Vechile in park jumped into reverse ran over me.

Vehicle was left in driveway in park with engine running. While owner was inside the house, vehicle slipped into reverse (in 4 wheel drive). Steering wheel was left in a turned configuration, so vehicle did nearly a 360 degree turn in reverse and impacted a tree and owner's home causing damage to vehicle in multiple locations.

The vehicle jumped out of park into gear and pinned myself and our 4 yr. Old daughter between two vehicles. When my husband called and spoke with a Jeep engineer, they denied any other incidents of this nature happening. I can obatin police reports and hospital bills to confirm the accident. Also the person who had to back the vehicle to unpin us states the vehicle was in park!! this is a life safety issue.

When parked on an incline/engine low overnight, transmission does not engage when shifting from park to drive. If the driver depresses the accelerator, a hard engagement into drive may occur with a sudden and unexpected jump forward of the vehicle. This cause of this problem could not be identified by the dealer. The owner of the vehicle insisted upon complete replacement of the transmission. Dealer has agreed to replace the transmission after the vehicle had been out of service for 30 days.

At 40000 miles vehicle was at a stop in park, consumer then put vehicle in reverse, and vehicle did not move. Less than a minute later, vehicle suddenly went backward. Gear indicator showed it was in reverse. Dealer suggested consumer might have had vehicle serviced, and wrong transmission fluid was used. Since then, this happened at least 4 more times, also, once vehicle was put in drive from park, and it took about a minute before vehicle lurched forward. Gear selector also showed it was in drive. Dealer could not remedy. Fuel pump assembly and fuel tank was replaced, vehicle would crank, but would not start.

I parked the car. Walked away. The car started moving in reverse. I ran back to the car, jumped in to stop it.missed the brake and hit the gas pedal.the car jumped a curb and went through a large plate of glass on a commercial bldg. Since than the car has jumped from drive to neutral and almost caused accidents on at least 3 other occasions. I don't trust this car's transmission. My insurance has gone up because of the accident. I would like the accident removed from my record because now I'm hearing I'm not the only one experiencing this problem. I read in the san jose Mercury news on July 4 & Aug 3 that this is a common problem. Please advise me on what I need to do to rectify this problem.
