When I turn on car a red lighting light kept coming up on dashboard, by my gas meter. Also, it seemed like my car didn't want to speed or it would after and go low velocity. When this light turned on. I looked it up and it's the 'electronic throttle control' I seen a couple of videos on youtube and say it may be a recall from 2011-2017 Jeep Patriots wanted to know if it is and need to fix soon before it gets worse. Please. No money due to covid and recently looking for another job. Can't afford $1200
When I'm driving and let off the gas to coast, go around curves, or uphill;, my Jeep seems to cutout, skip, or putter as I accelerate again. It seems like it is going to die. I took it to the dealership and they told me nothing is wrong with it. It is only getting worse. And of course I was 3,000 miles over my warranty when it stated happening.
My vehicle is sputtering, and accelerating very uneven, stalling. It's doing everything the recall states but my VIN says it's been repaired, but seems to be incorrect.
I was coming out of a stop getting ready to get into the turning lane for the interstate ramp and when I pressed the gas the car barely moved but the RPM shot up and was revving. Came to a full stop and put car in park and it made a very loud noise. Put back in drive and seemed to be normal.
The contact owned a 2016 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated while driving at unknown speed she noticed smoke from the hood of the vehicle. The contact stated she pulled over the vehicle and exited the vehicle. The contact stated the vehicle was on fire and she could not breathe. The fire department came to the scene and was able extinguish the fire. The vehicle was towed to towing lot. The vehicle was not taken to local dealer for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
The car stalls while driving it down the road at more then 20mph and it's very dangerous because it does it with no light or any indication that something is wrong. I believe it's completely electrical but I'm taking it in to the mechanics tomorrow. I was driving down a highway when it stalled on me thankfully I was on the slow lane and was able to pull to the side but not before someone almost rear ending me.
Check engine light staying on "gas cap notification" new aftermarket gas cap still same notification...driving at 55mph or just idling vehicle just shuts off ?sometimes it will restart while driving but will die again...have to try to pull off road to avoid traffic when possible...have to put in park & wait for all chimes to ring then try starting again...very scary when you can't leave from a stop sign or come to no power situation on a busy highway...don't get on interstate since this started!!
As I am driving, when I slow down or sit in traffic my car randomly shuts off without any indication that anything is wrong on the dashboard. I can't brake nor accelerate when this happens. Mechanic doesn't see anything wrong but it happens atleast 3 times a month. This usually happens when on a highway or very busy boulevard. I've almost crashed every time this happens while my daughter is in the vehicle.
When accelerating my engine seems to bog down and stall very frequently. This had almost caused what could of been a serious accident. Once I was turning in a 4 way intersection and it stalled when car yielding to me was approaching me in intersection almost causing a T bone type crash and the other times was on the highway while accelerating the engine stalled each time causing what could of potentially been a life threatening accident. I was extremely close to being hit by a semi once, a truck pulling a trailer once and multiple cars on different occasions.
There is a leak somewhere that floods water through the map lights in the roof every time it rains. It has shorted out the entire radio screen where it no longer functions. Took into a dealership to take a look and they said it was fixed 2 times and still continued to leak. I have forums online that hundreds of people have the same exact issue! I will proceed with filing lemon law if this does not get addressed.
My vehicle stalls when you push the gas pedal, you have to turn the vehicle off and restart it, it will also completely stall going down the road going anywhere between 20 to 45 miles per hour
Acceleration has been stalling a month after purchasing the vehicle. Oil change has been up to date as well as the diagnostics but unfortunately we still haven"T found the cause. We didn"T think too much of it until a friend of ours transmission just shut down on hers and she had the same issue with her 2014 Jeep Patriot. The stalling comes and goes but often stalls when accelerating.
Automatic Jeep, has difficulty shifting between gears when accelerating. This is especially noticeable when going a slower speed (I.e. turning a corner, in rush hour traffic with stop-and-go speeds), but does do it at higher speeds (ex. 60 mph to 70 mph). It does not seem to have issues when down shifting. The vehicle has a very noticeable lurch/shutter when it is attempting to shift to a higher gear and will do it repeatedly in a short period of time. The vehicle needs to be driven a while before it will occur, I drive it about 20 miles before it starts exhibiting the issue. The issue is most frightening in city/rush hour traffic because it seems like the vehicle might stop running all together. The vehicle also seems to struggle to make it up hills, as if it does not have enough power to make the climb of even a small hill. The RPM gauge really jumps up high to about 5-6 when climbing a small hill or accelerating 5-10 mph to pass someone on the highway. The issue started before the vehicle had reached 60,000 miles. Filters and oil have been changed several times and fuel injector cleaner has been added to the gas several times, none of these measures have changed the performance issue of the vehicle.
Active headrest was deployed/activated while idle at a red light, the headrest hit the back of my head and made me release the brake while stopped at a red light, there was also a very loud noise (kind of like a gun shot noise). This was very scary as I had no idea what had happened or what had hit my head, I had to pull to the side of the road and examine my car to make sure it was safe to drive it. All this while I was in pain resulting from the headrest hitting the back of my head.
Two times approximately 6 months apart, my Jeep Patriot completely stalled while driving 70 mph on the interstate in the middle of traffic. Leaving me about 8 seconds to get to the side of the road where the Jeep started right back up with no problem and drove with no issues. About a day after each episode the check engine light turned off. Both times, I almost got hit by semi trucks because I drive in a big city.
I drove 30 minutes to work. Stopped for 10 minutes to get breakfast. And as I was parking my car, 2016 Jeep Patriot, it began to smoke. No lights came on. I turned it off and got out. Then the car just caught a fire. A regularly maintenance Jeep Patriot just caught fire and is destroyed.
