This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The brake rotors failed prior to recall notice 00V-136, the consumer requested reimbursement but was denied because the repair order did not show a separation of the rotor from the hub. Nlm (see ODI #738156 for additional complant).
Consumer received recal 00V136000 in Jul 5, 2000 for rotors, and less than 8,000 miles there was a sign of corrision on front rotors again. The rotors were replaced again by the dealer because the rotors were exposed to some kind of solvent.
Consumer had noticed corrosion on front brake rotors, and vehicle was registered in California. Corrosion of front brakes rotors was causing shimmying in front end upon braking. Has caused vehicle to be unbalanced.
While looking brakes over noticed back brake rotors were rusted. Consumer states rotors on front and rear are extremely deficient, the front rotors had a recall and the back rotors are as bad and affect the emergency brakes.
The brake rotors cracked and fell off resulting in brake failure which caused vehicle collision and injury to consumer, recall (00V-136) was not compeleted prior to accident and consumer is requesting reimbursement for damages.
In order for the consumers vehicle to be equipped with desired options the dealer sourced the vehicle from Canada, consumer recieved recall notice 00V-136 for faulty rotors and made an appointment, the service dept logged the vehicle in but the consumer was told that they could not perform work because the vehicle was coming up as being register in kilometers instead of miles, the consumer stated the the vehicle was changed over to miles before he took delivery but dealer still refused repair vehicle because the change was not recorded with Chrysler by the dealer. Nlm
Since the brake disc rotor was recalled on my car I wondered whether any other owners had a problem with the rusting of front axle joints and calipers hanging up. Thank you!
I sent a detailed letter to daimler Chrysler after being refused by dealer. They only refunded my money for the cost of the front rotors. They would not reimburse me for the labor charges. I can't understand how they can do that when I had them replaced before the recall. That should show there is a problem. I wrote about all my problems with this "lemon" but I could not claim it was a lemon because I was leasing it at the time and in pa, a vehicle can only be declared a "lemon" when it is purchased, not leased. Very dissatisfied with daimler/Chrysler because they simply washed their hands of the entire problem. I have other problems to report, along with the receipts to prove they were investigated but nothing was ever done to correct the problems. Please contact me to forward all receipts proving complaints before warranty expired. Thank you
