I guess the saying "Misery Loves Company" has some truth to it because I find myself feeling a bit better that I am not alone in this ridiculous situation! My back window fell a day before I was about to drive across Arizona in 110 degree heat. This is the third time a window has fallen in my 2005 Jeep, and I was in tears at the thought of paying $300 AGAIN to get it fixed at the dealership. I went to a mechanic to see if he could find the regulator part at a cheaper price, and when he told me that he couldn't, I went with his second suggestion which was to just prop the damn window up permanently. I don't use the windows in the back all that much, but just knowing that the window can't go down is making me crazy...and the door will not open from inside either. Within a few weeks of this happening, my friend, and my sister-in-law both had windows fall in their Jeeps too.

Someone who posted earlier suggested a class action suit...anyone know how this can be done? Many people have also said that they were able to get Chrysler to foot some of the bill...apparently for the regulator but not labor. Seems the dealerships are cashing in on this frustrating problem. I know that when I went to have the regulator fixed the second time, the guy at the dealership just shrugged his shoulders when I started to complain about the problem and told me that he has replaced each of the regulators on his 2006 Jeep twice!!! Are you kidding me with this??

Front passenger window regulator failed...seems like I'm one of the crowd. Working on a DIY solution to avoid the expensive repair and prospect of repeated repair.

The back window should be under a re-call, it was hardly ever used.

Another solution would be to let the customer's pay for just the broken cable and not the window and motor that are still working properly. This is unacceptable to have to pay over $500.00 for something that is happening all the time to Libery truck owners. The dealerships are telling me that they see this ALL THE TIME!!! Where is the customer service htta Chrysler should be giving for repeat customers?

Rear driver side window failure with only 37,000 miles. Should be a recall item.

Update from Nov 4, 2014: Ending up putting in bolts to keep windows up, but permanently closed.

I have read about the rear windows in the jeep liberty 2004 failing because of a spring/plastic part in the regulator, I think this problem can be avoided. All three of the guys on this Auto Beef rant all live in Arizona. I live in Colorado and every summer that the temp goes over 90 and my 2005 jeep liberty is facing the sun that rear window falls down. The sad part is it does not fall when I am driving somewhere on a hot day but when the jeep is parked for a long time in the sun. So I am curious if parking in the garage fixes this problem, I live in an apartment complex and dont have a garage. My extended warranty has paid for this problem so far but when the warranty ends I may have to make the rear windows nonfunctional. Because I dont have $300 every summer to waste on a window I never use!!!

P.S. I think they finally fixed the window problem in the jeep liberties that dont look like ours!
