What a pain. Had just got in Jeep to take trip and drivers window stuck down. Do you know how much fun that was to unpack tape up the window and travel. I too had to replace every window regulator at my own expense due to one excuse or the other from the dealer.

Update from May 6, 2014: Third time to replace window regulator. When are they going to take care of me on fixed income.

Since Jeep continues to admit to the problem and I'm out $400 every year for a replacement part, I recommend a class action suit for past reimbursement and future newly designed part replacement free.

I own two 2005 Jeep Libertys and both have had problems with the power window regulators failing. I have repaired three of these regulators on my wife's gasoline 2005 Liberty and one on my diesel 2005 Liberty. I have only received assistance from Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep for this problem on one occasion. They repaired the first problem and charged a $100.00 labor fee. They have never had a recall for these defective regulators. I have repaired the last three regulators myself with after market repair kits for around $85.00 to $106.00 that are made from metal instead of plastic and the problem seems to have been solved. Why didn't Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep do this from the beginnning? I will never buy another product from Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep when this is the way they treat customers.

This is the third window regulator that has gone out on this 2005 Jeep Liberty, I have two of these Jeep Libertys. On the first repair in 2010, right rear side, a dealership wanted to replace the entire regulator for something like $400.00 when it was just the small plastic part of the regulator that was broken. We contacted Jeep directly and arranged to have the repair done for a $100.00 labor cost. I don't think they replaced the complete window regulator assembly, however. Then in July 2011 the left rear window went out and this time I decided to order the metal replacement piece from Steiger Performance and do the repair myself. Now it is 2013 and the front driver's side window has failed. I have ordered and received the third regulator part for this Jeep Liberty and have replaced another two regulators on my other Jeep Liberty(diesel). So far that makes five times that I have repaired or had repaired the regulators and neither Liberty has over 55,000 miles on them yet. Now, I understand there is a safety problem with the plastic gas tanks on these model year Jeep Libertys and Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep will not ask for a recall. You would think that after being bailed out with our TAX dollars twice that Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep would take better care of their customers. I believe I have bought my last Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep product.

OK, this is the third window to fail on my 2005 Jeep Liberty due to a defective window regulator. I am getting so tired of this problem happening again and again and no recall has ever been done for this problem. I will probably order the after market metal power window repair kit, repair it myself and avoid having to deal with Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep again. As far as I am concerned, I am finished with Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep forever. No more of their products for me. Is this the way customers and tax payers should be treated after bailing them out of near bankruptcy twice?

Had the repair on the rear right side window regulator done in 2010. The left rear window went out in July 2011 and I opted to do the repair myself by purchasing a metal (not plastic) piece for the regulator. Has held up well so far.

This past weekend, my rear driver's side window won't stay up. We've resorted to taping it so when it rains, the inside won't get soaked.

I had three regulators give out with in a three week period. When the first one gave out I was sure to fix it when I was able to get money to pay for the repairs. Then two weeks later two other regulators went out. I was floored because the expense. I looked on line and realized that this was a known issue for 2006 and 2007 vehicles. I thought I call the Jeep customer service to see if by chance they could see if my vehicle would fall in the recall they had for the 2006 and 2007 Jeeps. No such luck. Just very upset and disappointing that it will now cost me over 600.00 to repair all three windows.

I bought the JEEP on my 30th birthday! I STILL HAD THE 30 DAY TAGS ON IT WHEN THE WINDOW REGULATOR BROKE. I HAD TO COMPLAIN TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I SHOULDN'T BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS. I ALSO PAID EXTRA FOR A 3 YEAR WARRANTY AND GUESS WHAT, THE WINDOW WAS NOT COVERED! the dealership did fix this for me this time.

Another furious "I will never buy a Jeep/Chrysler ever again" customer. It goes without saying between the dealership and Chrysler you can expect to get shafted over and over regarding the window regulator. I saw a class action suit on line and am waiting for details. I can't believe how much they don't care about their reputation. Driving 70 mph on the freeway and that window dropped down into the door - it almost sucked the dog right into oblivion-thanks jeep-you stink!!!

This seems to be a big problem with the jeep liberty's. They extended the warranty to 7 years for the2006 and 2007 models, but with people having to get these fixed six different times in a matter of years something should be done about it. they need to replace the part with a better lasting part and have a lifetime warranty on the part. There are others I have read about having to get the same one fixed twice in 1 year. This is my second time to get mine fixed and it is about 350 each time.

The rear left side passenger window regulator FAILED AGAIN FOR THE SECOND TIME!! Same window "fell for no apparent reason" as did the first time approximately 2 years ago!!! As others here, the first time, this window was still under warranty. Not so this time. I have the SAME story as I am reading here-went through hoops trying to actually have a "Conversation" with the assigned case manager, Brian, from Chrysler!!! It only took 7 DAYS FOR ME TO ACTUALLY REACH HIM LIVE!!!" That alone was ridiculous!!

Meanwhile I am frantically trying to duct tape my window so that the environment and thieves do not get to my vehicle. Oh but park your car in the shade while at work or whatever as WHEN YOU COME OUT YOU WILL FIND YOUR STUPID WINDOW HAS SLID DOWN AGAIN!!!!" So per advice of a co-worker I put wooden shims in the inside frame to hold the window up.

But that pain in the #($&#($ was NOTHING compared to getting Chrysler to pay for this huge defect in the Liberty. It took the Lithia Chrysler Jeep dealership on S. Havana Aurora, Colorado 2 hours to tell me "Yep, window regulator bad." This is the SAME window-second time! And like others here-I have no kids nor does anybody ride in the back of the vehicle so Chrysler...you tell me!!

After waiting around forever they contacted "Brian" the case manager as aforementioned above-and "Brian" told them $100 deductible. Though "Brian" had told ME the day before the scheduled appointment with the Jeep service dept. that "The Dealership would probably charge a deductible"....now the dealership telling me that it's "Chrysler" charging..not them! Rubbish!!

I have had numerous problems with this 2005 Liberty since the day I purchased it new. In cold weather the rear window just opens up!!!! I mean OPENS UP with NO-ONE in it and the car is shut off!!!! On several occasions after getting out into the parking lot at work I had to forcibly shut the rear window over and over and over until it FINALLY stayed shut.!!! It just opens on it's own! Electrical problem!! The 6 speed transmission has ALWAYS felt funny especially in first gear..I am always struggling to get it into first gear...and this ongoing problem with the window regulator. Compared to some here $100 is not a lot compared to $300 to $800 that some say they have paid but to me $100 is a lot and I tried to fight them on it. They would not budge!! They said they were trying to get a reply from Chrysler but they weren't. Service managers just contact a manager at Chrysler and it would take about 5 minutes. Of course I was there for hours! Finally I just paid the $100 for the window repair. They also tried to "Make me feel as though they were doing me a favor by only charging $100 as a LOYAL Chrysler customer(their words-not mine!) for the SAME WINDOW REPAIR!!!" I will tell you that I bragged about my Jeep Liberty to all (even with the problems!) and raved about it but no more!! I, like other consumers will go elsewhere for my next vehicle! And not only that I will NOW tell everyone just how BAD Chrysler is to their customers! This is the second new vehicle I bought through this local dealership Lithia Chrysler Dodge/Jeep but no more!! This lack of concern for their loyal customer as well as not stepping up to the plate to replace a HUGE DEFECT in their vehicle just cost them at least another $25,000 in my next vehicle!!! Toyota is right next door-I'll go there or Ford!!!! No more Jeep's!!!!! Chrysler doesn't care-why should I?

Ok, driver side rear window 6 times repaired, passenger rear 2 times repaired, front driver and passenger 2 each repaired. First three years of vehicle, they fixed no charge, after I paid three times, last time yesterday, and other times, I had to call and argue that I shouldn't have to pay. I am waiting for my car to be stolen, since the window just falls, or find someone in the car at night. Scared to death at night when I see the window down and I am alone. The service people are nice the first time, then they get testy after a couple of times, then they tell you to handle it yourself and just want their money.

Doesn't Jeep realize we will be buyers again and each time this happens and they don't help or fix it, means this potential buyer is going to go somewhere else. I tell everyone I can not to buy a jeep. My husband is looking to get a new car, I won't even let him go onto the Chrysler Jeep lots. Been there done that.

I bought this Jeep in 2005 to replace our 1990 Cherokee, and since then we have to replace the window regulator on every moving window and some twice. Now its happened again and I cannot believe that the regulator breaks even when the window gets virtually zero use. I have never received a letter from Chrysler to extend the warranty of that windows,.Seriously, why would it just stop working and drop your window, what kind of crap materials are they using inside the window regulator? If Chrysler isn't building the damn thing then they need to find a new vendor or get the vendor to replace the crap plastic with nylon or something that will stand up to regular driving!!!! I didn't realize this problem was was so wide spread until I decided to search for a fix of my own. I am probably going to dissect the regulator and see what can be fixed on my own. I seriously will buy a different brand of car next time.
