Every 500 miles I am adding a quart of oil to my 2014 Kia Sorento. Plus the oil light is not turning on when the dipstick is showing below low on oil. I also brought it to medved Kia dealership in wheat ridge Colorado for an oil consumption test, I brought it in every 500 miles to check the oil consumption. After 3000 miles the oil was down a total 2.5 quarts. The dealership told us they contacted Kia headquarters and said there is nothing they can do until there is a engine failure, but our concern is if someone is unaware of the oil consumption (or if we forget to put oil in our car at 500 miles) issue and their engine seize on the highway this could put them and other vehicles on the highway in a potential dangerous or life threatening situation. Additionally, the user manual states (page 7 | 11) under normal conditions you should change your oil every 7500 miles, the vehicle take 5 quarts, so if we waited for the 7500 miles the engine would seize or explode. Kia has issued an extended warranty for engine defects and fires, but it does not detail the oil consumption issue, I think this should be looked into as many people are having the same issue. My paint on my Kia Sorento has been chipping away. I've had this vehicle for less than 2 years, it started to chip alittle around 8 months ago, and since has gotten so bad across almost all the entire top of the windshield and slowly starting to chip all throughout the rest of my vehicle
Airbag light came on today while driving on the highway (roughly70mph), will not shut off, vehicle not under recall for airbags at this time. Headlights and taillights randomly come on and off, even with brand new bulbs, have changed bulbs almost monthly in last 3 years. Buttons on steering wheel do not work properly - including cruise control not working, volume button starts voice command, etc.
Paint has been chipping on my 2014 Kia Sorento white pearl. I bought this car through aaa auto sales and was already chipping. Now I read online that it's been a big problem. I am unsure of the date that it started but I certainly don't have the money to get my car repainted and advanced auto doesn't carry the touch up paint.

I began noticing paint chips in 2019 on a 5 year old vehicle. These spots have become larger and larger in various locations on the car primarily the hood, a frame, and roof. I have also noticed this same issue with other Kia Sorento's that are also pearl white. There seems to be a defect in the paint. I know that alone may not be a huge issue but what if it contributes to another issue" there are already several serious recalls. If there is a defect in the paint, what happens if it gets too hot or something"
Pearl white paint on my 2014 Kia sorrento is declaminating or rapidly peeling off in several places. Two spots are on the hood and the biggest is on the support between the driver's door and the windshield. Will come off while driving, particularly on the interstate. Not due to rock or wreck. Have had several estimates about re-painting.
The paint has chipped off in a large portion of the hood. It is not a normal paint chipping but rather a large piece/section just came flying off during driving time, approxiamtely 50 miles per hour.
Pear white paint has been progressively bubbling and peeling over the last few months. Areas include the hood and the roof area near the front windshield
My car just shuts off driving down the road.was on interstate 81 when it just cut off lost all controls thank goodness I was in right lane an drift to side this interstate is very busy with tractor trailers. It started back up an made to a exit an it did it again.have sent to garage an fixed a camshaft position sensor hoping that was the problem but it wasn't. still doing it. Very dangerous this can cause a very bad accident I was lucky that I could get out of way of traffic.I just purchased the vehicle.also when this happens the check engine light comes
On March 1, 2020, I went out to get in my car and noticed a 10" swatch of paint missing on the drivers side of my car between the windshield and drivers side window. Aproximately 4 days later, I noticed the same thing on the passenger side.I was very upset as it is only a 2014, I have babied it and love it. To have it look like this is very distressing and I have not had this happen to any other car I have owned.
My vehicle keeps having issues with oil. I get regular oil changes an I have to put oil in it either every 2weeks even after an oil change. I have had an oil compsumption test an have been told that there is nothing wrong with my car. There are no oil leaks at all. I was on the highway in cruise control when it all of sudden came out of cruise control then I noticed my RPM gauge wasn't working also. I then came to a light an when I started to go I noticed my car being sluggish to reach 60mph. I at one time had my pedal to the floor. It also acted like it wanted to stall on me. I made it home an into my driveway where I turned it off an back on which at that point my rmp gauge started working an the car acted normal. I have asked Kia about this problem numerous of times an I get no where. They say well we see that the consumption test came back in the standard range. I have no leaks an I have to put oil in my car on a regular bases. I can be only 4,000 after an oil change an feel it actiing up an then I ck my oil an my dip stick is clean no oil so then I have to add more oil. I am concerned that I will be on the highway an my car will just shut down. My car is always moving when I have these problems. I keep getting the run around about this issue.
Car will not lock doors with lock switch in front doors and with key fob. This started in June of 2016 on and off car has been to concord Kia 2 times now in the last 4 years it would lock on and off now its all the time not working and they say they can't get it to not work, we have read that this it an issue with a lot of models and years with Kia cars, we were told it could be a body control module cost is any were from $800 to over $1000 for repairs
On December 24th, around 9:30 at night, I was driving South on I25 (highway) toward denver at approximately 70 mpg. My family, including my wife, 2 boys and mother-in law were passengers. The temperature was approximately 40 degrees and I was driving straight. With no warning, a large thunderous boom sounded, similar to a gunshot. The sunroof had basically exploded. We did not know what happened as we did not go under a bridge or any other structure that could have dropped debris on the car to create such damage. I pulled over at the next exit to examine the damage and to check on the passengers. My mother in law sustained a minor cut due to the glass. There was no sign of debris or a possible bullet that could have come from a gun shot....the loud noise sounded like a gun shot. The sunroof now had a huge 2 foot diameter hole and shattered glass was located throughout the passenger compartment. I was only 4 miles away from my home, so the attached pictures were taken from my garage the next morning.
Purchased a used 2014 Kia Sorento showing 106K miles. Test drive with the salesman for about 6 miles various types of roads. Very impressed with the car, performed well. Purchased it Saturday afternoon just prior to the used car dealer closing. After paperwork and plates done, drove it toward home. About 4 miles from dealer (interstate highway) saw the temperature guage climbing into the hot area. No other errors or lights came on. Let off on gas to pull over and temp guage came down to normal. Continued with caution thinking this was a faulty guage or sender unit. Limped home slowly. Noticed going up hills and pulling hard temp would climb. Letting off gas temp would drop to normal. Long story short got the car to a very reputable and experienced garage. Engine couldn't be repaired economically. Dealer did offer money back. As much as I didn't want to, wound up having to install another used low milage V6 engine. During the month in the garage I had done much research & digging & talking often with the very experienced mechanic in charge of the job. Coolant was low and all but two of the head bolts were more than finger tight !! how this engine was running was beyond me, it was! during all this research I read of many head gasket problems and leaks had been reported. The thing that was really concerning was the number of engine fires that had no real cause reported afterwards. My concern is if I had continued driving this car hard, could a leaky head gasket cause a fire under the hood" I learned from the mechanic all these head bolts stripped the threads from the block. I also learned there is another 1.5 inches of unused threads inside the block! my suspicion is Kia skimped on the length of all these head bolts to save a buck putting the reliability and safety at the customers risk. Is my safety at risk? where is my recall for this car engine" 12/09/2019 dd.
Power ports keep blowing fuses, rear hatch quit opening, engine surging, speedometer bouncing, temperature gauge sometimes bounces, white cloud of exhaust sometimes, A/C don't blow cold even when charged
The car was running perfectly fine never had an issue with it. It randomly started knocking/ making a loud noise from the engine and shut off as I was D with my two kids. When I tried to start it back up it continually shut off, it would not stay running. It was running at normal temperature when I pulled over and turned the car off then turned the ignition back on then it showed hot on the temperature gauge. This all started in san bernardino California. I did not understand what the problem was, so I started looking up problems with a Kia Sorento and found this form. On Saturday 9/28 - I happen to notice some leaking near the front of my Sorento near the right wheel... I opened the hood and notice a leak all over that side of the car... took the car to mechanic on 9/29 and the mechanic stated oil is mixing into antifreeze... went to 2 mechanics and both directed me to go to dealer as this repair should be covered under warranty since it is a serious and possibly costly defect...
