How can they deny this is a problem when gas spills all over your car, the ground and sometimes sprays all of your body.

Because of the multiple recalls and horrible customer service around them I will never purchase another car form them.

I can not leave the pump to fill and expect it to automatically stop. It has over flowed many times if I don't listen to it very carefully and stop it. Very aggravating. I will not recommend a Jeep to anyone because of all the crazy things that go wrong!!!

Like so many others, as the tank is nearing full, the pump will shut off but then it's as if there is air trapped in the fuel tank and the trapped air pushes the fuel in the filler tube back out and onto the ground, the side of the car and sometimes me. The way I've adapted to the problem is to run the tank down to near empty then fill normally to 15 gallons and then stop and fill the rest of the way manually at the slowest rate the nozzle will put out. It will then click off and it's full. It will sometimes still spit a few drops out or run down the side of the car a little. Just the pain in the ass I've learned to deal with.

Every time you fill this Jeep Liberty with gasoline, the pump won't auto shut off and it spills gasoline all over the side of the truck and the ground. This is dangerous, this is wasteful, and it is terrible for the environment! Shame on Jeep, poor engineering, shoddy manufacturing, and sub par customer service.

I can't fill up my tank with out taking a gas bath. I have talked to other Jeep Liberty owners who have had the same problem. I should not have to fix a design flaw from the company.

I bought my Jeep in 2009, and have not had one complete fill up that the fuel has not overflowed on me and the side of my Jeep. Now I just put $10 in at a time. What a pain in the ass.

Every time I start to fill my tank it overflows. I lose approx. 1/2 gallon on the ground every time I fuel the car. This is ridiculous! I just bought this Jeep a few weeks ago. The previous owner/ car dealership did not make us aware of this problem. I have taken it in four times now for "fixes" for this issue, including a new gas tank, and no solutions.

I paid myself to have it fixed, but here I am, having the same issues again. I have NEVER had this happen on any other vehicle I have owned since I was 16. Defective part. Moved from PA to TX, can't take it back to the dealership that fixed it. It needs a recall.

I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty that continues to allow gas to be fueled even though full, spitting the gas out and not automatically shutting off. It happens at numerous gas stations, so it is not the gas pump. I saw another person write about this same problem on this site. No one seems to know how to fix it, but it definitely can be a fire hazard or a dangerous problem.

Initially, contacted Chrysler about the issue. They said that they would help with the gas tank replacement cost. I called them from the dealer, did Chrysler a 180 and completely refused to help. I have remember where the needle is while filling the gas. If not, gas is all over the place. They have recalled 2007 and forward. I have a 2006 Liberty. It is a problem magnet.

It is getting ridiculous and I have had enough. I bought my 2006 jeep liberty in 2011 with about 60,000 miles the first time I put gas in it it spit fuel all over the place down the side of my jeep and on me. It has gotten worse and you never know when it's going to spill fuel everywhere it is embarrassing and dangerous I'm at risk for pumping my gas and my young child is at risk for being in the vehicle. My jeep is in great shape with around 80,000 on it and I like it and put a lot into it but this problem is too much who wants to go to work or out in general smelling like gas and putting everyone who pumps gas near you lives in danger as well. I have been looking on different sites and everyone has this problem this should be grounds for a recall and the fact that it's going on with no care from jeep is unfair and ridiculous. I will Never buy another jeep thanks to jeeps response to our problems and really don't want the one I have. So thank you jeep for making my life miserable every time I need gas it's a unwanted adventure!!!!

The overspill while filling the gas tank is not only annoying but creates a safety concern at the gas station. And it's just messy. My temporary solution has been to carefully watch the fuel pump and stop fueling when I know I'm nearing full but this certainly is not correcting the actual problem. Additionally I currently have a check engine light illuminated for an emissions leak, and I suspect the two are related. I'm not interested in paying repairs for the emissions problem when it is the result of a factory defect.

Dear Jeep: issue a recall and regain the trust of your loyal customers.

My 2006 Liberty Sport overflows! When I fill it up my tank it overflows on the ground every time. It doesn't matter if I let it run by itself or if I pumped it myself, always over flows. Chrysler says my Vin number is not included in the extended warranty gas tank replacement.

I would like to know what can be done to resolve the problem of gas overflowing when filling up. I have tried keeping the nozzle on the slowest setting, starting, stopping, etc. and it still overflows.

I purchased what appeared to be a well maintained 2006 Jeep from a local reputable dealer at a cost over of 10K on 10/3/14.

The first tank fill up the gas overflowed out of the tank. There was no "stop" the gas just came out. The next gas fill up, the gas SHOT out of the tank this time. Still no warning to stop filling the tank with a gas "stop".

I contacted the dealer, who paid for and sent the car to a local Jeep dealer for repair. To make a long story short, they replaced the gas tank. Took the car home, filled the car on Friday and the gas mechanism did stop the gas, but only after gas leaked out from the gas tank again, and they never even tested the car to make sure the gas would not overflow!

As I found out later, they replaced the tank with a used tank. I am incredulous about this issue. My dealer is going to take care of this issue, I hope. And if it is not fixable, I will never buy another Jeep or Chrysler product! From what I am reading on the web no one is listening to us Jeep owners.

Thankfully I have a small warranty period that covers this issue. I wrote Jeep & NSDA to put this issue on recall, even though from what I have read they are ignoring this issue. I can attest this is Not internet hype. I have worked hard for most of my life and feel as a consumer I am being taken advantage of.

My time in and out of the dealership for repairs is just as valuable as the cost to fix the vehicle. To make such a substantial purchase to only find out that thousands of others are being ignored with the same issue is beyond me. Please help fix what is already broken!! And if you are looking to buy a Jeep product with over 50, 000 miles on it, fill the tank first, even at your own expense, before filing Jeep with another dime.
