I purchased a new 2018 Grand Cherokee trailhawk edition last fall that was factory equipped with "rock rails". I have discovered that the factory specified jacking location "pinch points" are obscured by the rails and no longer accessible using the supplied jack. There are "cutouts" in the rails but they are not large enough to allow access to the jacking location points. I had the first service performed at the dealership and showed them the problem. They also could not locate a safe jacking location using the factory supplied tools. It is potentially very dangerous to attempt any type of tire change procedure using the supplied factory jack on a Grand Cherokee with the rock rails option. Serious bodily injury and/or death could result if the vehicle was to slip/fall off the jack while following the procedure outlined in the factory user's manual. I have contacted us corporate Jeep several times via email and phone (3/15, 3/17, 3/27, and 4/2). They assigned case #58203148 to the issue but have not yet provided any suggestions or remedy to the problem. I have not received any response from them other than "they're looking into the problem". consumer stated the cutout is not large enough for the 'U' shape cusp of the jack to engage and provide a secure lift point. You will also notice that the rock rail pinch point is offset 90 degrees to the original lift points of the vehicle. This means you'd have to align the jack stand parallel with the vehicle rather than perpendicular.
I purchased the vehicle in November 2017 and June 2018 the radio started shutting down every 30 seconds. The Jeep dealer had it for 1 week trying to figure out the issue. It was never quite the same after they fixed it with a 'patch' but I lived with it. December 2018 my navigation stopped working along with my sirius radio. Intermittent restarts, jammed screens and locked bright blue screens also occurred. I was unable to use my phone or any other controls located in that screen. This includes my back camera and audible sensor. Today is March 3, 2019 and the dealer has had my car since January 9, 2018. They received 1 replacement radio, but it didn't work. They apparently tried other things that Chrysler tech told them to and that didn't work. They have ordered another radio, but the eta of shipping keeps getting pushed back further and further. The new date is March 8th of 2018, and I will guarantee the radio will not come in then either. I am making payments and paying insurance on a car that I don't even have. I am also trapped in a lease with no way to get out of it and get another car that works. This is far past unacceptable at this point!
Vehicle exhibited sudden unintended acceleration on two separate occasions, and caused an accident involving property damage. The vehicle, which had been on cruise control, was completely stopped in traffic for 30-45 seconds on I-95 in South Carolina. The car suddenly surged forward while the driver yelled at me 'my foot is on the brake'. it subsided once, then surged ahead again, leaving skid marks and colliding with the vehicle in front of us. It then surged a third time, ploughing that car ahead, before the driver could shift the transmission into park
The vehicle becomes very unstable (eg, it wobbles ) when I step lightly on the break at speeds of 60 mph and above. Also, this vehicle has a high risk of rolling over ( I lightly moved the steering wheel to avoid collision with a reckless driver that almost hits my car sideways on the highway, and the car lost control nearly rolling over. The vehicle was in motioned on Florida's turnpike.
Reverse backup camera suddenly stopped work. Very hazardous because it's a safety feature that's not working. God forbid I run over a child since I rely on the camera to reverse. I have video proof of the acquiring malfunction

Forward collision warning does not work. Dealership says the system will work correctly if the adaptive cruise control is activated. All information in the various Jeep owner's manual does not specific acc activation as a requirement. Searching the internet reveals many people experience the same problem. Jeep doesn't seem interested in helping.
My 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee trailhawk's sunroof suddenly exploded while driving 60 mph on the freeway during a hot summer day. I heard an initial loud crack sound and moments later the front sunroof glass shattered outward. I was able to get to the side of the road before the glass showered into my vehicle and over my head. I shut the sunscreen which helped, but there was millions of glass shards and fragments all over the inside of my car and throughout the ceiling. This vehicle only has ~6500 miles on it and was purchased in March 2018 brand new. I had the car towed on a flatbed truck to the dealer that I purchased it from and since, it's been in and out of the shop 3 times. The dealer replaced the front sunroof glass, seals and vacuumed out my car, however the day after picking it up, massive amounts of glass remained in the ceiling area. The second attempt and cleaning up the glass, they had to removed the interior header and seats to try and extract all the broken glass fragments. I'm taking the car back in for the 4th time, because there is still broken glass shifting around between the sunroof and sunscreen. The repairs have thus far been covered by warranty (manufactured defect), but this brand new vehicle is ruined. I'll be working with Chrysler customer care to see what my options are and if they will offer a new replacement vehicle or buy back. Very scary and grateful no one was seriously hurt... I'm very disappointed and frustrated to say the least and the saga continues.
Car was sold to me with a open recall. It was purchased June 13, 2018 and has been in the shop since July 11, 2018. They can not figure out what is wrong with it. The check engine line and automatic shut warning light keeps coming on. Car would vibrate when driving. Screen would shut off when in reverse and in the middle of driving.
Transmission problems. The transmission shifts are pronounced, cause the SUV to jerk and feel jumpy. This condition is sporadic, and can change based on mode - normal, eco off, sport. Besides causing a choppy ride, the condition is unacceptable and may be a R a precursor to gear failure.
Complained of an oil leak(oil marks on the garage floor and cardboard place to verify) prior to 7500 miles. Dealership unable to find the oil leak the first time. Took it back 1 week later to complain about an oil leak. Dealership placed dye into oil to find the leak. Leak was found to be the seal between the engine and transmission. When dealership went to replace seal, they stated the block was cracked due to "being machined during the assembly". now waiting for a new engine to be replaced on a new vehicle of 4 months. Ouch!
Brand new Grand Cherokee, only 400 miles, today my backup camera stopped working. On the display I have an icon "backup camera" when attempting to click this the backup camera would not pop-up. Turned the car off and kept it off for 10 minutes, re-started the car, the Jeep display does not pop-up with the safety notification and the backup camera does not come on the screen when the car is placed in reverse. It was working fine the last week and a half and all of a sudden this morning it will not work. I called Jeep and they are unsure what it is and may be a software update. I just paid $60,000 dollars and have had the car for 6 days and the backup camera is not working now!
Siriusxm travel link - is the problem. I was enrolled by the dealer without being asked. Siriusxm travel link pops up messages that are distracting to me as a driver. They pop up and will not go away without physically touching the high-tech screen. And they seem to have a habit of appearing when I am approaching a turn while using the navigation features. However, since they actually interfere with my driving (and frustrate me too) they are a danger. To make matters worse, I have contacted siriusxm and they are unwilling to turn travel link off. The date below is todays date, but it happens frequently. Often giving me warnings for "weather events" two states away !!! regarding a crash... all I can say is not yet (but has a higher potential).
I was driving on the highway around 5:30am. Clear traffic and no large truck in front. Speed around 65 mph and my sunroof failed by shattering for an unknown reason and glass fell from top to the floor. Have minor cut and the glass. Traveling on freeway.
I would like Jeep to have a setting added to the car settings to have the default status of the the start stop engine set to off so that the driver has the option to have it off rather than pressing the button every single time. I was driving the yesterday and almost got into an accident due to the lag between the engine starting up and me pressing the accelerator. It poses a danger to the drive/passenger and other motorists. This is a simple software fix that Fiat/Chrysler could send out to all vehicles equipt with this technology.
I have a few occurrences to tell about. 1. when taking it through a drive through car wash it was propelled forward at an unsafe speed. The vehicle was in neutral but still was shot forward and the brakes had to be applied quickly. This happened twice. 2. after coming off a freeway and coming to the first stoplight, when the speedometer hit 0 the vehicle lurched forward. I turned the auto stop off and proceed down the road. When I hit the next stoplight, it did the same thing, lurched forward hard, when the speedometer hit 0. 3. while getting up to speed, 70, on a freeway, the vehicle seemed to "miss" gears and it lurched a few times. 4. when approaching a turn, at slow a very slow speed, I tapped the gas for a little more speed and it propelled me forward hard and I had to hit the brakes. 5. in the first week of ownership an alert popped up on the center screen indicating the control panel had detected a problem with the catalytic converter system and it was a fire hazard. After taking it to the dealer they told me they could not find this in the computer memory anywhere and there was nothing wrong. At times I feel very unsafe in this vehicle and the whole reason I bought it is to feel safe and secure. Right now the vehicle has less than 1,000 miles on it.
Unconnect system in my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland turns off and on by itself ever 60 seconds whether you are driving or stationary. I believe it started this morning or last night. You cannot use bluetooth, the heat or the radio. I called the dealership where I purchased the vehicle less than 1 month ago and they said I was the 6th report today and the vehicles in their lot were doing it as well. They stated that the unconnect system might have been hacked.
