2019 Jeep Wrangler rubicon jl - no modifications, all stock. Steering issues. I noticed at about 250 miles, the Jeep will drift in to other lanes at any given time for no apparent reason. Trying to correct, causes a wobble. It is very exhausting and frightening just trying to keep the Jeep in a single lane going forward at highway speeds while drifting and correcting. I took the Jeep to my local dealer and they told me there was a new recall that came out just days ago. The recall was for a new steering damper. I drove it for about a day and all seemed fine. Now, the Jeep is back to drifting again, I think not as bad but I do not have much to compare as I am now at 750 miles and owned 2 weeks. I am very concerned that someone could get very hurt when the Jeep drifts in to other lanes or off the side of the road. I did not buy my Jeep so that I could use it off road or to modify. I bought it because I liked exactly the way it was. I am not interested in selling, trading, or using the "lemon law". I am strongly urging the NHTSA please open an investigation into the steering issues before people start getting seriously hurt.

Steering issues caused by weak steering components and poor suspension geometry. Death wobble and jumpy, loose, wandering steering from factory. Brought into dealer may for updated oem trackbar with stiffer bushing update and updated steering stabilizer. This has tightened steering somewhat and reduced the amplitude of death wobble but has not eliminated it. Jeep still wanders and jumps onto adjacent lanes when hitting expansion joint on freeway. Dealer service manager refuses to consider alternative fixes that have been shown to have positive results for others. Wind noise from a pillar and freedom top. Dealer noted but failed to fix inadequate defroster channeling results in the defroster only clearing the center of windshield. Driver cannot see out of wi shield. Design flaw since this is on all 2018 and 2019 jl. Dealer refuses to fix fragile windshield glass. Service manager ager refuses to consider this an issue eve. Though 1000S have lost their windshield and have broken numerous ones in short about ts of time too short lower control armcountry ol arms in not enough caster and lack of a caster adjustment results in poor steering. All above items occur when Jeep is in motion and represents ts a hazard on the road.

The steering is loose. Over 1 inch of play in steering drifts to left and right and unable to control at any speed. Constantly have to fight the wheel. I am afraid to drive it. $52,000 to remain in the dealership repair shop is pathetic. I took mine back after 3 days and now I am fighting and filing lemon law. I was told by the dealership Chrysler told them not to fix it until they determined if a recall would be sent out, but they knew there was a problem.

Steering at speeds above 25 mph with this vehicle you will notice that there's too much play in the steering, requiring constant corrections especially on the freeway. Drifting from left to right trying to keep the vehicle between lanes on the roads/freeways can to lead to drivers fatigue; which could lead to a serious accident.

Steering on our new Jeep Wrangler is all over the place. You constantly have to correct as the car moves from side to side causing a very dangerous situation and the appearance you are an impaired driver. It is not safe to drive this car and it is brand new.

The steering on a brand new 2019 Jeep Wrangler jl with less than 100 miles has very loose steering with a dead spot at the top. It is extremely challenging to maintain a lane when driving, especially at highway speed requiring constant input from the driver. Under hard braking the vehicle will pull to the right. The dealer service department supposedly performed a 4-wheel alignment prior to me purchasing the vehicle after my initial compliant during test driving. This is a safety issue.

Wrangler 6-cyl

  • 100 miles
My brand new 2019 2-dr. Jeep Wrangler jl has a serious steering problem. At highway speeds, especially above 50mph, the steering wheel needs constant small adjustments to keep the vehicle in its lane. Both I and my wife find it difficult to keep the vehicle on track in normal highway driving conditions. We feel that this is a serious safety concern. The slightest distraction of the driver's attention from the constant need for small steering corrections could and will eventually result in the vehicle wandering out of its lane into an adjacent lane, causing a high-speed accident. Unfortunately, a cursory investigation of such an accident would probably and unjustifiably result in a finding of driver inattentiveness, completely overlooking the underlying mechanical cause. Our dealership service representative states that he is unaware of this problem with these vehicles, even though the internet is flooded with complaints and anecdotal accounts of this problem with the 2018 and 2019 Wrangler jl's. the manufacturer, Fiat Chrysler, has yet to provide definitive acknowledgement or remedy for this problem. Given the seriousness of a steering malfunction in the 2018 and 2019 Wrangler jl vehicles, and the probability of its causing or having caused serious accidents, we sincerely hope the NHTSA will engage Fiat Chrysler to address this problem at the earliest possible time.

Extremely difficult to keep the vehicle from wandering, especially at speeds 65mph and above. There is excessive play in the steering wheel, and the vehicle wanders to the right when letting go of the steering wheel, at any speed. Took the brand new vehicle to the service department, where they performed an alignment, and the issue remains exactly the same.

Purchased a 2019 Wrangler unlimited for over $40,000 on May 4, 2019. Immediately noticed an issue with steering. It sways left to right when driving straight and it's exhausting to keep the car in the lane. Brought it to the dealer at around 100 miles and they said nothing was wrong. I asked the tech to take mine and one on the lot for a test drive which he did. He immediately saw the issue. He searched for a fix and found that there was a part he could try to replace to resolve the issue (track bar). I brought the car back at 212 miles and they did the work. He said that's basically all they could do and hopefully it fixed it. Well it didn't fix it at all. It's still exhausting to drive the car because you can't keep it in the lane. Now when I drive straight, the steering wheel is crooked and feels like it's swaying left to right worse. I am honestly not comfortable driving this car far away from my home or on a highway because I may hurt some. I have had Jeep my whole life and my last two 2010 and 2011 drove perfect and the steering was tight as can be. When you drove straight the car just went straight. I am going to contact my dealer again to see if Jeep has released anything on this issue. I see many complaints about this here so I know it's not me and I feel this is an absolute safety issue for both me as a driver and anyone around.

Steering has too much play while driving. Constant movement of the steering wheel to maintain position with my lane. I've looked on line and have read many Jeep owners complaining about the same issue. There may have been an issue at the factory where the computer was programmed for a 2 door Jeep vice the 4 door Jeep. This issue takes place on side streets as well as highway, but is more difficult to control at highway speeds.

The steering wanders at highway speeds. It is impossible to maintain a straight line while driving with out continuous driver input. There seems to be a momentary lag from the input to the steering wheel before the vehicle changes direction. While driving at highway speeds, the vehicle is always moving slightly to one side, and when sufficient correction is made, the vehicle is wandering to the opposite side. I have owned my vehicle for one month. I initially brought it back to the dealership and they replaced the track bar. This did not solve the issue.

Excess play in steering while driving. The excess play gets worse at highway speeds and requires constant small corrections in the steering in order to stay in your lane. This "wandering" of the vehicle gets dangerous as your are constantly trying to keep the vehicle from wandering into other lanes. Needles to say, it is also exhausting on trips.

I have 2019 Jeep Wrangler and something is wrong with the steering you can't keep it in the lane. You are always correcting your steering to keep it going straight. I have had 2 other Wrangler and none of them drove like this. I have brought it to the dealership and they keep telling nothing is wrong. Something is wrong with this Jeep. This happens when driving at any speed but is more noticeable when you are going 50mph on any road type.

This "wandering" of the vehicle gets dangerous as your are constantly trying to keep the vehicle from wandering into other lanes. Needles to say, it is also exhausting on trips. This is a known issue by the manufacture however is not affecting all of the wrangles as some of them have no steering issues whatsoever. Most dealerships will tell you that the vehicle drives as designed, however, this is my 4th Wrangler and I have never felt this play in steering before. I have test driven six Wrangler in 2019 and some drive perfect, so I know the vehicle can drive much better and the "loose" steering is not driving as designed. If it is, Jeep has a real problem on their hands as this will cause accidents.

Steering is very loose and requires constant correction. I bought this on 4/24/2019 brand new. It is extremely dangerous because it steers left or right on its own without driver input. This needs to be fixed before someone dies. This is not a "Jeep thing". it's not normal. This is a serious safety issue. It should not be attempting to change lanes on its own.

Steering feels loose when driving at any speed. Car wanders on the road and requires constant steering input to stay in the lane. Feels like I am driving an old toy go-cart, with a dead spot in the steering. There is so much play that the steering wheel can be turned ~10 degrees with no change. Researched that this is a chronic problem with 2018 and 2019 Jeep Wrangler. Jeep service states that the problem can be fixed with a new track bar, but the dealers are allowed to only order one part per week. My dealer stated that he cannot order the part for another 4 days! since when can a manufacturer ration parts that are critical for vehicle safety?!
