When I drive my car and I start to brake at in the speed range of 20mph to 65mph, my brake pedal starts to vibrate and my steering wheel starts to shake uncontrollably, I have to start pumping the brakes for the steering wheel to become nearly moderately controllable. I have been reading online that many people with the same year Jeep Grand Cherokee have been having the same problem. Even with earlier models. Why hasn't there been a recall on this yet, there is something obviously wrong with the brake or steering system.

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee/4D 4X2. Vehicle has pulled to the right since purchase. Have had alignments, toe setting to manuf. Specs. Both outer tie rod ends busted, had replaced, and alignment. This vehicle is unsafe to drive and the 6/60 maximum care plan has ended. The vehicle has 40,586 miles on it. I wrote and asked daimlerchyrysler to fix it. They never did respond. I do not know if it is a steering drift problem, all I know is that no one has been able to fix this unsafe pulling to the right.

I own a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2004--the problem I am having is with the steering. It is very hard to steer to the right the wheel locks and I cannot turn. I took the Jeep to hayes Chrysler Dodge Jeep and was told I needed a power steering pump and pressure line and a power steering gear box. The total quote is $1601--I could not afford that so I took it to midas and they advised me there was a recall on this part and Jeep should replace the part free of charge. I pulled the recall notice and it does state to take the vehicle to the dealer and it would be replaced. I was told by the dealer and also Chrysler that my vn # was not on the recall list....I am very upset because my vehicle is doing the same thing as stated in the recall but since my VIN number is not listed they cannot do anything. Please advise me what ic an do at this point. When I first purchased the vehicle I took it back the same month and told them something was wrong with the steering I do have documentation. I also took it back a 2nd time and they told me they could not find anything.

There is a problem in the power steering. It is very difficult to turn left. There has been a recall on the steering box on some Jeep Cherokee but this does not include mine. This is a safety problem. It is in the steering gear box -improperly formed spacer clip. I feel that there should be a recall for this problem on my Jeep also.

The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the ABS would not lock or "grip" as quickly as it should. The failure caused difficulty when braking. She also noticed that there was a "gliding" effect when driving 40 mph and attempting to brake. Furthermore, she experienced difficulty turning the steering wheel. As a result, she made wide turns due to the amount of effort she had to put into turning the wheel. She took the vehicle to the dealer and they checked the brakes. The dealer changed the brake pads and stated that everything was fine. The second time the contact took the vehicle to the dealer for the ABS failure she was informed again that everything was fine. The vehicle has not been inspected for the steering failure. The current mileage was approximately 43,000 and failure mileage was approximately 20.

I am having a problem with the steering, brakes, and the heat vent. When turning left or right, it makes this awful noise. When applying the brakes, the steering wheel and the front end begins to shake. I took the vehicle to get the brakes changed and they said the pads look fine. When I had the heater on, it was blowing cold air on the passenger side.

: the contact stated while driving various speeds, there was a clicking noise coming from the steering wheel. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer, who determined the steering wheel was loose along the column and needed to be tightened. After the initial tightening of the steering wheel, a loud, popping noise was heard while driving various speeds. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who determined the tilt wheel knob needed to be replaced. Afterwards, the problem persisted, and the dealer determined the steering wheel needed to be tightened again, and due to the looseness it caused the front driver side airbag to fail which would also needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was alerted. Updated 01/10/07.

Have a whistling noise in steering and dealer have tried 6 times to fix including replacing steering box. Now vehicle makes whistling noise and a knocking noise in the steering area. 3 of 6 dealers say that it cant be repaired and that it is not normal but cant get Chrysler to respond. This is a lease vehicle and I want out of vehicle but have to have transportation due to my job. I am afraid something will happen to the steering one day while traveling. The vehicle has been into the dealer(s) 25 times and out of service at least 45+ days. They have replaced power steering pump 2xs, L windshield, sealed another windshield, drained power steering lines twice and replaced steering box. I leased vehicle in 9/04, with first repair attempt in 10/04 and have over 25 times in shop since last 2 years. Help me get out of this lease vehicle?

Vehicle lurches to the right, dealership replaced all rims and tires, thus making the problem slightly better. Mechanic said it was a "design flaw" nothing could be done about it and to call the service manager, the service manager said "all vehicles in Colorado drift to the right due to road crowns". my jgc still drifts to the right within 5-10 seconds on all types of roads. I bought this vehicle two weeks ago, it has 800+ miles on it.

The ability for steering control of the vehicle, most notably at highway speeds, is very difficult. The vehicle appears to have a gap of sloppy space in the steering. After driving multiple new 2004 Grand Cherokee I have discovered that this is a common problem, although the degree of gap or sloppiness varies by vehicle.
