a vehicle that has such obvious defects
My car cut off on a major highway on 12/13/2023, but luckily i was able to pull off an exit. My car stalled and wouldn't crank. Called someone out who did a diagnostic and said it was for my knock system(P1326).I was able to get it home and black smoke was coming from my tail pipe. I haven't driven the car since then. I went to Kia on 1/15/2024 to get recalls done and also inquire about my check engine light. Kia never did a diagnostic test for the check engine light. They only did recalls and sent me on my way. I called Kia and made another appointment to get a diagnostic test done on 1/20/24 and then i was told that i would need an engine replacement and my warranty doesn't cover it. Then he gives me a printout of codes which states pending and told me that p1326 code didn't show so therefore it's not covered. He tells me that it's a blockage on cylinder 4. I told him when i came to you a few days ago, i asked about my check engine light and i was ignored. Upon pulling out of Kia parking lot, i noticed a large cloud of black smoke that i didn't originally see when i brought it in and it was so cloudy that other cars had to stop because they was unable to see. Luckily i got it back home and parked it cause it's very unsafe for me to drive even tho Kia saying i can still drive it. My car burns a lot of oil even tho i don't really drive cause i work from home but evidently, every time i get oil checked it's always low so i was getting it topped-off every other month and was told by a mechanic that Kia engines burns a lot of oil and the engines no good and now look, i'm needing a new engine and i just purchased this car in 2020 and i see it's been so many services done to it before i purchased itMy car only gets up to 50mph since the engine light came on so prefer not to drive it anymore.
The car engine died while I was driving on the highway. When the car started decelerating there was no place to pull over. Fortunately, I was able to make it to the right lane and exit on a toll ramp before the vehicle completely stopped. Unable to restart the car. Had it towed to the closest dealership. My car has less than 62,000 miles on it and is burning through all oil every 2000 miles. My engine is completely out of oil. I only know this because I checked it...no lights or any warning signs that it is out. I am worried my engine will seize at any given time.
Engine failed while driving on busy highway. No warning lights or indications that there wa san engine or oil issue. Had to be towed 30 miles back home. Mechanic diagnosed with engine failure due to loss of oil. Oil change had been completed two weeks prior. Mileage was around 65,000 but was second owner so when I called Kia, I was told the original warranty did not apply. Had to replace engine.
We bought this vehicle new and have been the only owners. I was about halfway through an ~8 hour drive, on a highway in rural West Virginia, when the Check Engine light came on and the vehicle started making a light clicking noise from near the engine. Moments later, I heard a loud pop and the vehicle lost power (gas power, not electrical) and started gliding. Some smoke and/or steam came from the front of the vehicle. I glided over to the shoulder and several other drivers pulled over. One told me that the car was on fire and I should get out and move away. I and the others were able to see the fire under the vehicle. It appeared to be oil that ignited after engine blew. The fire went out, the other people left, and I took care of getting the vehicle towed to Freedom Kia in Morganton, WV, where it has been ever since.
This car has been consuming oil at a crazy rate I have been to the dealer at least 20 times with them saying I need to do oil consumption tests which I thought was already done but the car is misfiring and all that can be done right now is to drive it until engine seizes my question is how is this ok how does Kia sell a certified car with only 15,000 miles on it (when purchased) tell people well can-??t help you because you are not the original owner
My Kia Sorento uses roughly 2-4 quarts of oil every week or 2. The smell of oil is so strong in the car it-??s almost unbearable. Just this week the the alert about a door being open is going off and the locks are malfunctioning. It locks and unlocks at random and it keeps sayings a door is open when it isn-??t. The cruise control also stopped working.
Consistent excessive oil consumption from about 90k until it died at 127k while on the highway going 65+mph. Oil Light flashed. Check engine light flashed. Made it onto the exit ramp and exited the vehicle very shook up. Vehicle would not start unless using two feet. One to flutter the gas while other on the break to be able to throw it into gear and chug the 2 miles home from the highway. Towed it to the Kia dealership in vestal Ny in June 2023. They had my vehicle for over 2 months before we had a plan. We called Kia with no response. No email followup no snail mail followup. Called again in October to be told my vehicle did not have any compression in 2 cylinders but it couldn-??t pass or fail the test therefore they couldn-??t determine the cause. Because they could not determine the cause my vehicle would not be covered at all. My Sorento had regular oil changes and maintenance done at the dealership as that-??s where I purchased the Sorento new in 2017. After we rolled over 100k when the warranty was up we began shopping around for oil changes due to the dealership being outrageous. My vehicle has been sitting dead while I lay $555 a month on the existing loan. I will never buy a Kia again and will be telling everyone else the same. Thank you.
I just purchased this vehicle on Saturday.And now my engine light is on.It is blinking.I did my research after getting the car and the code p1326 came up at autozone.after that it showed that code with recalls for 2011 to 2017.
My name is [XXX] and live in Topsham, ME. I purchased a 2017 Kia Sorrento from Bill Dodge Auto Group Westbrook a few years ago with a warranty that covers it to 100K miles (I am now at 83.699K). About 9 months ago I noticed that the vehicle started to go through large amounts of oil when I by chance decided to check it. I began to notice that it would go through a quart in about 500 miles of normal around town driving. After extensive effort I was able to make an appointment at Bill Dodge where they did a test and determined this was the case. They did do a cleaning and did improve it slightly but I brought it back to them for a thousand mile check although half of this was a highway trip. They measured and said that it was just under a quart after a little over a thousand miles and stated Kia states that this is normal oil consumption. I retested myself and found that I easily burn over a quart within a thousand miles of driving around town. I contacted the warranty administrator and they stated unless there is a failure of some kind then this is not covered under the warranty. I am sure I have no oil leaks. It is obvious to me that the engine is defective and Kia is not taking ownership as I have read online forums that many people have similar problems including engines blowing, sometimes without the warning lights coming on. Engine seized while driving on the highway. No engine warning light came on bu t vehicle was completely out of oil. Routine oil change had been completed 2-3 weeks prior to this incident.
UNKNOWN It can cause a safety hazard to me as well as other drivers if the oil is gone and I'm not aware of it while driving the car. The car repair shop that provides maintenance to my car stated that my car is burning oil too fast (in 1000 miles or less) and it shouldn't do that. The shop owner stated that I should call to see if there's a recall because this should never happen as often as it's doing. No.
2017 Kia Sorrento with 38k mikes on it. Oil pan began leaking at oil plug after approximately 28k miles. A new oil plug has been installed and still same issue. Dealership will not honor power train warranty saying its normal wear and tear. Have read numerous other people having issue with Kia oil pans being defective.
Due to the engine block and heads being aluminum, the head bolt threads are stripping and pulling out of the block and creating a loose seal around the head gaskets. This does not allow the engine to cool properly resulting in overheating and damage to the engine and the radiator. This has been inspected by a dealer who confirmed this issue and inspected by an independent mechanic who has recommended resurfacing the heads and a fix for the threads of the bolts. There is significant cost to put a temporary fix on an engine that is failing significantly for many other owners as well. Most with the same issue. This is a known issue of the 3.3L V6 engines and Kia is not addressing the fix.
The contact owns a 2017 Kia Sorento. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed and lost motive power. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine was blown. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 144,000. The VIN was unavailable.
My Kia had a code for the crankshaft sensor. I took the car to a mechanic that checked the sensor, crank case and reset the code. A few weeks later, the same code came back on. Took to the same mechanic and said that the code had to be cleared by the dealership. No issues found. A week later, the check engine light came on (blinking) and when I tried to put it into gear, began to misfire. I turned the car off and had it towed to a different mechanic. This mechanic asked me "where did your oil go?". I said, I just had the oil changed about a month or so ago. He said "yeah, I can see that. But your car is low 4 quarts of oil. I had to flush the engine due to metal shavings being in your oil. I changed the crankshaft oil as well. The code will not clear and it is still misfiring. You need a new engine". I notified Kia and there response was "You're the second owner and since the car has 108,000 miles, is out of warranty". This is very frustrating and to think that I could have had my engine seize while driving makes me sick. I have ordered a remanufactured engine and am waiting for it to be shipped and installed. This is just negligent of Kia not to correct this issue.
