The Jeep Cherokee in question was parked in the owner's garage. When a visitor started it, it immediately jumped into reverse and flew ata high speed out of the gargage. This caused it to cross a street, hit a retaining wall and a main waterline. The collapse of the wall made the neighbor's garage door fall off the hinges. Her car was stuck inside for over a week and she was without water until the next day. The 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited was totaled. The driver sustained neck and back injuries and has been treated by a doctor.

While the engine was running I put the transmission in park and let the automobile. It then started to roll backwards for several yards and crashed into a parked car with no passengers in it. There was no one else in my car. I believe that it kicked out of park into reverse. I have learned that there have been several incidents regarding the transmission in Jeep Cherokee's doing this kind of thing.

Backed Jeep into garage at 2:30 P.M.. power failure at 4:30 P.M.. at 6:00 P.M. opened electric garage door by pulling release cord. Pulled Jeep out of garage front first. To close garage door, put Jeep in park, left driver side door open and went back into garage to pull release cord. Looked up, for some reason, and Jeep was backing into garage on its own. Jumped out of the way, hitting my face on car and twisting my back. Jeep's door caught on garage frame and finally stopped vehicle. Jeep door nearly torn off. Called Jeep and investigator came out to do tests on car the next day. Said the computer inside car would show if the car had acted on its own. Investigator said tests showed everything to be ok. Everything may show ok now, but that doesn't change the fact that it changed gears on its own. I didn't give myself a black eye! how do I proceed?

The transmission slips out of gear while sitting in drive. Though it has not caused any accidents because my foot is on the brake. The transmission also does not want to change gears while driving. The driver has to punch the gas and let the engine reach about 4 rpms before it will go to the next gear. Taken to several transmission places and no one can figure out why this is happening. This problem has occurred since I bought the vehicle with about 60000 miles. I spoke with previous owner and it did the same thing. It has continuously gotten worse. I saw the special on tv and that is when I decided to proceed with my complaint.
