Brake rotors warping. I have had the rotor turn and even replaced and yet the rotors seem to warp. Braking is often light never ever under emergency conditions.
I own a 1999 Grand Cherokee limited Jeep. The front rotor disk has warped due to the heat created when applying the brakes. As a result the steering wheel vibrates violently on the application of the brakes. The rotor & calipers have been changed! when will Chrysler help to resolve an issue, which is obviously a manufacturing fault?

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee brake problems. Rotors on the Jeep have been turned and replaced. Jeep has only 20,000 (twenty thousand) miles. Jeep front end shutters violently and brake pedal pulsates when applying brakes. Dealer said this is normal on Jeep Grand Cherokee and will no longer replace rotors. He recommended I downshift to stop (automatic transmission)

The dealer replaced the front rotors, calipers and pads, which corrected the problem for a short time. The vehicle has been to the dealer for this problem several times to have the rotors turned or replaced. The average time between failures is about 6000 miles. In 2004 the contact took the vehicle to another dealer who replaced the rotors. Again, the problem has reoccurred and the dealer determined that both the front and rear rotors needed to be replaced.

The contact felt the dealer did his best to try to correct the problem.

The contact stated the brakes pulsated when applied, and the steering vibrated. He had the same problem two years ago and the brakes were replaced. The problem recurred, and no repairs have been done. The contact felt vibration caused damage to the steering column.
The contact stated the rotors were continually warping. The rotors have been changed three times. The contact to the vehicle to local mechanic for service. When the rotors warped the vehicle vibrated while driving. This has been an ongoing problem for the past two years. The manufacturer has not been contacted.
1999 defective Chrysler grand Jeep Cherokee.** answer required***. the consumer experienced repeated problems with the rotors, pads and calipers. The consumer has experienced hard vibration not only in the front end of the vehicle, but the steering wheel, floor, seat and instrument panel. The vibration was so severe the consumer would lose control of the steering wheel. The rotors would heat up, the caliper froze. The intermediate shaft was replaced, the rear latch was lubricated due to squeaking. The battery was replaced because the consumer had a hard time starting the vehicle.
The brake rotors and pads keep wearing out, and the vehicle makes a chatter noise and vibrates when the brakes are applied. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealership and the brakes were replaced six times. The problem started on August 21, 2000. The replace brakes wore out at six to seven thousand miles. The dealership replaced the front rotors, the pads, the front calipers, installed a technical service bulletin ( tsb) kit, resurfaced the front rotors, rear brakes pads, and rear rotors; each of these have been done multiply times. There have been no accidents as of yet.
1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle has 48,677 miles currently. At 14,754 miles they resurfaced the front brake rotors and replaced the pads, this was on October 18, 2000. Then on July 15, 2002, at 28,186 miles the front brake rotors had to be replaced and the pads. On May 3, 2004 at 42,123 miles, the rotors had to be resurfaced and replace the pads. On Monday, July 11, 2005 at 48,502 miles the vehicle was taken in for a lube job and the consumer asked to have the brakes checked because he felt pulsation in the brake. She was told the rotors need to be replaced again and new pads would be needed. The dealership states the brakes are not covered under the warranty because they are considered wear and tear items and only covered for 12 months or 12,000 miles. After speaking with the district service manager, she was reimbursed, $211, for the work done on May 3, 2004. According to the service department, this model is having problems with the front brake system. It is due to the fact that they are no longer made of asbestos. When she called the manufacturer, all they did was read the warranty to him. There was a vibration under the vehicle, pulsation from the brakes, a leaking transfer case, rear differential leak, vibration in the front end, a slight brake pulsation, regular pulsation from the brakes, grinding sound rear end, and radiator leaking.
Consumer complained about front brake problems. The front brakes shimmied and pulsated excessively. At times, the consumer feels like he is going to lose control of the car because of the shimmy. Dealer stated the rotors were warped. There are 69,000 miles on the vehicle. Consumer has been having this problem since 7. the problem occurred approximately 10,000 miles after rotors have been replaced or machined.
In 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee, brakes get a heavy pulsation due to apparently warped rotors. Dealer resurfaced, turned rotors on three previous occasions, but problem returns about 8-10,000 miles later probably due to use of same faulty parts. Car now has 103K miles and dealer won't try to fix again. When stopping, car shakes at an unsafe level.
We purchased this vehicle Aug 2001. By April 23 02 rotors were warped and needed turned. (36617 miles) front and rear brake pads again replaced 43734 miles. Davis-moore replaced the rotors June 2 05 with 68278 miles. This means that every 16000 miles the brakes need replaced?
1999 (and more years) Jeep Grand Cherokee, severe brake problem. Causing extremely violent shaking of the steering wheel at speeds over 40mph. Every few thousand miles, the brakes (rotors, pads etc) need to be replaced. Chrysler/Jeep replaces the brakes under warranty as many times as needed. However, once warranty is up, (3/36) they refuse to acknowledge it and the consumer picks up the bill now. Chrylser has admitted to it being a problem ( ref. Tsb's: #050599 06/18/99 "match mounting brake rotors" #0500302B 12/16/02 "front brake pulsation during light to moderate brake application") and there either needs to be a permanent fix or stand behind their defective vehicles and pay for the brakes having to be done every few thousand miles. I have had my brakes replaced 5 (five) times and I have under 47,000 miles on my Jeep.
I purchased this Jeep used with around 25K miles on it. After bout 1 year of driving my rotors started to vibrate when brake applied. After a couple days of this my drivers side brake caliper locked up while my family and I were out for a ride. I pulled over to see my rotor glowing red, I left the vehicle parked there over night replaced rotor, pads, and a new caliper. Within 2 months same thing occurred with the passenger side, so I fixed that side. Since the original problem I've replaced both rotors 3 times and pads 4 times in less than 8 months. Dealer says there is nothing wrong with brake system, I disagree. After researching this on the internet I see that a lot of owners have the exact same problem. I can not see how a manufacturer can get away with these kind of problems. I know that if the company I work for had built and sold faulty products we would be sued and out of business. Why is this company allowed to get away with these obvious malfunctions of one of the key components in safety on a car, the brakes. Thanks for any and all help.
When applying the brakes from 35-40 mph the vehicle would severely shake/vibrate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer replaced the front rotors and pads.
