Owns a 2016 Jeep Compass. As of 10/07, the engine stalled while attempting to start after being driven for approx 30 min. The check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was able to be driven and was checked upon parking. The following morning (10/08) vehicle stalled upon attempting to start after being driven for approx 10-15 min. The check engine indicator was still illuminated. Was able to drive car to work and checked several times to see if car would stall upon starting. No issues and check engine indicator disappeared. Contacted recall/Chrysler dept, referred to nearest dealership in which I was advised that my VIN was not associated with the current recall & not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16V907000 (engine and engine cooling). The failure mileage is only approximately 45,800. I am afraid of the vehicle stalling while driving and/or causing a crash with child in the car.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Compass. While depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle would not exceed 60 mph. The contact stated that the same failure occurred multiple times at various speeds. The dealer (champion Chrysler Jeep Dodge, 9655 Firestone blvd, downey, ca 90241) stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16V907000 (engine). The manufacturer was also contacted and was unable to assist. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 53,675. Consumer stated engine stalled at 60 mph. 2016 Jeep Compass recall - the power and engine light comes on and the car loses power. I have to cut it off and restart. The engine light stays on for a while and after a couple of engine starts, the lights go off. When it loses power, pushing on the gas, the car doesn't get any power to move forward. It's only coasting along. This has happened on the highway and in the city. It doesn't matter what speed I am going. Very scary, I have to pull over on the highway to turn off the ignition and turn it back on to continue. I'm afraid eventually it won't turn back on. It started happening around May 2018. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.

Engine stalls all a sudden while driving, then the dashboard sensor lights come on like the engine light the etc light and the esp light. You do not currently have a recall on my VIN#, but I believe this to be a recall issue. Please investigate this being I need to have this fixed. Pretty please and thank you for you time!
Stops running while driving down the road. Has stopped at least 20 times. There is no lights that come on when this happens. It is hard to steer car to the side of the road when this happens.
Vehicle was being driven at normal speed 60 mph.on New Jersey parkway Sunday Aug. 20 th 8:45 pm ( near exit iselin ) when without warning vehicle started to rapidly decelerate to 25 mph. Put on hazard flashers so that I could warn other drivers that my vehicle was in distress. Dashboard showed engine light warning. Drove additional 2 miles and got vehicle to nearest gas station and shut down engine, called Chrysler customer assistance and filled a report. Vehicle was going to be towed but it resumed to run after 30 min. Normally. Very bizarre!!!!!
Car is not on recall list but is acting the same as the recall 2016 Jeep Compass crankshaft or camshaft sensor. Key not working sometimes and car will not go past 20. In shop more than we have had it.
After starting the vehicle and letting it run for a few minutes, we turned off the engine and left the vehicle. Within a few minutes, we noticed a fire in the engine compartment. We attempted to put out the fire with three extinguishers but were not able to do so. Another employee called 911 and the local fire dpt. Put out the fire. The vehicle was a total loss. We contacted Chrysler who sent an investigator to inspect the damage. Chrysler later sent us an E-mail stating they could not determine that the fire was a result of a "manufacturing or assembly error". we believe the damage is a result of a defect in the vehicle. Even though the vehicle is still under the powertrain warranty, Chrysler refuses to cover the loss.
My 2016 Jeep Compass has stalled out twice within approximately a 7-week period. Once in a parking lot (2/8/2017) and today (3/29/2017) a stall-out occurred in traffic. Today, I was stopped on the highway to make a left-hand turn. Traffic was backed-up, so when it began to move, I moved my foot from the brake to the gas pedal to make the turn, and the Jeep stalled. I put the Jeep in neutral, and it immediately started. However, this was in heavy traffic. Between the stall-outs, the vehicle will "jerk" periodically, especially after slowing down and then having to accelerate. These hard "jerks" have become more frequent and are occurring on a daily basis. Both issues appear to occur when speed is lower and/or have to decelerate or accelerate because of traffic. Also, if the vehicle has sat overnight or an extended period of time. No lights appear on the dashboard during these "jerks" or stall-outs. Today will make the 4th time within the seven-week period I will have the vehicle back at the dealership's service department. I bought the vehicle new and have had it less than one year. It has approximately 11,500 miles on it.

On December 9, 2016 I rented a Jeep Compass and on that day I had a roll over accident. I was driving in the country. Very low traffic area. Before applying the brake, I was driving at a safe speed for the road conditions - fifteen to twenty mph on fresh snow and some packed snow over a paved road base. At about twenty to twenty five feet before a stop sign I began to apply the brake. The brake did nothing. There was clicking noises and the Compass seemed to accelerate. I continued to apply the brake as I rolled through the stop area for the stop sign. The paved road ended at the stop sign and turned into a dirt road base. At this point I turned the wheel as the momentum continued. I was hoping the dirt road base would provide grab for the turned front tires and steer the Compass to the direction of the dirt road. There was no grab and the Compass continued to drive across the dirt road for about another twenty feet as I continued to apply the brake. I had applied the brake for about forty-five feet when I see the ten foot drop ditch ahead of me. The Compass didn't slow, ever. It seemed to accelerate. It wouldn't be directed by steering it. I had no control over it. At this point I did all that I could think of to avoid an accident. I looked at the ditch and knew that the SUV and I would receive damage. The Compass rolled into the ditch. When the SUV finally stopped I was up side down. For me to best describe this Jeep Compass is that it was a "terminator". it had a mind of its own. Once I applied the brake, I had no control over it.
