While driving the vehicle experienced a power loss except for the electrical system. I was unable to control my speed and lost power steering. After 5 seconds, while coasting to a stop, the vehicle resumed full power. Since the first occurrence, it has become more frequent (up to twice a week). In addition, the vehicle will not start randomly and requires a few minutes wait time before a successful start.

Engine light keeps coming on all codes are checked, repaired, replaced. PCM has been replaced twice and was told that it is in need of replacement again! could there be an internal problem with the computer system?
I have a 2004 Grand Cherokee. Several months ago, I started to have stalling issues. Hot or cold, dry or wet, first drive of the day or last, it didn't matter. The engine would cut out in the middle of driving regardless of speed. I had to put it in neutral, recrank it and put it back in drive just to avoid accidents, otherwise it drifts out of control. At first I thought this was an isolated incident but now it happens almost everyday. It's dangerous but I have no choice to drive to get to work and from the internet a lot of other Jeep users have the same issue. Why no recall on this issue? obviously there is a defect.
On April 14 20014 the vehicle mentioned stalled out on my girlfriend driving down the road.she was able to start it back up.on 4-16-14 it stalled on her again while driving she was able to get it started.on the 18 it stalled in a parking lot at lunch but got it started and again in the middle of an intersection after work and had to have it towed home. We just bought it March 11 so I contacted the dealer and are supposed to speak to him on Monday. On 4-20-14 I was with her and it stalled out on her 3 times during our travels of approximately 30 miles. When this happens all power to control the vehicle safely is lost.
Driving interstate 95 doing posted speed limit smoke is seen from rear view mirror back of vehicle no indicator engine lights reported any trouble all engine gauges were showing normal stopped vehicle under front of hood drivers side smoke lifted hood flames started spread so fast Jeep was totaled in fire melting tires frame my son was lucky to get out in time. Police said you got out of that, most of the fires I've come across passengers were not that lucky. I wish I could know the reason why? so this does not happen to someone else who might not be this lucky to walk away from the vehicle.

Car started stalling when driving on freeway and engine shut down. This is extremely dangerous. My garage tried all kind of solutions without success as there are no codes showing. There are numerous posting of same incidents on the Jeep forums on the internet. I called the hotline of the NHTSA and spoke to a lady who advised me she had the same problem and got rid of the car immediately!
I own a 2004 Jeep Cherokee which has an electrical issue where the power windows, door locks and everything on the drivers side door control panel do not work as well as the interior lights do not turn off, all causing a safety issue.I found out this is a known issue with Jeep Cherokee due to the wiring inside the front drivers side door. I had this issue in 2009 after at about 46,000 miles. When calling the dealership I was told that this is a known issue and the dealership give me an exact price over the phone as they knew of this issue. Since the dealership was very rude and price was very high.I had the repairs done at a highly regarded repair shop which specializes in electrical work which cost $201 but now (at 80,000 miles) the exact same issue has happened again due to the opening and closing of the front drivers side door. The wiring harness is located on the driver's side door, but the harness is too small to sustain all of the wires. When the door is opened, the wires come out of the harness and break, which causes everything on the drivers side door panel not to work. This includes the power windows, door locks, interior lights and power mirrors all of which cause a safety hazard. I believe that this should be a recall for Jeep that they should fix free of charge especially since this is a known issue. I feel that it's very reckless of Jeep to not recall this known safety issue and allow their customers to drive with windows and door locks that to not work or interior lights that do not turn off. In order to turn off the interior lights I had to remove the fuse which can be very dangerous at night and makes it very difficult see any of the instruments. This car is used by my handicapped wife and due to this issue I will not let her drive at night as I feel this car is very unsafe in it's current state....video available
The two rear bolts that attach the left exhaust manifold have sheared off causing a significant exhaust leak and poor engine performance while engine is cold. Based upon internet research this appears to be a common issue on 4.7L V8 engines.
