CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Grand Cherokee hasn't seen the same complaint volume as the 2011, at least not yet.

It's worth noting both model years are part of a class-action lawsuit that focuses on a defective TIPM and a long wait for replacement parts.

The 2012 also received national attention after it failed a Swedish Magazine's "moose test". The test measures a vehicle's ability to swerve out of the way of an obstacle you wouldn't want to hit while driving down the road ... like a moose.

Jeep sent a recall notice without having a solution on hand. It has been 10 months since the recall. Fuel pump relay failure can cause major accidents. My vehicle has had check engine light spontaneously come on. I took it to Jeep dealership for a fix and they refuse to do anything about it. I have a small child in the SUV most of the time and I am concerned for the safety of the child. Jeep is not willing to work with me on a solution to either fix the vehicle or supply a temporary replacement until my vehicle is fixed. Please help!

At approximately 120K miles I began to notice a slight tick coming from the driver side of the motor. Over the next 5K miles I changed the oil several times, swapped plugs, coil packs and injectors to rule out any potential issues. I also did a visual inspection of the exhaust manifolds. The problem persisted and got worse. There was also a consistent hesitation under medium to heavy throttle input. I'm now at 126K miles and had a check engine light - P0303 for cylinder 3 misfire. I have started disassembling the motor and noticed the lifter has seized and started destroying the camshaft.

In 2019 my engine light went on with code P0520 - oil pressure sensor. I replaced the oil pressure sensor and the engine light came back on a month later with the same code P0520, so I replaced the oil pressure sensor for a second time. Less than a month later I began getting a generic code P06dd. I have sense replaced the oil pressure sensor a 3rd time along with the oil filter housing and oil pump. It was fine for about a week but then code P0520 - oil pressure sensor returned. There issue is not mechanical and no one has been mechanical as all of the parts associated with the code have been replaced repeatedly. Nobody is able to resolve it and I cannot pass inspection until they do.

The engine stalled completely while I was at a traffic signal, preparing to make a turn onto a busy highway. Loss of power to brakes & steering since the engine completely shut down. I shifted the vehicle into park, started the engine again, shifted into drive but the vehicle would not move. Eventually (in a matter of seconds) the vehicle lunged forward and I was able to safely drive home.

This is my third time experiencing this system failure. Each time while driving and the vehicle in motion, the truck shuts off. Each time this has almost caused an accident as I was turning onto a street. The first time it shut off in the middle of driving was as I easy slowing down to stop at a red light and lost all controls as the vehicle died. I did not accidentally touch anything. This is extremely dangerous and something needs to be done bout it asap. It turns off unwarranted while driving. I have to put the vehicle in park and press the start button to turn the vehicle back on. I do not know what part is causing this problem. It happens out of nowhere occasionally and not everyday either.

The Jeep has stalled several times. It has happened more than a few times. Usually happens when coming to a stop at light/stop sign. However the scariest time was when the engine unexpectedly turned off while driving about 45-50 mph on street. Wife able to bring the Jeep to a complete stop and restart. Took to dealership and were told Chrysler is aware of issue. There is going to be a recall as soon they have a fix.

Vehicle has no diagnostic codes showing up but has stalled on us several times almost causing accident twice now. Also pulsates at speeds around 45 and again at 60mph. Since the last stall it now has a very rough idle. We have called dealership about recall and they state yes there is one but they do not have a fix. Are we supposed to just keep driving with these safety issues ? vehicle will stall while after driving coming to a stop at light. We lose steering ability and braking. We are usually going straight and on city street or coming off freeway
