I had a pulsation/roughness when braking. The front rotors were found to have two to four 1/2 to 1 inch cracks coming from the center hub holes. If these cracks went undetected, it would of caused a serious accident. The dealership and DaimlerChrysler are stating the reason why I'm having the problems is because of my first brake job, done only about 10,000 miles ago. They said that non-mopar pads (wagner) were used. My mechanic checked the pads, which are still like new, and found nothing wrong. I have had 5 Cherokee to date and my mechanic has always used wagner and has had no problems. In doing research on 1999 jgc rotors, there have been many complaints on these rotors. Even in pass years they have had recalls for rotors on jgc. There was a recall for rotors on 96-98 jgc, vehicles made 7/95-10/98. My 1999 jgc was manufactured in 11/98, which is only one month different from the recall. Couid these be the same rotors? it has been even noted on tsb with 1999 Jeep that there have been brake/rotor problems. I think there should be a recall on these rotors because of the safety issue and the many noted complaints that have been received. I think they are using inferior metal for these rotors.

Rotors need replaced again. They say its my driving habits. Rotors should not have to be replaced at 12,000 mile incriments at owners expense. There has to be a problem with the way the vehicle was built. I have owned other cars and never replaced my rotors. The rotors were replaced in January 2000 at 12,500 mile. The dealership in Michigan replaced at no cost to me. Now that I am in Oklahoma, it is doing the same thing and eddie cordes dealership said I am the cause for the need of replacement. I do not think rotors should need replacement in only nine months from previouse replacement. Chrysler corporation told me to have them look at it again but most likley I will have to pay for them because brake and rotor warranties are only good for 12,000 mile or 1 year from purchase. Please investigate!

Extreme vibration when braking at 45+ mph. Rotors resurfaced 2 times. Recall for similar problem for '97-98 Jeep. Dealership & damilerchrysler refuse to admit there is a problem despite tsb. Jeep/Chrysler is not responsive to the problems with these vehicles. The brakes are dangerous and cause so much vibration in the brake pedal and steering wheel that driver control is adversely affected.

Rotors have warped on this vehicle 5 times previously. The most recent time in June of 2000 with 28787 miles. It is now August of 2000 with 32,000 miles and they are warped again. Dealer advises that theya re not willing to do anything because "nothing is wrong with them". based on the information in the nhsta database this is a widespread problem that Chrysler is failing to correct. There is the possibility of brake failure leading to damage, injury or death.

Brake rotors became warped to the point the vehicle bounced when braking. Dealer declined to replace rotors, how ever agreed to machine them per tsb. Dealer service confirmed this was a proplem on some 1999jeeps. My concern is, although they did the work under warranty, I will have to replace the rotors sometime in the future, because they did not.

Been to the dealer 6 times for the brakes. When braking from 60 mph+, the truck shakes violently. Repairs last 3,000 miles, then it returns. I have filed a complaint with DaimlerChrysler. I will file a law suit if this truck is not replaced, it seems very dangerous.

Grand Cherokee

Vehicle exhibits a dangerous level of side to side shudder as well as a non-linear deceleration which may result in whiplash when evenly applying brake pressure. The description of the problem in Jeep tsb 05-03-98, "minor brake pulsation" is a gross understatement. The level of shudder may result in loss of vehicle control, especially when decelerating from highway speeds.

Brake rotors became warped. This causes a very severe shimmy with the steering wheel and diffucult to control. This has happened 3 times. 1st time rotors turned(approx 5600miles), 2nd time rotors replaced(approx. 13000miles) returning to dealer for them to fix the brakes for the 3rd time(19200miles).
