I purchased a Jeep Grand Cherokee brand new in the year of 2000. I've had nothing but problems with the heating of the vehicle. October of 2005 no heat on the passenger side. January 23,2007 the same problem and now again February 22, 2008 now it's the thermostat needed to be replaced. I'm wounding if this is a recall issue. Also my recent recall about the electric radiator fan, I paid out of pocket $836.90 to replaced my radiator fan August 2, 2006. I think I should be reimbursed for that expensed because it was recalled after the fact.
2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee ran hot and shut off. Consumer stated that her daughter had to leave the vehicle on the side of the highway at 3 am because it ran hot and cut off. The water pump, thermostat, cooling fan and radiator has been replaced on more than one occasion. The consumer received a recall notice regarding a defect with the radiator cooling fan which could cause the vehicle to overheat. However, after the recall was performed, the consumer continued to experience problems with the vehicle. The crankshaft position sensor was replaced and the left rear tail lamp was inoperative.

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0L. Radiator fan came apart damaging radiator & shroud. Replaced fan & radiator. In 2007 Chrysler had a recall for this problem but said my vehicle wasn't in the recall due to date of manufacture. Since this failure is identical to the failure that initiated the recall, Jeep should reimburse me for my loss.
I have a 2000 Grand Cherokee Jeep limited that I purchased new. It was fairly ok until 2003 at about 60K miles. That's when the radiator starting leaking. It was replaced in 2003 and annually thereafter (5 replacements) with the last one in March 2007. Additionally, I have had several water pumps plus replacing the heater core. The dealer says they can't find the cause for the radiators to continue to breakdown every year with less than 10K and under 12 months each time. I believe the Jeep has an inherent flaw in the cooling system design. Chrysler continues to ignore the problem and will not pay for any future radiators which almost assuredly will breakdown again in the near future.
The engine simply stops without warning. I had taken it to dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong. Four days later while driving to the dealer it died on a 6 lane street. I was in our other vehicle and towed it to the dealer myself. It has been 6 days and I have not heard from them.
Driving with my daughters to the beach when suddenly my steering wheel froze as I was along a winding road. Towed truck to a mechanic who diagnosed that the gear box was broken at that point he repaired the gear box. Approximately 1 week later the same exact thing except that the truck caught fire, again towed the truck back to mechanic who replaced the gear box. I thought I was going to die when I experienced my steering wheel freeze and the fire was extinguished quickly so minimal damage was suffered. In 1 year that I own this vehicle the radiator has also needed to be repaired, the locks on my driver door stopped working, the fan in the cooling system has stopped working, I have been told that the muffler was improperly installed. I never expected so many faults or so much money spent in repairs on a so called certified used vehicle.
The vehicle cut off while the consumer was driving. Consumer took the vehicle to the dealer where no defects were found, and the problem could not be duplicated.
I bought this vehicle less than 4 months ago and it began leaking antifreeze within the first month. I brought it to crest Lincoln where I bought it for an oil change and asked them to look at why the antifreeze was leaking. They informed me that due to the car being 3 weeks over the warranty, if something was indeed wrong they could not help me unless I paid out of pocket charges. I then brought the car to a repair shop and they told me that it could be the thermostat. This did not solve the problem even though the car was not over heating. The problem: The car is still leaking in more than one place. Today it was a continual leak. I called the dealer and I called Chrysler and they will not repair the vehicle at their own cost. The engine is possibly cracked but they will charge me $400 to do the diagnostic and I will not only have to pay out of pocket for that but also the total cost of the repair until I can settle this with Chrysler or the dealer. This price was estimated around $6000. The car is only 3 years old with less than 36,000 miles on it.
Bought 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee new. Now has 57000 miles on it. Two main problems now exist: 1. I had to have brakes replaced after 25000 miles. They now need replaced again. Extreme vehicle shaking and vibration thru the steering wheel. Appears to be common prob experienced by many based on the volume of complaints I am seeing. Dealer will not assist. Chrysler rep will not assist. 2. experienced low oil pressure reading. Took car in for analysis and they tell me engine needs replaced. Gunk buildup in engine they say is cause of problem. Oil has been changed regularly. I cannot prove record of all oil changes, but it has been changed at reputable service centers. Engine $5600. Chrysler district unwilling to assist. I am frustrated at their lack of communication, attitudes, and lack of quality in this vehicle. They try to make you feel like a common criminal and are unwilling to stand behind their product. This vehicle cost about $35,000 and it is far from being worth the value.
I purchased my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee in 1999. I have been in and out of the dealer service for repeat major problems. My tire squeaked loudly while driving and after a year of not finding the problem, and fixing what they thought was the problem the left front wheel bearing was replaced and solved that problem. During the problem with the squeak they informed me that the transfer case had a problem and the solution was to drain and refill the 4WD transfer case fluid, I had them complete the service. Also during my cargo door would not open neither would the window, they replaced the latch lift. The next problem was that I was noticing smoke coming from underneath my hood. I brought that to their attention and they notice a fluid leak and had to replace my cylinder head gasket. The smoke was still there after that effort and now my transmission has went out. I need an overhaul transmission that will cost $1800 because now it's out of warranty. When I called the dealership they made it seem as if I did not take care of my vehicle. When my Jeep needs servicing I always went to the dealership (5 star) so they can help me take care of my investment. Any needed repair that was requested I had done. My Jeep only has 57,000 miles on it. The crysler company has most definitely lost a customer.
