CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2014 (and 2015) Jeep Grand Cherokee have a serious defect trend of transmission complaints. Most of the complaints are for rough shifting — things like jerking & hesitation when shifting gears.
Acceleration on highway entrance ramps is a problem intermittently. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason for the transmission's hesitation and then seconds later the car takes off like a rocket. It is a dangerous position to be in when you are trying to access the travel lane on an interstate and merge with oncoming traffic, your pressing the accelerator and the car hesitates and finally responds seconds later with rapid and unexpected acceleration.
I bought this Jeep thinking I was going to be as happy as I was with my older Jeeps. NOT- every time I go to pull out in first gear there is a hesitation no matter how hard you press the gas pedal it does not respond immediately. Almost feels like I am pulling a trailer behind me and when it finally does start to move it takes off. Ya think for a 50,000 vehicle it would accelerate properly. Also you can hear a clicking in the trans when shifting from reverse to 1st- HELLO these trannys are junk! Glad I only leased it so it becomes their problem when they get it back!
