Front driver side seat belt stopped retracting. Made it unsafe to drive. The plastic piece that covers the attachment is broken in several places and pinches the seat belt. The entire unit needed to be replaced. This appears to be known issue with Jeep and should part of a safety recall. I was on a parking lot when the seat belt stopped retracting. The cost to fix the problem was $783.42.
The driver's side seat belt suddently would not retract, even while feeding it by hand back into the spool. We found that the slot in the B pillar, through which the seat belt retracts, is cracked. This has caused the seat belt to be pinched. If a small screwdriver is used to pry open the slot, the seat belt retracts. A seat belt not retracting is a serious safety issue and should be a warrantee repair or subject to a recall, neither of which seem to apply.
The upper seat belt plastic guide cracks during routine use, preventing proper retraction of seat belt. The seatbelt remains slack on an occupant resulting in improper fit.
Driver side seatbelt is not rolling up... the seat belt is not adjusting to original position. This creates a safety issue in case there is an accident and the seat belt fail to do its job.

Same as many many others. Front seat belts are failing to retract due to a cracked guide from the shoulder to body of car bend. Took to dealership with a factory warranty remaining on my 2014 jgc limited and was told its not covered..I put 6K miles on it since my vehicle purchase. Current odo 64,441. My daughter cant safely drive my vehicle since the seatbelt is currently a dress with all the extra slack.
Middle rear passenger seat belt does not retract when the belt is released. You have to feed the belt all the way back into the seat and then it is still slightly loose. This is not even covered by an extended warranty either. Since the belt will not retract and tighten correctly I'm afraid to use it until I get it repaired. I have a car seat in the back but we can not use the middle seat belt for our baby until this is fixed.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the front passenger side seat belt failed to retract. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer (summit automotive Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram address: 815 S rolling meadows dr, fond du lac, wi 54937 phone: (920) 921-0850) who stated that the seat belt needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.
My driver's side seatbelt will not come out in order for me to strap it on. It's locked up and will only pull a short way out of the mechanism. The vehicle had been parked at work and would not allow me to put the seatbelt on. I tried different things to see if it would work- started the car and put in gear; turned car off and got out and back in; even tried pulling on it without sitting in the seat - nothing worked
The front passenger seat belt is not retracting and is a safety hazard. Research of the NHTSA's database of complaints show this is not uncommon and is under current investigation.
Drivers side seatbelt suddenly no longer retracting. Appears to be due to a cracked belt guide. Jeep dealership quoted $900+ for repair and another local shop quoted $600+ - repair requires replacement of the entire belt assembly. I've scoured the internet and have found a mass of others who have reported the same issue dating back several years. This should absolutely be an open recall - I cannot legally nor safely operate my vehicle and the replacement cost is astronomical being out of warranty. Help!
Driver side seat belt will not retract. Does not function as should to keep driver safe in event of an accident. Jeep has approx 50,000 miles on it. Vehicle was stationary when issue occurred. Driver parked and removed seat belt. Seat belt would not retract any longer.
The seat belt does not retract back into the plastic seat belt guide. The plastic guide is cracked from normal usage over time. The seat belt will not lock up to help save a person's life if there is an accident. With the seat belt the way it is, it acts more like a lap restraint on a children's amusement park ride. It is alarming that this has not been fixed by Jeep based on how serious of a safety issue this is and how many people I have talked to have the same issue with their Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated the front driver's side seat belt failed to retract and was fractured. The front passenger's side seat belt was also fractured. The vehicle was taken to miami lakes automall (16600 nw 57th ave, miami lakes, fl 33014 (305) 455-3540) where the vehicle was diagnosed and the contact was informed that the front driver and passenger side seat belts need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted however no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
The right front seat belt will not retract properly. The thick plastic guide in door pillar is cracked and pinches against seat belt. It is a safer issue because there it cause too much slack against user's chest.
