At 8000 miles, brakes were pulsating badly. Dealer turned rotors "as a courtesy" without addressing the underlying problem. Now, at 19000 miles, I am having to replace all four brakes in their entirety; rotors, calipers, pistons, etc. Local brake shop says Chrysler uses plastic sleeves in their pistons instead of metal. This causes overheating and warping of piston which results in warping of rotors. This repair will be approximately $1000. Local brake shop says this is a design flaw on Chrysler's part. Would appreciate investigation of this problem. Not only is it expensive, but my brakes were shot....emergency stopping very much in question. Thank you.
While traveling over 60mph vehicle shimmies and shakes. Rotors have been turned and replaced several times. The consumer considers the vehicle to be a lemon. The vehicle had been eight times to dealership and was out of service for repairs for 13 calendar days. The problems were window motor failure. Bad brake rotors occured five times. Noise in the rear of the vehicle due to bearings failure. The vehicle vibrates when brakes are applied.
Premature wear of brake rotors, causing vehicle to vibrate when brakes were applied. Dealer has repaired/replaced rotors five times, and problem continues to reoccur. Manufacturer has been notified.
Since I've had this vehicle the rotors have been replaced twice, resurfaced twice, and the dealer can still not fix the problem. The warping of the rotors sends a pulsation through the steering system causing the steering wheel to shimmy left and right. The car only has 32,000 miles. I do not ride the brakes, in fact I sold my last car with 75K miles on the original rotors with a pad replacement at about 60K miles. The dealer and the factory will not tell me why the rotors continue to warp and they just keep replacing them, that is until now. They are now starting to charge me for the repair even though it is under the 36,000 mile warranty period. It's absurd, I checked your web site and there are numerous complaints about this defect. I can't imagine anything more unsafe than a defect which degrades braking and steering. I strongly recommend you get after them to find a permanent fix to this blatantly obvious safety defect. Vehicle has had rotors replaced 3 times. Last time 5 weeks ago. Vehicle is at dealers at this time for another rotor replacement. When consumer applies brakes, vehicle jerks, and steering wheel shakes.
The front brake rotors have severly prematurely warped twice on this vehicle causing the severe handling problems while trying to come to a stop. I was out of town at the time of the first incident and put the vehicle in the shop myself. The front rotors were resurfaced to aleviate the problem. Ten thousand miles later the same thing occurs again causing severe handling problems when braking. This time the vehicle was carried to the dealer for repairs. The dealer resurfaced the rotors again which seemed to have solved the problem for the time being. This seems to be a recurring and dangerous problem for this vehicle. The dealer will not replace the rotors, only resurface them. It appears that the dealer should replace the rotors, at his expense, with high quality rotors to aleviate the problem entirely. Brake rotors can only be resurfaced a number of times to solve this problem. I have reviewed the information on your web site and you seem to have quite a few complaints about this same problem with other Jeep owners. Obviously, this is a defect of the manufacturer and should be a recall situation. Thanks for your help with this matter and I will be looking forward to hearing from you.
There was hard pulsation when brakes were applied at speeds of 55mph and higher. Dealer inspected vehicle and determined that brake rotors were warped. Problem has reoccurred after about 3000 miles.
While driving could step on brake pedal and steering wheel will shake. Brake rotors had to be replaced three times already. All shock absorbers need replacement at 23,000 miles.
On two occasions the vehicle developed severe vibration in the front end when braking, it was determined that the rotor on the front wheel was warped and were replaced. Nlm
While traveling at higway speed of 50 mph consumer started to brake and noticed steering wheel shaking, and vehicle started to vibrate. No accident or injuries have occurred. Vehicle has experienced pulling to one side while braking. Consumer stated that about every 7ooo miles rotors needed to be replaced.
Rotors have been replaced three times this year, April, August and December. Each time brakes started pulsating. Second incident the brakes actually started seizing up while driving on highway. When the vehicle was stopped and turned off, the brake lights were still on, indicating that the brakes were still engaged. Dealer never questions replacing rotors each time and each time they are under warranty and at no cost to consumer. I worry about the safety factor of will these brakes be at peak efficiency when I really need them.
Brakes are in being repaired for the 3rd time, they insist it's my driving habits not a problem, they shimmy and vibrate at low and high speeds.I have the rotors replaced and ground twice now. The car pulls to the right also.
I have had to replace my rotors 3 times in 2 years on my Jeep, Grand Cherokee. There is a pulsating effect when I attempt to stop.. I feel that this a very severe saftey problem and I think that Chrysler should own up to there problems with the rotors and have an across the board recall or they could end up in the same boat as Firestone / Ford. I fear for the saftey of the occupants of mine and other peoples vehicles when they are force to drive a Jeep with faulty rotors and braking systems. Must someone die before something is done"?" I think that a recall should start now. I should not have to pay for something that is a major saftey problem. Chrysler is making us pay because they say that the vehicle has over 12000 miles on it. This is a travesty of justice.
Front and back disc brake rotors warped twice within 22,000 miles. Dealer will replace or resurface with same parts, so defect will occur again. Manufacturer was not developing a solution for rotors not to fail prematurely.
Front end shimmy, brake pedal pulsation while slowing. Dealer claims driver habits warped rotors. Current tsb recognizes problem. On wheel turning of rotor and retrofit kit for caliper to pull pads off rotor to allow cooling. Had to fight with dealer to get any type of service without paying.
Rotors fade fast. Very loud noise coming from brakes at 22,000 miles, the sound of metal against metal. Brakes replaced, noise stopped for 2 or 3 weeks and now continues. I see that they had a recall for a problem like this for the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee, but I missed the recall by one year and I believe that my vehicle should be included in the recall.
