After driving into condo garage, I put transmission into park, with engine running, and opened door to exit vehicle - car started moving backwards - the surface is flat. I was partway out of the vehicle, hit the brake pedal but could not stop it before the open door impacted a concrete pillar incurring damage preventing door from being subsequently closed. If I had been further out of the car the result could have been far worse. The vehicle behavior was extra alarming because my experience prior was that the transmission tended to bounce back to park when selecting reverse. Also when in reverse - extra effort is required on the gas pedal to make the vehicle move. So here - not only did it seem to be in reverse despite my pushing to park - the vehicle was at idle speed which has previously not been sufficient for movement.

My 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee just accelerated by itself up a sidewalk at a parking lot and ran into the pillar of a building. I then put it in reverse and it accelerated into a car parked beside me. The front axle snapped completely even though the impact was not tremendous. The air bag did not deploy. This vehicle has all kinds of impact sensors and usually brakes on its own even when it senses a leaf from a nearby bush and none of that worked. This happened just yesterday and I'm at a loss as to what to do. I cannot believe my internet search has yielded so many similar stories!

After turning on the ignition and putting car into reverse the reverse light flashes and car will not go into reverse, same for putting into drive. Engine light stays on. This problem only lasts for a few seconds and then the car can go into reverse. I brought it into the dealer they had it for 4 days and could only recreate the problem once. It has happened to me twice prior to bringing it into the dealer. The dealer could not find any electrical or engine issues. I was told to bring it home and when it lasted to longer then to notify them. Very disconcerting!! have to wait until I cannot drive the car!

After having my Jeep brand new from the dealer roughly about two weeks after purchasing the check engine light turned on. We bought our Jeep from autonation in spring, tx. We live in galveston county so when it turned on we took it to autozone for the free code check - the code read was P20E8 and it just said emissions code. No specific readout was available for the code detected. The exact Jeep we own is a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee serling edition ecodiesel. We did notice that the def fluid was not properly filled to the full level upon the purchase so figured it could in relation to that. We drove back up to spring to the dealer and told them the issue and they said ok got us in a rental and then would call us as soon as it was ready. Once we picked it up it we asked what was the cause for the code and the technician said 'oh well it was nothing - just something that we forgot to turn off'. on the way home the check engine light again comes back on the dash. We stop by another Jeep dealer in the way home and inquired with them what they thought it might be and they said 'that whatever the dealership told you cannot be true'. then bill or service or receipt said check engine light P20E8 was found def pump low pressure fault is stored, found tank low with less than 2 inches of fluid in take, found vehicle was not topped off when purchased, added def to tank and cleared codes and verified proper def fluid pressures at injector. The light remains on two days later and now a message pops on my dash and said 'def system problems see dealer'. normally I would not be so upset but this a brand new car the dealer (not mentioned) was not exactly helpful dropping off or receiving the vehicle back with any kind of helpful information. I love my car and just want to make sure it can be properly fixed so I hopefully do not have to worry about my safety or the integrity of my car.

This SUV has the energy efficient shutdown/restart feature. After being stopped at a traffic light, I re-engaged the engine/transmission by lifting my foot off of the brake and began pressing the accelerator. There was very little power to accelerate, you could hear the grinding and pulling of the engine/transmission but only a little power. I put on the emergency hazard lights, looked around the dash for messages and verified that the gear was indeed in drive. I continued to press the accelerator to move the truck out of traffic. I made it to a driveway where I could pull off of the main street and not block the morning rush hour traffic. I put the truck in park, looked at everything again (no warnings or error messages) and put the truck in gear and it moved as it was supposed to do. I made it back to the street, went a short distance (less than 2 blocks), started to go up a small hill and the no power issue happened again. I was less than a block away from my destination, so I S-L-O-w-L-Y made it to the top of the hill. I parked in my office's garage, reported to work and contemplated what to do. I have had this truck since the end of June and it has only 1,100 miles. I will be dropping it off/towing it in to the dealer repair shop tomorrow. This is dangerous and not acceptable Jeep!

My vehicle was purchased brand new 11/2018, when I press the button to start it, 75% of the time it won't start and takes several attempts. Also when I shift into reverse, the R just flashes and the vehicle won't reverse. It won't move until I turn it off and restart it again. These two problems occur frequently.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While waiting at a traffic light, the 'shift into park and select gear" message displayed and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle failed to accelerate afterwards. The contact turned off the engine twice. Upon restarting the vehicle, a gear could not be selected. When the vehicle was restarted a third time, it started normally and was able to shift into the drive gear. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. The dealer (waconia Jeep/Chrysler/Dodge, 905 strong drive waconia, Minnesota 55387) was contacted by phone and an appointment was made to have the vehicle diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 4,056.

I have a few occurrences to tell about. 1. when taking it through a drive through car wash it was propelled forward at an unsafe speed. The vehicle was in neutral but still was shot forward and the brakes had to be applied quickly. This happened twice. 2. after coming off a freeway and coming to the first stoplight, when the speedometer hit 0 the vehicle lurched forward. I turned the auto stop off and proceed down the road. When I hit the next stoplight, it did the same thing, lurched forward hard, when the speedometer hit 0. 3. while getting up to speed, 70, on a freeway, the vehicle seemed to "miss" gears and it lurched a few times. 4. when approaching a turn, at slow a very slow speed, I tapped the gas for a little more speed and it propelled me forward hard and I had to hit the brakes. 5. in the first week of ownership an alert popped up on the center screen indicating the control panel had detected a problem with the catalytic converter system and it was a fire hazard. After taking it to the dealer they told me they could not find this in the computer memory anywhere and there was nothing wrong. At times I feel very unsafe in this vehicle and the whole reason I bought it is to feel safe and secure. Right now the vehicle has less than 1,000 miles on it.
