While in motion the display will freeze, and remain on and frozen even when vehicle is put in reverse, and after the vehicle is turned off, and turned on again. The last screen it was on remains. This has happened on multiple occasions last time was November of 2019, it recently happened in August 2020.
I pulled into my driveway and put the vehicle in park and as I got out it began rolling backwards. I tried to get turned around and back in or grab the emergency brake but the door knocked me down and the Jeep drove backwards about 150feet and hit a tree. 3weeks for repairs and I heard about the Cherokee recall for transmission issues and this seems like what happened to me.
Here are times when I have pulled out (with various people in the car) most recently my 13 year-old-son, who was screaming, "dad what are you doing, we are about to be hit, " and the car has completely shut down. (no interior lights, or running engine) quick thinking saved us from a major disaster. We were almost T-boned last week because of this problem. This would not be the first time for this problem. Problem #3: while driving, I pulled out from my street, a red light or parking lot and the transmission did not engage, the engine revved (without moving) and again, I was almost T-boned. It happened again this morning. Problem #4: there are times when I am traveling up or downhill, the transmission will wind out, the tachometer will spike and then the Jeep makes a knocking noise and then I can continue. You could drive the car for months and then all of a sudden it happens. Problem #5: I was backing into my driveway, the back up camera stopped working and my Jeep completely shut down. This happens on more than one occasion and has no precursor to when it is going to happen.
I backed out of my garage to run an errand, decided to run back into the house for a sweater. Put the car in park (it was still outside the garage facing the open garage door). Hopped out and went to go back into the house with the car door open. The Jeep started rolling forward. I jumped back in, put on the brake, tried to shut the door and it sped forward accelerating. It went through the open garage, it jumped up two stair steps, the tires and wheels crashed through the top step floor, jumped up out of the hole it made, lurched forward and crashed into the house wall and was stuck in between the furnace wall on the right and shelving on the left. The engine was still revving at this point and I cut the engine by pushing the ignition button. I then thought the airbag was going to hit me, but it did not deploy. I decided I needed to get it out of the wall, so I started it and shifted back into reverse, but it wouldn't move. So I shut it off and then started to panic that there might be an explosion as we have gas lines, electrical, etc. There. The front doors were pinned shut. So I jumped in the back and was able to get out through the rear passenger side door. I ran out into our yard as I was afraid something might explode. I have found several other examples of this on your website as complaints, etc. In just a few minutes. There are many more I'm sure and the new 2020 models you have 3 similar complaints already. Do something to hold Jeep accountable. This has been going on since 2009. I had no idea when I bought this Jeep.
Not a safety issue, but a extremely frustrating and widespread issue. Fm radio signal issues. Fm radio cuts in and out. I found a forum with dozens of other owners who had the same issue. Radio works fine for xm/sirius and am. Seeking through fm stations, the radio doesn't find any signals strong enough to stop on. I'm in an area with strong fm stations and have never had issues on other radios in any of my vehicles.

I've had my car in the shop 4 times for well over 85 days and it's still having the same transmission problems. I have very hard shifting with acceleration and deceleration, I have had the vehicle get stuck in first gear while making turns onto streets and I've had it surge forward on me. I've had updates, parts within transmission replaced and a new transmission. I now have been told that they couldn't replicate my issue and when I took it off the lot it did the hard shifting and then it got stuck in first gear while making a turn. This has always occurred in city driving, any weather conditions. I've been told that the hard shifting is normal in all 8 speed transmissions. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. I have had several instances that a wreck has almost occurred due to it not shifting out of 1st gear. I was told that they can't go to Chrysler about a buy back since there is no error code. I guess I'm supposed to put my life/family in harms way.
On multiple occasions, while traveling at varying speeds, the entire dashboard and infotainment system have shut down for anywhere from several seconds to several minutes. The engine has not shut down, but there has been a noticeable lack of power following these events. This has occurred while maneuvering through a parking lot, traveling on a highway, through a downtown city street and on country roads. The events have occurred at varying times of day and during varying weather climates. The initial occurrence was in June 2019 while traveling on the highway. The vehicle has been to the dealership multiple times for service for this issue, yet the problem continues to occur. They have replaced a backup battery to the start/stop, as well as the button, in efforts to locate and solve the problem.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving approximately 30 mph, the contact rear ended another vehicle at a traffic light. As a result, the second vehicle bumped into a third vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact struck her head on the steering wheel and sustained whiplash and a concussion. The contact received medical attention at a later time. A police report was filed. The vehicle was unable to be driven and was towed to an impound lot. The contact called her insurance company where they had the vehicle taken to an unknown dealer for repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 16,155.
At a stoplight I pressed on the brakes and they were too hard to push down as I look to make sure I was in drive which I know I was and I was I was in dr. And they were still too hard to push down so I put it in park put it back and drive it pushed out at first and then chyna kicked me back really hard so I did that one more time and they finally engaged and we're working sunroof track keeps going off problems with bluetooth connection to iphone constantly wheels we are out very very quickly at 17,000 miles can already feel transmission slipping
Transmission thumps, complete loss of power upon acceleration nearly resulting in several mva's. extreme difficulty in getting fuel into the vehicle, constant surges in RPM, dash display goes black, touch screen turns off, goes silent, will not respond, does not recognize key fob and on several instances has allowed me to start and drive vehicle without fob. Mirrors make high pitched whistling noise. Very dangerous vehicle. I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone who values their lives or lives of other drivers on the road. This has all been constant pretty much since we purchased the vehicle new. Dealership has not been helpful. Chrysler is very difficult to deal with. Has happened since we purchased the vehicle new. Very very dangerous
On January 23, 2018, leased a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicle from criswell located at 84 bureau drive, gaithersburg, md 20871. Since that time, I have experienced an extraordinary number of technical and mechanical issues with the vehicle including a major safety concern: 'brakes locking when attempting to start vehicle (I was advised on 7/3/19 by a service advisor at criswell, that this could potentially happen while driving) 'vehicle not starting 'vehicle shutting down at red light 'a faulty drive shaft that was replaced 'rear camera freezing 'dashboard display going blank while driving I fear for my safety and that of my family and request that action be taken on my behalf. Sadly, every time I take my vehicle to the dealership, they cannot duplicate the issues and are, therefore, unable to be of any assistance at all while I continue to experience issues on a weekly basis. Jeep customer care (800-992-1997) assigned a case number and has complete documentation to support my complaint.
I nearly died on 5/8/19 driving my Jeep. I was going about 60mph on the expressway in the far left lane. My sos 🆘 went off on my phone and immediately I lost control of the car and wheels started turn into left and right. There was no more power steering and I had to struggle and force the wheel to the right and left so I wouldn't crash into the divider wall on the left and cars on the right when it would change lanes. This went on for what seemed forever. I reached for my phone that was flashing and pressed the cancel button and shortly after it began to calm down and I began to get some control. I don't understand what happened my phone was not connected to the blue tooth it was sitting on the passenger seat. You have an image that is described as a death wobble that is similar only mine was more profoundly severe. What is this and what causes it? it almost killed me. I could have had my grandchildren in the car with me. I do not want to go in to Jeep an they act like they don't know or can't find the problem. This is a deadly safety problem and I am afraid to drive this car. It is safe and there is no warning sign. Fix it immediately, recall it, exchange it, or refund it.
My 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee has been submitted to the dealership for a faulty sos feature. The sos does not connect to emergency services and does not shut off. The system stays engaged until a fuse is pulled in the battery compartment under the front passenger seat. Multiple submissions and "star tickets" have not produced correction and star tickets cancelled multiple times by the oem. There are service bulletins, but nothing is resolving this. Oem not taking this as a serious safety issue. If something should occur, the vehicle's safety response service will not be able to do anything for occupants of the vehicle. It is very upsetting that the oem has not fixed a software issue and will not allow the dealership to replace the radio with one that actually provides the proper connection to emergency services. This is a defect in the product that the oem has had over 18 months to fix since this vehicle was manufactured.

Several issues but the most serious issue was on 1-25-2019 when I had an appointment and parked forward into a parking space. I was early so I decided to back up into another parking space. There was an open spot right behind me. When I backed up in between two parked cars, my vehicle zoomed out of control, over an island about 7 feet wide and then off the island. I was trying to brake but the vehicle kept going backwards. Finally the vehicle stopped. This occurred in the parking lot of school.. thank god there were no children out on recess. My son came and got me. I was so shaken up. My husband took the vehicle to the dealership. He was told that one of the system on the screen was on and he turned it off. We called the dealership to learn what the system was and was told no one knew anything about this. We requested the owner of the dearlership to contact us but no response to date.
Vehicle was being towed behind 2016 tuscany class a with a blue ox hitch. We made a stop turned left at to bottom of an exit ramp. The vehicle began dipping down and back up violently from right to left, back and forth, throwing to motorhome from side to side. We stopped and checked the tires for flats. We found non and resumed travel. A few miles later this happened again. In all it happened four times if this had happened at higher speed we would likely have been in the ditch. Chrysler claims this is caused by a problem with the electronic steering but since they don't make a hitch plate for this vehicle they are trying to blame it on the hitch this is a known problem with Jeep, since switching to electronic steering. They claim to not have a fix for Grand Cherokee, but do for Cherokee. Meanwhile I am stuck with a vehicle I bought because Jeep said it was towable and now I find it can not be towed without danger to me and my family.
