Front seatbelts will just unbuckle after you've buckled. The Jeep wont accelerate, it wont shift until 3 1/2 grand, between 0-40 mph it chugs & almost dies, once above 40 its usually fine. The dealer says things are fine. What is wrong and why wont these issues come up on diagnostics? the tire low sensor is always on - even after new tires & they reset it. No wonder the warranty length was lowered. Brakes became sqeaky around 6 months. One owner - me unfortunately.

My 2016 Jeep Patriot was purchased on January 29, 2016. This vehicle has been nothing more then a death trap for me and a cash cow for the dealership. I have had major life or death problems almost with this vehicle. This vehicle began stalling out and shutting off while driving down busy interstate or other roadways in 2017. My vehicle is currently at the dealership due to stalling out and shutting off in the middle of a busy highway on June 29, 2019 after I left my job. I have filed a complaint with the consumer protection division and I expressed the dangers and the government hasn't stopped in to intervene as of today. I notified Chrysler manufacturer of the problem in 2017, when my vehicle only had 50,000 miles. Once again there wasn't anything done concerning this situation. I notified the NHTSA and this organization hasn't done anything but post my complaint online. This is my second complaint with NHTSA. There has been several recalls on this matter but Chrysler claimed that my vintage number wasn't part of the recall. Although my 2016 Jeep Patriot was doing the exact same thing as the other 2016 Jeep Patriot, that was stalling out and shutting off in the middle of the highway. This death trap of a vehicle should have been recalled when I first initially filed this complaint. Well I guess I'll just watch and see how many people have to lose their lives behind these garbage Jeep Patriots before they recall these death traps. I will definitely look into filing a lawsuit against Chrysler and name all of the agencies that was made aware of this deadly problem. And they done absolutely nothing concerning this matter. I contacted the manufacturer once again this morning. And I have been assigned another case manager and so I'll wait on this phone call after 8:00A.M. today. I can provide all documentations of the complaints filed.

This is an ongoing problem. The engine stalls randomly while driving. It is very unsafe. We have taken it to the dealer several times and they said they were unable to duplicate the problem.the first time we took it to the dealer. They said they couldn't find the problem because there weren't any computer codes. We took the car back home and the problem still occurred. We brought it back to the dealer and paid for them to do the work for the S89 recall even though our VIN isn't covered. I don't know why the recall just covers the wire harness and not the crankshaft sensor itself. We got the Jeep back. The problem still occurred. I took it back to the dealer and the third time they replaced the fuel pump and the throttle body assembly. We had to pay for the repairs because at approx.42,000 miles it was out of warranty which is only 36,000 miles. We got the Jeep back. Not fixed. The Jeep has stalled at traffic lights and stop signs and also upon turning. We have also stalled going 60 mph on the highway and barely had time to pull off the road. Most of the time, the engine will restart right away, but sometimes you have to wait several minutes. The Jeep is back at the dealer. We had called Chrysler and gotten a case manager. We got a call from him yesterday that the dealer service dept. Still had not found the problem. He was going to check with them again tomorrow. It is unsafe to drive in this condition and we don't know why the problem isn't being fixed.

Car cuts off (engine stall) after starting & driving! first it was hard to start, then it would cut off after starting or putting into drive, finally it cut off on me while driving in the middle of the street (had to be towed)! thank god, I wasn't on a main highway! before the complete shut down, auto zone ran a check on my vehicle for me, showing battery & alternator were fine, but found that the sensor (crankshaft or camshaft) was the problem, with car cutting off! NHTSA shows this to be a problem (vehicle stalling, ) with the 2016 Jeep Patriot, but my VIN is not listed. I spoke with my dealer, they acknowledged that was a known problem but not on my VIN#, & that I would need to pay for a diagnostic from them, to prove that is what wrong (can accept information from auto zone)! I am unable to use my vehicle, because of this problem, if this is a known problem with the Jeep Patriot by the dealer & NHTSA, why isn't my VIN# not on the list??

2016 Patriot with,54,000 miles. No major issues prior. 2 weeks ago however, I was left stopped in the middle of a highway entrance ramp, almost rear-ended by a semi and side swiping a construction sign to avoid being hit. When accelerating the etc symbol (lightening bolt) will display, traction control icon and check engine light will display. The Jeep completely stops accelerating (highway speed to 0 mph within seconds=deadly), it will shake before just dying. If I'm lucky I'll make it to the shoulder (if it happens to have one). Through google research, I came across a way to do a "reset" (turn car off, insert key and turn "on", press gas pedal slowly, release slowly, turn car off and then restart the engine). Doing this typically clears the icons and I'm able to travel again. This intermittently happens, so you never know when you're potentially about to be involved in an accident from stopping in the middle of the roadway. When driving on city/town roads, it has not completed stopped as stated above, but will "jump" when switching gears, then throw the etc symbol. If I let off the gas, the icon goes away and car runs normal. I took it to a mechanic 1 day ago and was told to get a new battery. The battery was changed 1 day ago and the issue occurred multiple times today. Through online searches it appears this is a terribly common issue that Jeep has yet to address! someone is going to end up losing their life because of this malfunction. There appears to be no way of knowing this is going to happen or any preventative measures that a typical person would know to take to avoid this deadly malfunction. As easy as it is to just take it to a mechanic, that is not financially possible for everyone and in this situation needs to be addressed by Jeep as it is recurring issue and is deadly. Nothing as a vehicle owner would avoid this from occurring.
