I own a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5,7 summit trim, I've been experienced a very scary situation with this car on last 4 months, with no warnings this vehicle completely shuts-off, with no power, no radio, no dash lights. For few times happened on my drive way, but most the times I was on highway running between 45 to 70 mph, its come from the blue. But after the engine stops, it just restart like nothing had happened, no lights on dash no warnings. I left this truck on sandy Sansing dealer ( Milton Florida (850)6236866 like 4 times, they replace few sensors and update software on first time, but day after I was there again, and again and again. Now, they have my car o shop for over 40 days but they can find or replicate de issue, of course to replicate the issue you need to drive the car, and according with then they drove the car for 50 miles with no issues( and of course nobody wants to drive a car that can stops in any minute ). I ask the Dealer if a fuel pump could cause that, they had no clue, but they gave me a price for replace both, so at this point I'm extremely frustrate, cause I've a car with a brand new engine that always was serviced on Jeep Dealer, that I can't use and who has all technical capability is incompetent to fix. I saw lots of cases like mine on internet. I could get someone or my self kill. Any help is deeply appreciate
traveling on S Sterling Street in Morganton, NC on the morning of July 12, 2023. We were going speed limit20 mph on a one way street, then car made rumbling sound and accelerated on its own at approximately 60-70 mph. I put on brakes, but car did not slow down...weaved thru traffic to avoid hitting anyone..could not get car to slow down and unfortunately hit a car in front of us. All persons were taken to hospital..myself, my wife and person in the other car that was impacted. All persons suffered broken bones. Both cars were totaled. Since accident have read up on this type vehicle accelerating on its own. We were lucky no one was killed. This needs to be looked into before it takes a life.
We were driving on the freeway doing about 70mph when without warning the glass sunroof exploded. Not knowing what had happened we pulled over and opened the shade slider and glass rained into the vehicle. Had the shade not been closed, all the passengers would have been hit with flying glass. We did not see anything that would indicate something hit the vehicle; it seemed to just explode for no reason.
Vehicle shifts into neutral when driving down the road and then dies. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes it does it everyday, sometimes it doesn't do it for 6 days. Seems to happen within 3 to 7 miles of driving the vehicle. Took to Jeep dealer to see if they could figure it out. Over a month later and $1000 Jeep dealer replaced the PCM Pin (?) and checked wiring. Picked up the Jeep and 6 days later on way home from work it shifts into neutral going 58 mph down the road and stalls. 30 mins before it would start back up and allow me to drive it. Never any check engine light on, never and noises or chugging, the vehicle does this with no warning and after 5 to 30 minutes will start back up like nothing happened.
I've been experiencing an issue with the brakes on the vehicle not operating properly since 2022. The vehicle does not brake normally, and the brake pedal must be pressed completely down to the floor, or pumped repeatedly before the vehicle begins to slow, and when it does slow, the brakes are less than responsive. There have been several instances where despite allowing extra stopping distance and pressing the brakes all the way to the floor, the vehicle does not stop normally, and I've come dangerously close to being involved in a collision as a result. I've reported these issues to Jeep in the past when the vehicle was there for service, but it was not adequately evaluated. I replaced both front and rear brake pads and rotors, only to have the issue continue. On 6/27/23 when my vehicle was in the body shop for unrelated repairs, the body shop conducted a brake diagnosis and confirmed the stiff break pedal when attempting to brake. They verified the appropriate vacuum at brake booster and vacuum sensor, and disconnected the brake booster sensor and smoke tested the brake booster to find smoke leaking into the main cabin area. They recommended replacing the brake booster assembly with water shed per TSB, and re-checking. They noted that the Vacuum brake booster has failed, and TSB is available in regards to installing water shield with new brake booster, under safety recall T59/NHTSA 17V-572. Once body work was completed, we took the vehicle to Perkins Jeep for the open recalls and requested repair of the brake booster, but were told this isn't a Jeep problem, and that it should have been taken care of at the body shop under insurance-- even though this brake issue was pre-existing to the body damage to the vehicle. Jeep states they do not have the OEM parts to repair this issue and other open recalls at this time, and there is a waiting list.

Vehicle is available for inspection. -??When headrest deployed, it strike me on the back of my head causing uncertainty of what hit me. -??The problem has not been reproduce. -??The component has not been inspected by the manufacture, police, insurance representative, or anybody else. -?? There was no warning, lamps, messages, or any other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.
The hood ltah keeps sticking when we close the hood, it has been greased and still does not work properly. the hood almost flew open on the expressway.
Gear switching to Neutral while driving, stops abruptly, steering locks up, and the vehicle shuts down completely. In order to restart, the battery requires a jump. The battery is fairly new and shows good voltage. 05/29/2023 (UPDATE) The issue was corrected with the installation of a new battery. Although the battery (2.5 years old) was indicating good voltage levels during testing, it would dip below 9v while driving. As explained by the Jeep dealer mechanic, this was causing the vehicle to immediately shut down, lock steering, and abruptly halt. I believe it-??s still a safety issue. If I had been on the freeway, it would have likely created a serious danger to anyone unable to stop, or maneuver, in time.
My jeep has been at the dealership for a year prior to this. On February 21,2023 I gave them a list of a weird smell in my cabin, broken, and missing parts. I was sent an email on the -??March 14, 2023 saying my jeep was fixed and ready I went in on March 17, 2023 to pick up my jeep, from what I could see the broken pieces were repaired. I got in proceeded to drive, after I went maybe 16 miles one way, I had to turn around, there was a weird smell in my cabin. My eyes, and nose started running and my head was feeling weird. I already have COPD. I found the service manager, he went out and got a technician, the tech stuck his head into the jeep and said it was antifreeze. I told him I don-??t know what it is, but I feel weird. They proceeded to lift the hood and there was black smoke, the tech said the -??PVC-?? hose was disconnected. I didn-??t know what that was, I left the jeep there. I didn-??t feel well throughout the weekend, went to my Dr. Monday March 20, 2023. I had a very bad headache, short of breath, nausea, just feeling really bad and run down. I was told it was possible carbon monoxide poisoning, especially since that PVC hose not connected would distribute exhaust into the cabin. I was then taken back to the emergency room on Sunday March 26, 2023, I couldn-??t stop vomiting, stomach hurt so bad and headache. I reached out to the dealership, and informed them what happened. They never replied back. I need help please, I-??m a disabled U.S. Air Force retired veteran with COPD and other medical conditions. This situation is unacceptable. I-??ve tried to get a meeting with the owners, on several occasions. Since they had my engine taken apart and just sitting out back of their dealership for months. I want the engine replaced completely, or they can send my jeep to another dealership to make sure the engine is complete and fixed. This could have killed me!
While stopped at a drive-through with my foot on my break, my head rest exploded, forcing my head forward. There was no accident and it deployed at random. The passive restraint system failed. Had vehicle been in motion it would-??ve been a public safety risk. Appointment at the service center of the dealership has been made. It has not yet been inspected.
In reference to recall W79/20V-699, to date I have attempted on four (4) occasions to have the recall addressed by my dealership, Gettel Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Punta Gorda, Florida without success. I have even contacted corporate about the problem to no avail. Is there anything you can do to force them to follow through on the recall repair?
First issue is that I had to replace the Uconnect system this year. It had been on the fritz for some time and updates could not be made to the old system. It would constantly go black. Second issue 2017-$30,000 Miles is that the Replaced steering rack and pinion and align 600 suspension and chassis 4778. Replaced the Leaking Rack and Pinion and passenger front caliper due to sticking bleeder valve 300 bakes. 11/2017 Evaporative System SEAL canister. 2018 Power Brake Booster/vacuum leak and braking issue. Replaced Radio. $1200 ish. Drove car 2/21 50,221 - 10/2022 53,000. October 2022 daughter driving car, gear slipping and engine light comes on and pulls over car not shifting at all into gear. Towed to Jeep where NEEDS NEW TRANSMISSION plus at 53,000 miles!!! $15,00 plus quoted at JEEP.
My son started the Jeep Monday morning and the engine light came on which has never happened before. Then something occurred under the hood and there was a fire. Luckily my son was able to get to a garden hose and put out the fire but now I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has fire damage and needs to be taken into a Jeep dealership for repairs. I have only had the vehicle for a little over 2 years.
