This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The console on the dash that shows the radio and back up camera view very frequently has white lines running through it. You can not see the screen. As a safety issue, you also can not see the camera view when trying to back up. It is a safety issue. I'm seeing on vlogs that many people have this same complaint.
The touch screen has started to delaminate. It is currently still in the vehicle and available to review. The touch screen will randomly start "pressing" buttons. First this is a distraction to the driver as the radio station is changed, calls are randomly placed and setting are changed. Second you have settings that affect the way the vehicle physically brakes and steers that are configured via the Uconnect system, and that system has a defect that can cause those settings to change without the knowledge of the user, that-??s a safety issue. Multiple sites have stated that this issue is common on 2017 and newer Jeep products. I will be taking it to a dealership to see what the replacement cost will be but the estimates from phone calls is around $800 to $1600. No warning other than the screen began to bubble and the the random "button pushing" began.
I have a 2018 Jeep Renegade, When it rains water leaks from my roof/ceiling down to my dashboard soaking all the electrical equipment. My vehicle doesn-??t have a sunroof and I can-??t find where the leaking is coming from.
The Radio/ radio screen failed and continues to malfunction. While driving the radio was going bonkers and eventually called 911 by itself. The radio constantly changing stations and settings resulted in losing focus on the road and could have led to an accident. Dealer confirmed radio needs to be replaced. The component has not been inspected. There were no warning lights, or messages. Noticed bubbles on screen in 2020 or 2021. Didn-??t know it would go bonkers and behave independent like it did when the problem occurred earlier this year

From the first few months we've had this car it will randomly stall out about 10 times over 5 years while driving on busy streets. We've taken it to a Chrysler dealership and were told it was fine, but that we should get more frequent oil changes. We don't drive this car much (5 years and only 24k miles). It is still doing this and I just checked articles on this model/year and there are both fuel pump UB2 and powertrain control recalls U87 that say they lead to stalling out. But they are not listed as being recalls on our vehicle. I called Chrysler tonight and they said these recalls aren't for our vehicle, only a random software update W20. The car has been taken to a Chrysler dealer a few times. It also had an issue where sometimes we couldn't pump gas (gas pumps wouldn't work) and read online there was a failure in some Jeep gas tanks that they were missing a hole. We looked and there was no visible hole. We took it to the Chrysler dealership and they told us that wasn't a real error and nothing was wrong but when it got it back there was a hole there and we have been able to pump gas since. So I'm not sure that we trust that dealership.
My car shut down and will not restart in High altitudes. This has been on ongoing issue since I purchased it in 2019. The car will sputter and feel like it has no power, then die. When I go to restart, it will not start. We have almost been hit by traffic several times because of this issue. Seems to only happen in high altitude. We live in the mountains, so we climb elevation quite a bit.
The Uconnect 8.4 touchscreen is changing channels, and other features, and in addition, changes the temperature in the car. This is a safety hazard as it is distracting, and is making the vehicle unusable, and uncomfortable to use. I have contacted Chrysler customer care several times and keep getting the run around in getting the Uconnect replaced, and have not gotten a resolution.
Vehicle is not throwing a code or check engine light but is sputtering and stalling or losing power while driving. This can be when I-??m slowing down or accelerating. It-??s done it on the interstate and while approaching a red light. I have taken it to the dealership and they said there is nothing wrong with my vehicle and they can not find the issue. I had them check the fuel pump since that was the closest issue I can find to my issue. They said the fuel pump has no issues. There has to be a reason why my car is shutting down while driving and not all the time. It will do it one day and not again for weeks or months and then do it back to back and then nothing again for a while. There has to be a reason why my Jeep is acting like this and not triggering a light or code and the dealer is unable to resolve it.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request" The back manual sunroof broke off on the highway going 60 mph. The sunroof flew onto the highway while the hinge that was attached to the sunroof flew off hitting me while driving. It is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I was physically hit with the piece that broke off, and if there was a car driving behind me, the sunroof flying off could have caused an accident. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Vehicle will be going to Jeep dealership on 6/7/2023 Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The component will be inspected by Jeep on 6/7/2023 Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear" There were no symptoms prior to failure. Sunroof had not been opened in 3 years, we only used the front automatic sunroof which is also displaying signs of failure.
sunroof would not retract to closed position. I tried to reset the module to get the sunroof to close and pieces were heard breaking inside as the mechanism tried to close. I believe the glass is no longer on the track system. sunroof mechanism does not work anymore
It consumes oil fast. I just had an old change 1845 miles ago. My oil light came on check and it ts empty not a drop on the stick. Not the 1at time it's happened. No oil leak. Only 58000 miles
Uconnect radio system developed a delamination issue resulting in phantom touchscreen presses that began activating various vehicular systems including the climate control system, infotainment system, and most importantly, the SOS system that then proceeded to dial 911 multiple times without user input.
Vehicle suddenly powers down with no warning lights. This happened in traffic. Upon pulling over, turning off and restarting the vehicle, it was fine. It happened again a half hour later. Dealership could not identify the problem. Car was fine for more than a week, then happened again. It seems to be a common problem per internet search for this model.
I am not sure what component has failed but it cause the car to stall where ever it is located without time to maneuver the vehicle to a safe area. I have had the oil consumption test completed multiple times, I have had to have the vehicle towed to the dealership on multiple occasions. I try not to drive the car on the highway due to the possibility of the car stalling at speeds of 70 mph and would pose a risk to myself and others. The dealer did witness the problem the last time I had the car towed, as they had a difficult time getting the car off of the flatbed because it wouldn't start. The dealer has only changed the battery and alternator, they have not resolved this issue and I have had this issue since I purchased the car new in 2019. They have all of my service tickets to back up my claims but refuse to fix the problem. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone other than the dealership that it was purchased from. All of the warning lights flash when the vehicle stalls. After researching on google, this is a common problem and there is a class action lawsuit that has been filed and is in progress. I am not sure what is causing this but I do have to get oil changes before it is time for my scheduled oil change which would lead me to think this is related the oil consumption or fuel pump issues that have been reported. I do not feel safe driving the vehicle. The vehicle is actually at the dealership now and they are telling me that it is ready for pick up after only fixing the battery and alternator.
Coolant in reservoir has been overheating since replacement of o-ring on pressure cap. I have take the car to the mechanic twice to find the solutions as to what could be causing this issue. The first time I was told it was not my radiator because I thought I had suffered damage to it from an accident a couple of years ago, and the second time they have flushed the system and told me there were no signs of leakage in the system. I have even speculated it could be the thermostat housing, so I got that replaced as well, but to no avail.
On several occasions the sun roof will not close. when you try to close the vent it will open it self all the way and will not close. There have been times it started to rain and could not close it because it would move forward then go back all the way open. I took it to the dealer and they said if something is in the track it will not close. That includes water if you wash the windshield.
I have had 4 incidents now where I made a right hand turn and the car stalled in the middle of the road. Turned the engine off, attempted to restart. The engine would try to fire, but would take several tries, then would start roughly. Then would run fine.
While going down the highway, the jeep shut down/locked up. The engine was still running, but wouldn't let me turn it off or run anything electrical. Every service light possible came on. In order to get it to turn off, we had to turn off the computer. After that, it had no power whatsoever. The key light was showing. Luckily, I was able to pull over before getting hit. I had both of my kids in the car. I've seen where other people have had this happen. Why has it not been recalled. We're still waiting to find out what the issue is but the mechanic shop is behind due to workers being out with Covid.
