The rear passenger driver side window would not come back up after I let the window down to get some of the snow off of window. I tried to let the window up, but no such luck, every time I would press the button to let the window up all I would get was a loud nose. So I stop what I was doing & was able to pull window up. Now I have tape holding up the window.

I took the vehicle to a mechanic that work on jeeps and was told that I need a window regulator.

TOOK MY DAUGHTER LIBERTY IN FOR RECALL ON GAS TANK ISSUE, TOLD THE SERVICE REP ABOUT WINDOWS PROBLEM AND HE SAID REALLY, LIKE HE'S NEVER HEARD ABOUT THE PROBLEM. ALL IN ALL THE JEEP HAS BEEN A GOOD CAR FOR MY DAUGHTER, JUST WINDOWS ISSUE

I still own a 2006 Jeep Liberty Limited. My teenager now drives it. Both rear windows have fallen down, within a year or 2 of each other, and both are now tied up due to high cost of replacement. Apparently, the Chrysler replacement regulators break, too, so why would I bother to spend the money only to have them break again. I called Chrysler right after the first one broke, and spoke to customer service there several times. There was no recall, and no warranty. I called the dealer and was informed that the cost to replace one was over $400.00. I took it to a repair shop, and they came to the same conclusion.

After the second one broke, I called Chrysler again to complain. I was told that there was an extended warranty on the regulators, but that my Jeep was now beyond that. I forget if it was in time or miles. So why didn't they contact me about this warranty? I get other recall notifications. And the first time one broke, it would have been covered. Unbelievable.

Also, they say it is not a safety issue. What if one of my son's friends in the back seat had to get out in a hurry after an accident? Neither of those windows work.

Thanks, Chrysler.

This is the 3rd window regulator that has broken on my 2006 Jeep Liberty over the past few years. (4th occurrence because the first time it had happened I had it repaired at the dealer at my cost and it broke again a year later). Now I have 3 windows taped up just so they stay up because I refuse to have to continuously pay for repairs to an obvious faulty part that Jeep no doubt knows about. Especially if it's going to just break again.

Why is there no recall to have these window parts replaced so we don't have to ride around town with a roll of tape? I'm outraged at the numerous defects that have occurred on my jeep but the windows needing to be held up with tape is just a joke that constantly reminds me of the junk this company has built. They should be as ashamed of themselves as I am for having my windows taped up because let me tell you, it is not a great look.

Shame on Jeep for not taking care of their customers by fixing the problem.

This is the 4th window (I only have 4) that has been replaced, one twice and one is tied up with a tie wrap on the inside of door panel. The last window came next to a child in a child car seat, back window, pouring rain.....very dangerous! Terrified to go to a car wash!!!!!

This will be the 5th time in 7 years I have had to fix the window regulators. My Jeep stays in a garage- so this part shouldn't melt- right now I have something wedged in there to keep it from falling. It has ranged anywhere from over $200-$80 and I've put less than 30,000 miles on my vehicle. They need to recall this issue. I will never buy a Jeep again and I'm still waiting for the fuel tank -almost 2 years on that recall

FIRST LET ME SAY A COUPLE OF THINGS. CHRYSLER/JEEP WILL NEVER SEE ME AGAIN. THE CAR HAD BETWEEN 11 AND 12 THOUSAND MILES ON IT WHEN THE FIRST WINDOW DROPPED AND SCARED MY WIFE HALF TO DEATH. IT WAS THE BACK LEFT SIDE WINDOW. IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE FELL. THE GLASS DIDN'T BREAK ON EITHER.

HERE IS WHERE IT STARTS GETTING UGLY. THE JEEP WAS OUT OF WARRANTY (TIME NOT MILEAGE). I WENT TO THE DEALER FOR THE REGULATOR AND WAS QUOTED ROUGHLY $250 FOR THE FIRST WINDOW. I DIDN'T BOTHER GOING FOR THE SECOND WINDOW. HERE'S A TIP-I FOUND A DEALER (CHRYSLER) ON E-BAY IN ONE OF THE CAROLINAS N OR S THAT SOLD ME THE REGULATORS FOR ABOUT $53 SHIPPED. MY NEPHEW IS AN ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC, AND HE INSTALLED THEM FOR $60 A PIECE. NEITHER THE DEALER OR JEEP MENTIONED THE "SECRET" WARRANTY, BUT I FOUND OUT ABOUT IT ON THE INTERNET.

I JUMPED THROUGH ALL THEIR HOOPS SENDING ALL OF THEIR DOCUMENTATION, AND WAS TOLD I'D BE HEARING FROM THEM IN A FEW WEEKS. WELL I HEARD AND THE NEWS WAS NOT GOOD. THEY CALLED ME, AND AT FIRST THERE WAS A LADY ON THE PHONE, AND FOR NO REASON THEY CHANGED TO A YOUNG SOUNDING MAN. HE CAME RIGHT OUT AND TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD DENIED ME COVERAGE. I THEN TOLD HIM I KNEW ABOUT THEIR SECRET WARRANTY. THIS CAUGHT HIM OFF GUARD, BUT HE SOON RECOVERED. THEN HE TOLD ME THAT THE JEEP WAS NOT A 2006 BUT A 2005. I TOLD HIM THAT HE IS WRONG AND I COULD PROVE IT. MY TITLE AND ALL PAPER WORK SAYS 2006. NOW WE HAVE A RUNNING BATTLE. HE TOLD ME THAT THE VIN NUMBER SHOWED THE JEEP HAD BEEN ASSEMBLED IN THE LAST QUARTER OF 2005 SO IT IS AN O5. JUST THE SAME AS THE PAPERWORK STATES. HE SAID NONE OF IT MATTERS. THEY SAID NO TO THE COVERAGE.

I'M NOT USED TO LOSING SO I TOLD HIM WHAT I LEARNED WORKING IN THE AIRLINE INDUSTRY FOR OVER 36 YEARS. SCREW OVER A PASSENGER AND SHE WILL COMPLAIN ABOUT YOU AND YOUR AIRLINE TO AT LEAST TEN PEOPLE, BUT DO SOMETHING EXTRAORDINARILY HELPFUL OR NICE AND YOUR LUCKY IF SHE TELLS ONE PERSON. THIS IS WHY I MUST TELL THIS STORY. IT DOESN'T END HERE.

THE JEEP HAD BETWEEN 11,000 AND 12,000 MILES ON IT. IT HAD A LITTLE OVER 30,000 MILES ON IT WHEN I TRADED THE P. O. S. IN AND GOT $8,000 TRADE IN. I WARNED THE GUY FROM CHRYSLER THAT I WOULD UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE WOULD I EVER OWN ANOTHER CHRYSLER PRODUCT ,AND THAT I WOULD BAD MOUTH THEM AND THEIR NO WARRANTY FOREVER. EVERY WORD IS TRUE AND THE DEALER WITH THE GOLD PLATED REGULATORS IS BERGERON CHRYSLER, JEEP, DODGE, AND RAM IN METAIRIE La. I ONLY FEEL SORRY FOR THE GUY THAT BOUGHT IT.

Every window regulator broke, some more than once. Had to tape shut until could afford to repair. Snapped while driving, almost causing a wreck. Had repaired one, then another snapped. Repaired at dealership in Cedar Lake IN and they broke the door, so now cannot get out. Finally replaced regulators after numerous letters to big wigs at Chrysler....What a hassle and fight it has been. Very dangerous and the interior of my vehicle destroyed from rain and snow when broke.

The driver's side rear window has been repaired multiple times. Chrysler wanted too much when I took it in there, so fixed elsewhere. Chrysler did NOT notify me that they had extended the warranty on this and I assume the dealer did not know it either. Now broken again outside of the extended period and taped up my last Chrysler product!!!

WAS OUT FOR MY MY BIRTHDAY LUNCH, MY SISTER WANTED THE FRONT WINDOW DOWN. HIT THE REAR PASSENGER BUTTON INSTEAD OF FRONT BUTTON. REAR WINDOW WENT DOWN AND STAYED !! IT WAS POURING RAIN!! WAS CLOSE TO WESTBORN CHRYSLER. TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM, THEY WENT OUT PUSHED THE WINDOW UP. I ASK HOW MUCH IT COST TO FIX THE WINDOW? I ALREADY HAD A GOOD IDEA WHAT HAPPENED. THEY TOLD ME AROUND $400. I SAID I WOULD TRY CALLING CHRYSLER. THE PERSON LAUGHED AND SAID DON`T WASTE YOUR TIME. SO , I LEFT. GOT BACK ON THE ROAD IT FELL AGAIN!! SO HAPPY FLIPPING BIRTHDAY. MY GRANDSON TOOK IT APART USED SOME GLUE. AND EVERY TIME I HAVE TO GO SOMEWHERE I KEEP LOOKING BACK TO SEE IF MY WINDOW IS STILL UP....... OH P.S. I have a 06 Jeep Liberty that I purchased eight year ago and I've had the Driver Rear Window Regulator replaced twice from the Dealership and the Passenger Rear Window Regulator replaced once. Last night the Drivers-side Rear Window Regulator broke again, causing the window to slide down about half way. It rained last night and this morning the back seat and floor was covered with water not to mention my briefcase and all its contents. This will be the THIRD time for this window to be replaced. All this in just the 1 year that we've owned it. Hmmm??? But I'm still a Jeep Diehard.

I believe the Factory has fixed this problem but I have a feeling the Dealership is still replacing the Window Regulator only with the same revision. (In other words, another one that will break in about 6 months and its back to the dealership).
